The most surprising thing about Rashford not being in the squad is the fact people are surprised by it!

This is pretty left field but Saka started his Arsenal career as a LB.
Could he do a job for England to give us the best chance possible.

He hasn't played there professionally in many years now. Even if he did thrive there in the past, he would be rusty there now, positioning, recieving the ball, game IQ etc. It could be potentially be a weak point for us if we risked a move like that.

Yes! Back 4: Trent Alexander, Stones, Branthwaite, Saka. Midfield: Rice, Bellingham, Gallagher: Attack: Kane, Foden, Grealish or Gordon. Every team will be parking the bus against us. So no need to worry about the defence.
Mainoo is clearly ready, only be better with better players around him. He was excellent for England on he's debut!

Southgate knew the score, it's his own fault for not trying out Mitchell, etc, and giving him international experience. They have to play an international level at some point. Give him a chance. He could flourish.
Foden has to play as the 10.. he can win games... im not saying Bellingham cant but he can play a bit deeper and be effective.
I probably would have taken him as an impact sub in a different team but he really canât complain based on his performances

Todayâs media reaction to Rashford being omitted from the England squad shows just how much of a brand player he actually is. If you didnât know who he was/take away his name brand recognition and just watched him play this season, there is zero chance youâd say heâs an England level quality player. In all seriousness, Rashford is only good playing on the counter off the opposition right backs shoulder with balls into space. Thatâs it. Otherwise, his decision making in a pass and move system is mediocre to bad. The problem with Rashford is he stopped developing his game around 20-21 and is the same player from 5-6 years ago. With Shaw being out this year, his one move of cutting inside onto his right foot and blasting the ball was completely neutralized because opponents know he doesnât have a left foot and United had zero threat with overlapping left backs because neither Dalot, Wan Bissaka, Lindelof, or Ambrabat are naturally left footed.
He can sort some packed lunches out during the summer.

Rashford has been in every one of Southgates tournament squads, was one of England's best players at WC and criminally under utilised.
So being left out of initial 33 IS a surprise.

Regarding Foden and Bellingham, to get the best out of these two, i would love to see them play just like Foden and De Bruyne do, interchanging allowing Foden to pop up in different postions.
That would get the best out of them two.
To do that you need a lb that essential plays like a winger (just like Gvardiol has done for city).
If we dont have Luke Shaw then i think this tactic is basically not on the cards.
The next best option in my opinion is to play bellingham deeper and Foden as the 10.
The worst option is to play Foden as a left winger and that has to stay there, we wont get the man city Foden doing that.

this is southgates fault. how can you have no actual left back ready to play for england? yeah yeah shaw and chillwell are both injured but there are plenty of others. This is the BS england manager decisions that has plagued them for years, managers playing people out of position. What southgate is saying is that at the moment no english left back is better than a right back at that position. utter madness. having a right back playing left back will be the place all the teams in the world cup will exploit.

Not sure why there's such a fuss made over Rashford. He's had a terrible year in general, and more importantly, a terrible last few months. Southgate's dropped Phillips, Henderson and Rashford which are the correct calls. None of them have done anything this year to warrant a place in the squad.

Foden needs to play in the middle and not out wide, he will be wasted.
