when I heard the birds chirping at the end, I was transported to 17 year old me, hearing Alas, I Cannot Swim for the first time in my bedroom
fuck man that guitar's sound is unreal.. some next level shit
fantastic song. hypnotic
I just have to say thank u for this and the the whole album, is like a friend to me.
I'm lost for words right now to express how moving and beautiful your song is. Just stunning and this is the 5th time in a row tonight i'm listening to this song.
Excellent, raw and beautiful sonic production.
Damn, Laura just keeps knocking it out of the park with each new release. Bravo Laura!
God save You, Laura! Спасибо, Лора!
Every song from the forthcoming album just sounds better & better, can't wait for the release of Semper Femina. I wondered how she could follow up the brilliant Short Movie album but needed have worried, the beautiful singing & instruments used sound absolutely wonderfu.l
The best song. Awesome lAURA; I found my soul again.
at . What a voice. This is the sound of an angel
Lovely dirty guitar sound !
[Verse 1]
I won't forget the late September
Where we basked among the midnight embers
But it's going like a half-remembered dream
Left and north of where we met
Thinking better of going west
Yeah we lost each other in that river stream
I thought I'd come and find you there
Wait until you lost your hair
And got your place out in the woods
You're not afraid of trees or bears
Or anything with tendencies
To wanna hurt you good
[Pre-Chorus]
The only thing I learnt in a year
Where I didn't smile once, not really
Nothing matters more than love, no
Nothing, no, not nothing no, not nearly
[Chorus]
We've not got long, you know
To bask in the afterglow
Once it's gone it's gone
[Instrumental]
[Verse 2]
I won't forget the late September
Where we danced among the midnight embers
But it's going like a half-remembered dream
Left and north of where we met
Thinking better of going west
Yeah we've lost each other in a river stream
[Pre-Chorus]
The only thing I learnt in a year
Where I didn't smile once, not really
Nothing matters more than love, no
Nothing, no, not, nothing no, not nearly
[Chorus]
We've not got long, you know
To bask in the afterglow
Once it's gone it's gone
Love waits for no one
We've not got long, you know
To bask in the afterglow
Once it's gone it's gone
Love waits for no one
The opening of this is almost identical to Bonnie Prince Billy's So Everyone. All my favourite music is merging into one!
Awesome
much love from this listener, Laura
Laura's new album is so good!!! She is growing and getting better, as if she wasn't perfect already. 😊
Thanks for sharing and thanks Radio 6 music. that riff tho
Wow. I am so moved. I love this. I bought the whole release on itunes and cannot stop listening.
This is incredible. Love all the songs I've heard off the new album. Seriously going to be a great album, perhaps her best yet?
Kyle Rowe was actually dissapointed in Short Movie, because it came after the masterpiece that is Once I was an Eagle.
Honestly I love them all and generally the one I'm listening to is my favourite...
Laura, you are one of a kind....
This and all the others you Released recently are phenomenal,it's just everything i hear from you musically(not just your voice)the whole aspects of how you done all the albums, tracks are Gold.
New chapter,New prosprective of how you see yourself, your life and all the things that you stand for.
just one problem:way too much songs before the listener hears the whole album.
brilliant! thank you, Laura! :*
Probably my favorite off of the new album, so good! Thank you Laura Marling!

A re-edition of Your Only Doll (Dora) right after the birds chirping at the end of this track would be so awesome!

Does anyone know what's the meaning of each of those symbols?
mmmmmm mmmmmm mmmmm! Perfection!
We have known her from Alas and so far for me the best one! She grow older but in our mind she is still our Alas & Cross your fingers!
😍😍
This song reminds me of Jeff Buckley.
silvia calonga came here to say that the structure and chords are really similar to my favorite Jeff Buckley song, Lover, You Should’ve Come Over
Took me two listens to figure out what it reminded me of
It sounds just like Joni Mitchell's Blue.
I always think that Laura is Joni Mitchell of this time ¡the best composers I've heard!
Reminds me a lot of Wild Fire :P
This song reminds me of a girl I used to know in Whangarei. Her name was Shazza, and she had a gammy leg, but for a girl with a gammy leg she used to dance better than my dad. He's passed away now. Shazza did have sexual relations with my best friend, Bud, but I forgave her, and I think that is what this song is all about.
Thanks for sharing that. Now I wish the music video for this song was you, your dad, Bud, and Shazza with a gammy leg, dancing up a storm in Whangarei.
hope..! :/
a lil Beth Orton sound... Sweet
aahhh.
Does anyone know what the symbols mean?
🙂
I'm not inclined to effuse unesessarily, not nearly.
I do not practise mental health awareness on youtube a totally waste of time...... neighbours..... Love music
does anyone get that kinda vibe that Laura Marling got a little too stoned while writing songs from her latest album?
Who was the designer working on this? Oh my god - Typography/Design porn.
Hey guys, I wrote a song about Laura a few years ago called Goddess and I just recently filmed a music video for it. I'd love it if you guys checked it out on my channel and gave some feedback!
plus its potentially more of a rap verse than sophia and im so down
internets zaniest music nerd
A weak rip off attempt of Blue aint your color
‘Semper Femina’ is a totally complete, pressing, pushing, full,
wonderful, powerful, deep and genius album. Laura Marling is an incredible artist. Her work makes me cry with joy.
