A builder who created a truly production line of custom motorcycles.
In fact, He created so many beautiful custom BMWs, that I had some difficulties in choosing only one for today's episode.
The custom BMW R100 RS presented on this video, was built in Germany, by WalzWerk Motorcycles.
Marcus Walz is the founder of the company, and it is also the maestro behind the team who make people's dreams become a reality.

🇨🇦 For 20 years I have had a 1983 R100 with a bent frame, bent front wheel, busted front forks, bent handle bar but with rebuilt motor having only 19K km under its belt sitting in my garage. I have a spare frame, forks and wheel sitting there as well... Now that my 2017 R9T cafe racer creation is complete your video now focuses my eyes on that old R100. Thanks for the inspiration!

Not only is this build stunning, its also TÜV-approved, which is a big hurdle for custom builds in germany. You cant just saw the frame, weld a little bit and drive it on the street. Almost everything you change needs to be approved. That makes this build even more impressive

I see these kind of motorcycle as a piece of art. You can feel it, you can touch it, you smell it and you can hear it.
What can you say about something built by BMW? that must have under the sad plastic of the 90s a heart of pure and pristine metal, ready to receive love. I don't know if the correct comparison is Henry Ford, that I dislike the guy for being a "light fascist", not so the pick up trucks of the 70s and 80s of the F series, which almost any motorcycle enthusiast loves for practical, resistant and beautiful. Indeed, something mechanical can and is in fact something beautiful. The bike reviewed could be in an art gallery without any regrets, because despite the standardization of the parts installed by WalzWerk Motorcycles it is a truly unique piece of engineering and design, based on something as special as a motorcycle built by the Bavarian manufacturer. Something that historically happened with the Henry Ford vehicles from the Model T, to the F trucks and not to mention the Mustang 67 and a hallf hatchback! Gracias Marcus, Henry and Victor (in spsnish) for such a great vision of a great bike and memories!

Uau!!! Me imaginei morando na Europa e decidido a encomendar uma café racer, percorrendo a oficina, observando todo o trabalho, as criações e trocando algumas ideias com o Sr Walz.. fantástico né..
Diante do que vi nesse vídeo, algumas considerações me vem de imediato: suponho que um projeto relativamente padronizado e semi pronto seja mais simples, acessível e, porque não, barato. O mais incrível é que o fato de ser "de linha" não torna as motos menos exclusivas.. incrível mesmo.
Quanto a moto de hoje, como você mencionou, o que salta aos olhos é o absoluto equilíbrio e proporcionalidade: pausei varias vezes o vídeo para analisar: como dizemos no Brasil.. "é de cair o queixo" rs.. Nesse quesito especificamente, essa BMW me lembrou a sua CX 650.
Também a carenagem é um capítulo a parte, lembrando muito as motos do Mad Max.. realmente magnífica e, pelo menos até o momento, essa está sendo a minha top10 do ano em meu pódio pessoal.. impressionante para uma "moto de linha" né? rs..
Você não mencionou no vídeo, por isso me surgiu a dúvida se o cliente necessitaria trazer a moto para customização ou apenas dizer como quer sua moto e o Sr Walz se encarregaria de tudo.. suponho que, pelo menos quanto às BMW R100, isso seja possível né.. a deduzir pelo que vemos nos 05:00 rs..

Olá Amigo Robinson. Não esperava que fosse gostar tanto desta BMW. Sinceramente, não sei se o Sr Walz aceita transformar directamente as motos dos seus clientes. Mas pelo que li, fiquei com a sensação de que o normal é ele fazer tudo desde o inicio ao fim. Por um lado, isso até facilita o processo de legalização da moto já transformada. Uma curiosidade, pesquisei sobre as motos que ele tem à venda, e o preço médio de cada BMW R100 ronda os 16500 Euros. Considerando o elevado custo de vida na Alemanha, poder-se-á dizer que o preço até que não é mau(Dependendo da perspectiva é claro). Cá em Portugal seria um projecto para uns 12 mil Euros(Sem legalização da moto).

Minimalista, essa é a expressão que encontrei para parabenizar o Marcus Walz. Não conheço ninguém que teve a "grande sacada" de construir motos Cafe Racer personalizadas em série. O profissionalismo e a criatividade vai além do trivial. A isso, chamamos de superar as expectativas dos clientes. As Cafe Racer dele são um belo exemplo de comprometimento com o design, qualidade, eficiência, buscando o que há de melhor para o sonho do cliente.

Markus is in custom motorcycles years now ... he had the best custom chopper motorcycle in the word ... he has the know how .. he was the best .. he will be the best in cafe in a small while :.. he also has a fabrication know how and expect custom parts in the near future ...

Boa noite,não é todo dia que se vê uma fabrica que torna real um desejo uma personalidade em uma moto.
The voice over....is this really a real human who speaks like a computer? Detracts from the fine engineering...
No, Unfortunately, things are more complicated than most people may think. I use this "robotic" voice created by software, because I'm Portuguese, and my bad English accent (and voice), can ruin the documentary character that I like for my videos. I already tried a real American voice in one of my videos, but things didn't work as I expected. Curiously, the robotic voice sounds very good for all non-English natives.
But don't worry about this voice. I am already working on getting a good and real professional voice. Very soon it will be reality. But thank you for your feedback :) Cheers.

Thanks Racer Tv for showing this amazing bike business. Its a beautiful made bike. The bike would look much better without the fairing. That is just my vision.
Then feel free to pick one of 12 bikes in front of the garage :-).
I personally prefer the one with fairing - what kind of racer is it when naked? (Except Frankenstein of course ;-) )
Just the matter of taste... otherwise we all would ride same bikes and have same looking wives :-D
BRILLIANT!!! Thank you for sharing this with us Mr. Cafe Racer. I have an 88 R100RT that has been in "project" phase for 2yrs now because I couldn't find the parts. The construction of the frame makes it a great bike for bolt on changes. Thanks again and as always, please keep making these videos!

Very nice video again! But I am wondering why you present Walzwerk and not Diamond Atelier?! Diamond Atelier are the masters of BMW Custom Bikes worldwide...
The problem about Diamond Atelier, is the fact that they share publicly very few photos/videos from each one of their builds. And this make impossible to make a full video about any of their custom motorcycles. But thanks you for your sugestion. Cheers.

That’s using a Norton featherbed frame or something very similar. Works with the BMW engine perfectly.

Why do custom builders continually use those square tires. Shortening the forks until there is nearly no travel left.
They may look good but they will not ride well
David McLachlan it’s all about Looks, the customers just want a cool looking bike to ride to a cafe on Sunday mornings
Custom bike is not about comfort is all about special look one of the kind,if you want comfort you buy a stock bike.
I say form follows function. The bike has to rideable as the very least, if it ends up being even better than expected, then that’s another clue that it was built right. The bar hoppers look good but man, they are rough to ride.

I would never call the lines of a BMW beautiful. The awkward bulky mass of the motor dominates the whole appearance of the bike. However, he has done a great job of simplifying the lines.

I expect in Germany they have quite tight policy on "street legal" subject. I wonder how it passes the obligatory rear fender... in Poland you must have it or be preapred for discussion with policeman

hey mate, german here. there is a policy about rear fenders in germany, but there is also an european policy, which allows no rear fender. you are allowed to go with the european over the german policy. it outranks it. hope this helps.
