- Join The Hadwins on our family camping trip in Devon. On this video we let you see exactly what camping gear we have in our Vango Casa Lux Family tent. From what we use for cooking to what we sleep on. We also give you a full review of how good it all was.
This was our 3rd ever camping trip and each time we go camping we always find that we are short of bits, or some of the gear could be better.
We give you a tour of our tent and let you see what camping equipment we have found to be a must when you go camping with a family.
We have a griddle for cooking and we also take a small rice cooker that we purchased. This allows you to make not just rice but boil food such as eggs, noodles or even a chilly.
We purchased small pop up kettle, hoping to save ourselves space in the car, but we did find that it did not actually boil enough water to fill both our cups, so next trip it will be bigger kettle or smaller cups?
We bought and christened a Yawn king size inflatable air bed, what a great addition that was and we all agreed that it was probably the best thing we have bought for camping, so comfortable and easy to use, if you have an EHU (Electric hook Up).
We also bought the Outdoor Revolution Campese Inflatable sofa. Again we found that this, although expensive at over £100, is another item that we are really pleased with. Compared to other inflatables, this is a camping sofa, that looks and feels the part. Great material and really sturdy.
After listening to people give reviews on various camping forums and Facebook pages, we also bought the Kampa Diddy heater. But in a family tent, we found that it was not satisfactory, and we were all freezing in the evenings. By day 3 we found ourselves shooting off to the local shops in Torquay and buying ourselves another fan heater. Although it was a good heater, it did not oscillate and was still not as good as the Quest Oscillating fan that we had previously used. That is going to be coming with us again on all future trips.

We have the Vango, dinner table and chairs, another reasonably expensive buy, but great bit of gear, easily accommodating a family of four at mealtimes.
If you are going camping with kids, buy a toilet! We cannot say how useful this is. Running to the toilet across a field at 3am when your own bladder is full, is not great, but having to do it when someone else's bladder is full, is no joking matter.
We purchased an electric cooling box from Halfords, 24 litres and this was ideal, kept everything cool and at that size it easily accommodated our drinks and food.
Lights - We have found you can never have enough. We always make a point of taking a mixture of solar, electric charging and battery.
We use sleeping bags as opposed to quilts as we have found that our kids do have a tendency to roll out of anything you put in them, at least with zips around them, you can keep them trapped. Which we really needed to do when it was cold at night.
And a great tip to anyone who has purchased the carpet for this tent and most others, buy Velcro strips off Amazon if you can, we put these on the underside of the carpet and found that it worked a treat in keeping the carpet flat as opposed to it looking as if there were sand dunes under it.

This is luxury camping at its finest.
Am more a small tent no heating no sleep as the ground is to lumpy and launching my portable cooker across the field as its run out of gas and am hangry 🤣. I must say we will deffo get to that stage soon as that's a good set up
Wow family camping very nice inside there is a portable toilet inside.
Have air bed,and the table everything are needed in the kitchen.

Hi, Glad you liked the video. We actually made it on the basis that we could not really find any other videos that told us what to get and whether it was worth getting. But we are really pleased with the set up now. Scott is still toying with a projector, and we have bought a new folding up fire pit, so as soon as it gets warmer, we will have family camp set up MK2 out.
Love a bit of camping,like the velcro on the carpet,very good idea,best thing we take now is our air fryer,very handy bit of cooking gear.
Air Fryer...umm, like the sounds of that. Anything that makes cooking easier is a win as far as we are concerned👍

Thanks for the video, im new to family camping. got myself a 5+2 tent. and keep building on that, so much stuff nowdays. got a carpet, projector + screen, had some insulation foil and like you i put it under the mattress. I am in northern sweden, not so many campings have electric outlets for tent customers. I got myself a chinese diesel heater. Work extremely well. Noisy at startup, but ok after a while.
Took to heart the kitchen bench. I have been putting it off, but i realise it has to happen.

I realize what is importand for longevity is keeping kids interested. That is why the projector and heater.
The diesel heater is perfect. As backup i have a batterypack (same as for boat motor) and electric blanket.
Also have oneuse emergency heating ofc ^^
(heatpacks)
My first tip is keep feet warm in sleeping bag.
Goosefeet "socks" is the best you can get at this moment, i use the 100% overfill kind.
But i camp in very cold conditions. Have some crocs for the night pee.

Love your videos...we took a heater also but need to watch the amps ..camping has now been expensive as we're changing the car to a van to carry it all.😂😂
Cofton holidays our next trip ...also at night a projector or a small TV is handy for the kids.

we bought the Yawn airbed off amazon and the Outdoor Revolution sofa from GoOutdoors. Both great camping bits of Kit.
Although note, never inflate them fully. If you do they can pop. Our little girl jumped on the sofa and destroyed it🙄 We are looking for a replacement now for our next trip...

Hi, um, it is a case of plug and go.
You will need mobile mains power unit.
you can purchase them from GoOutdoors and places like Halfords for about £45-50. Then just a case of ensuring you do not overload them. A must though for us...

Hi they come with the tent. Very handy, but we still find we need more storage when camping. Just cant fit it in the car...

Caerfai Bay in Pembrokeshire, lovely area and great views. Globe Vale in Cornwall, near Redruth. So good we are actually going back there again this month.
and Wallpark in Brixham, where we filled this. ideal base camp in South Devon. A quiet campsite, but good amenities.

Hi, we had to buy a roofbox to get it all in. Pending size of your car, you may find it easier with a trailer? We have now got a smaller car, just did one trip with a hired trailer and now think we also need a roofbox in addition. .You can never have too much space when it comes to camping...

Hi we bought that off Amazon, but we did break it unfortunately. We have just done our new video during which we used a Quest one, which we bought from GoOutdoors for £40. The Quest one turned out to be better, so would recommend that one if you are looking to buy one.

How was the mini heater? Did it do the job?
Unfortunately no, the heater was no good for a large tent. Ok for a 2 man tent, but no good for family tent...thanks for watching
