Begin Again is one of those movies we like without knowing the reason. And this is my favourite scene of the movie, every time I watch it, it makes my heart warmer.
This describes exactly how I feel lol. Films like this are okay to me but don't usually leave a lasting effect, but Begin Again is the sole exception.

Its crazy how good of an actress Hailee Steinfeld is. She portrays that teen anxiety afraid to take that first step so fucking well.
This movie is criminally underrated, a great storyline with great songs. This is what makes a movie memorable.

How this movie only did $16 M in the USA back in 2014 is beyond me because it is probably the best movie I've ever seen. It's what movie making and the performing arts are all about. Truly a masterpiece.

This is in my top 5 movies of all time. It defines the term “ Hidden gem”.
The director John Carney topped himself with his next 2016 film Sing Street, which is truly hidden gem due to no famous actors.

But how can a movie possibly be better than Begin Again (called New York Melody in Europe). I guess there is no reason to compare two works of art.

It’s like comparing Gene Kelly back to back masterpieces in early 1950’s, if you have not seen it, for me “Singin in the rain” is the best musical of all time, it’s got everything nailed down to perfection, especially the comedy aspect.
This country, heck the world needs more movies like this.

I’ve watched this film several times now over the past 2 weeks, since it just popped up on Netflix. The script was obviously written by someone with a deep knowledge of music and the music industry. This film is so underrated, since the “story” and “journey” are so accurate and the actors so perfect for their parts. I wasn’t a Kiera fan, but she’s won me over big time 🙌🙌🙌😍💪🐬

Such a lovely scene. Only thing missing is a cutaway to Catherine Keener during the performance. I would have liked to see a mother’s reaction to seeing her daughter succeed at taking the spotlight on a song and bonding with her father.

That guitar solo is so simple yet really packs a punch. Amazing.
It fits the role so well. It would have been ridiculous if she'd suddenly become a Jimi Hendrix or Jeff Beck. Even the feedback works both as something that happens to an inexperienced performer and as part of the recording.
