    As many other have pointed out, these ammo racks happen when small caliber shells cook-off. The reason we see tanks at higher BRs lose their turrets is because the big shells with a lot of propellant in the cartridge catch on fire and explode, causing a chain reaction. These early tanks have much lower caliber shells that aren't able to create the same chain reaction most of the time, and they cook off one-by-one, leading to this crackling and popping. Similar to when MG ammo cooks off in real life.
    Also, historically the charges used in these guns weren't nearly as powerful at the start of the war (with a few exceptions), so it makes sense that they don't explode as violently.

    The special ammo rack happens when ammo doesn’t all cook off at once. What you see is ammo continuously cooking off. The heat from the initially exploding shells burns through other shells bit by bit. Usually happens with normal caliber bullets and can happen with high numbers of low caliber tank shells. It doesn’t happen with larger tank shells usually because when ammo detonates it’s big enough to just detonate everything simultaneously more often.

    @Tommy_The_Gun Před rokem +11

    The different effect for Ammo Rack for low tier is most likely tied to the gun caliber. Low tiers for the most part have sub 90mm guns, so it is probably that. Smaller "bullets" (that have a propellant), so smaller explosions.

    The reason lower tiers have special ammo racks is because, one they have a lot of ammo, and two smaller ammo acts like fire crackers when exploding instead of a larger boom in higher tier tanks. Thanks QB for all of the content and I hope you continue to shape a great and well produced game.

  • @meh_tr0
    @meh_tr0 Před rokem +1

    QB, I have a pretty good idea about the ammo rack. It could quite well be the SIZE of the tanks ammo, the bigger the shell the tank has inside it the more explosive the ammo rack, so when you ammo rack a low tier tank, most of them have 37mm rounds in them so it more just burns in the tank instead of exploding. It's just less powder to burn.

I was escaping an Obj 907 that was arty hunting. Next thing I know, one of his teammates playing a Lion 2-shots me. Second shot was an ammo rack, and I exploded... just like that Valentine II.

  • @MordalfusGrea

    I think the Churchill NA75 [North Africa 75] could work as a Tier V Premium UK Heavy Tank;
    200 produced. Churchill IVs with 6-pounder guns replaced (under Operation Whitehot) by US 75 mm guns and mantlets from destroyed or scrapped Sherman tanks, fitted to Churchill IV cast turrets. Their performance was virtually identical to the VI. They were known as NA 75 (North Africa 75) where the first conversions took place, after 48 Shermans with new guns had been disabled by mines. Some Mark IIIs were also modified, using Mark IV turrets. To fit the Sherman mantlet required cutting away the front of the Churchill turret before it was welded in place, then the mantlet slot had to be cut away to give sufficient elevation. The Sherman 75 mm gun was designed for a left hand loader and the Churchill, in common with British practice, had a right hand loader. The gun was turned upside down and the firing controls adapted.[64] The conversion of about 200 tanks was carried out between March to June 1944 and the conversion project earned the officer in charge, Capt. Percy Morrell, an MBE and a promotion.

    physics got added to the game a whole lot later than the britis tanks.British tanks were introduced 8.2 the current physics model well over 10 patches later.
    Churchill 3 and matilda 4 of the soviet tree were both historically accurate matilda was lend-leased although the model of lend-lease taken to USSR was mk IV not Mk III. Matilda IV was soviet attempt to fit a modified tank gun and a purpose built modified gunmantlet,sights etc on matilda turret as attempt to upgun the matilda. Although soviets found matilda somewhat acceptable the churchills were in their eyes even worse than their own equipment.

U.S.A leased M3 & M5 Stuarts, M4 Shermans, M3 Half-tracks as well as planes, materials and other equipment, U.K also supplied materails and equipment to the U.S.S.R as well. My personnal record is also with the churchil III, 11 kills, 3.9k dmg 3056 base exp, with prems 4584. Churchill is monstruous for getting exp so easy

    This is late, but you will only get the "rare" ammo rack at smaller caliber guns, i believe 57mm and lower is the range, and the reasoning is that when you get ammo racked, it goes off almost like a chain reaction, similar to fire crackers, however bigger calibers explode in a bigger radius, therefore the turret goes flying off, and the ammo will explode at once.

    The Soviet Union was sent 301 Churchill tanks (45 Mk II, 151 Mk III and 105 Mk IV) as part of the Lend-Lease programme. 43 of them (19 Mk II and 24 Mk III) were lost en route on the Arctic Convoys.

    quite funnily, Tiger II and E75, E50 get the long ammo rack explosion.

    they should do a scrap yard game mode, so like you have all the tanks you have unlocked, but they can't be used as one machine, you have to make your own frankenmachine out of pieces, so you can use the lower off one tank, tracks and engine off another, and the turret off whatnot.. totally mix and match based on what you have unlocked already

    The Soviet Union were given 151 Churchill III (along with Mk II and Mk IV, totalling 301 tanks) through lend-lease. All of which they called "Mk IV".
    Overall they though it was a decent tank marred with rushed development and production. The gun was adequate, the armour was good, the engine was well designed, and it was able to neutral turn. However the gearbox was prone to breaking and leaking. The fuel lines were also prone to leaking. The tracks would fill up with mud and dent the mudguards, blocking the gun. The track links were welded making them difficult to repair in the field. Which was a problem when the tracks would fall off when the tank tilted 20 degrees, or when the roadwheels fell off during manoeuvres.

    The Matilda IV put up a damn good fight. ...if he had packed more AP or gold he might have won it.

    Churchill AVRE would be a good british premium churchill, sort of a bz176 at tier 5?

  • @KurtElliott
    @KurtElliott Před rokem

    Yes, there is a tier 5 British Churchill I & a tier 6 Churchill VII.

    Those low tier ammo racks are because the caliber of the gun is low meaning it's not substantial enough to cause a massive explosion that blow the turret off as mentioned in other comments
