Absolutely fantastic effort. Thank you for taking the time to explain your fix. It worked perfectly on our ignition that wouldn’t turn anymore.
    Thank you.

Those ‘keys’ that you put back to secure the collar are called ‘grub screws’ in england

Hi. I've done this and it worked, however now my key fob/buttons does not want to lock or unlock the doors. The internal centre console lock/unlock button still work fine, only my two keys. I've tried recoding diy without any success. Do you know what might have gone wrong? I have a 2014 Navara spain spec, and im based in South Africa.

Hi, I'm not shure how this could happen, I did not have any problems afterwards.
Since your car is about 6 years younger than mine was, maybe the keys lost there programation after disconnecting the lock/transponder ring?
Reprogramming them could be a solution.
I don't know where the reciever for the remote control is located, if it is around the ignition barrel, maybe something is disconnected or not properly (re-)conneted?
In my repair manual there is not much information regarding the remote control, and its only for car's from 2005 thru 2013 so I'm not shur your car is the same system.
I hope you find a solution soon!
      Best regards

I had the same , it was the key in position switch at the top of the barrel , it can fall out of position so that it thinks the key is in all the time , and the remote will not lock or open 👍🏻

Hi Martin, I do notice you posted this two years ago, but I was seeing if you still remember, as I have the same problem now. I too have a 2014 Navara (spain spec) I haven't done my ignition yet but just wondering if I have the same problem as you with the lock or unlock was it an easy fix. Also is it easy enough to remove the barrel (is it just removing the cover around the steering wheel or do I have to remove half the dash)

@@Petterjunior Hi, I have filed the barrel and the key is turning sweat now, but I have the same problem with the remote, as you did. How did you fix the problem, do I have to take the barrel out and turn it a bit? I thought I may need to buy a new switch that connects up near the barrel. Thanks for any feedback.

I have the end of my key snapped off in the barrel - is there anyway to get the end bit out using this method ?
