the writing process and creating the instrumental are two separate things. Anyway the HFK style wasn't the type of music halsey made back in 2014 so she propably wrote it and had a different instrumental but she still copied Needed Me with this new one

Haha it's cool you made a mashup of these songs too! Great minds think alike haha. I only have VirtualDJ to mix songs with, which leaves me kinda limited to what I can do. Would you mind telling me what programs you use? I know you said you use Audacity, but what else are you using to isolate the instrumental and vocal tracks of the songs? Do you use a DAW or no?
idk what a DAW is, but i just use phase inversion on Audacity & occasionally Utagoe to isolate vocals. hope this helps :)
DAW stands for Digital Audio Workshop, just in case you care. That's the stuff recording engineers use to record music in the studio (some popular DAWs are Pro Tools, Logic, and Cubase). I'll have to look into the phase inversion tool, thanks!

btw, phase inversion isn't really a tool, you just sync the instrumental and the original song together and invert the waveform of one of the tracks.
