www.patreon.com/user?u=147138... I got the dope worked out it was a good shooting little gun. At 25 yards. And I was shooting light charge and ball. Worth the money? Y'a, You can kill game with it.
I bought mine from bass pro back in the early 90's, Thought I may have been wasting my $60 I paid. Gun shot unbelievably well that was when my eyes still worked good. I wish I could buy a half dozen of those again for $60 to give to friends. Never had an issue with the delrin rod provided and don't remember the cleaning jab but mine is brass. I put a piece of mole skin in the ramrod pipe to keep it from rattling and some rags in the stock to balance it out and get rid of the hollow sound. That gun started it for me now I build muzzle loaders from blanks and parts.
Impressive shooting. When you first showed this gun with plastic parts I thought it would come with a coon skin Daniel Boone hat for Halloween. But proved to be worthwhile.
Hey George i just stumbled across your channel. I love your content. I gave my 16 year old son my olg cva bobcat. Its 50 cal. Its kinda like yours. He loves it
I bought a Traditions Fox River 50 caliber that came with a 32 cal barrel. If memory serves me correctly I paid $ 100.00 for it. Back in the day 97 ish . I was oiling it down yesterday 9/27/23 when I noticed that the plastic butt plate had broken. I have taken at least one Whitetail Doe with it. I was using Buffalo ballets great.
I have the traditions Deer Hunter. Pretty much the same gun but with fiber optic sites Unfortunately I can only own muzzle loaders no I am not a fellin long story
well, I really enjoyed this shoot. As an English man, we don't get it. The opportunity to shoot muzzle leaders today. I have been considering a new rifle build, based on the box breach design of an English pocket pistol maker of 1860. having a box breech built into a side-held flintlock with a separate safety catch & pan lock built in is interesting. Adaptable the box breech makes room for stander telescopic sights & even iron sits & rear Verner & windage sites, the mine. ball & 28" barrel or the smother boor or Rifal being a choice & 1 in 28 inch twist being my choice. i think would make for a new & existing rifal. built whit half stoke & steel ram tod use. I may yet build my self one. best on the dimension's of the CDVA Bobcat for size. I wuld be interested to her back on the mind of them interested in such a design of rifal. Les England .
I have what is probably the same gun but about 30 years old...its a Fox River Fifty that I ordered from Gander Mountain back in the pre internet days. I like that style for hunting..nice and light to carry..I found the best load for it was 85 grains of pyrodex under a soft lead ball with a thinner patch..I can generally get a 3 inch or better 3 shot group at 75 yards..which would be a long shot in the woods where I live..25 to maybe 45 yards would be most likely. Tried it with a few different sabotted .44 bullets and with solid lead bullets but I have never been to best the accuracy I get with a simple round ball.
Common history here. I got a similar rifle (I think it was a CVS) about 30 years ago too! Too help the old gentleman I got it for, I bought some plastic saboted 44 cal slugs in case he had to reload. That little gun put them about center on a 50 yard bull's eye too, about as shown in video or better. I didn't have time to work up a patch & ball load, as you know, takes some doing to find the best.
What you have here is the cva bobcat. Nice basic bp rifle. I love mine, you would be surprised at what you can do with a simple rifle like this. Great knock around gun. Try double patching a 45 round ball or sabot with a 36 pistol ball for rabbit or wood chuck.
I got my Bobcat used at a local gun show. It works as a beginner gun. I can't afford something fancy. Last year bought the wood stock Sharpshooter version. Pretty much the same with an adjustable rear sight. I actually like the plastic stock Bobcat. Sort of a BP tactical gun 😂.
@@shenyathewelder9695 CVA Mountain Stalker or CVA Bobcat. No idea what the difference is between the two. They look the same to me. There's no wood or brass on the gun, hence the cost savings.
I have two of those 1 has got a red dot on it, the other one, iron sights, so by traditions, also made in Spain, very very accurate, I have taken a lot of deer with these two guns, is all you need, for muzzleloader hunting I do not shoot round balls in them I shoot 420 grain conicals, manufactured by no excuse bullets, shoot great a lot of knockdown power, nice lightweight muzzleloader, everybody asked that thing must kick like a mule, nope just a little push
the loading block is another cumbersome oddity. a small pouch of balls with some small thin patches will be preferable for plinking, until you figure out the correct ball diameter..
Did not know they were hard to come buy until I looked this A.M. , thought the primer shortage was bad , go figure when I have the money ..............
I once had a rossi youth inline muzzle loader and it was awesome I wish I could find another one. George if you ever find one please let me know. I'm down here in Murfreesboro and would love to drive up and chew the fat and pick one up.
First muzzleloader my Gpa ever bought me I actually just broke it out to take on a personal memorial hunt next weekend. Just realized the trigger isn’t working, got to tear it down now and figure it out
It looks a lot like the traditions Deer Hunter. But without fiber optic sites, I don't think CVA makes these guns anymore. They are making more inline guns.
I bought my first BP 15 years ago, now I have 8 more to go along with the first one. They are addictive. So much fun to shoot. Occasionally I do get to shoot a deer with one.
Not unless you find in some anal fudd gun store. I was buying a shotgun. Was waiting on the background check and found a nice looking, inexpensive Rem 1858 BP revolver. The salesman said the off-site owner insisted on adding it to the 4473. Would not take the "not a firearm" argument.
I think they changed hands. A E.U. firm has it now. They had been under cut by swiss. And other makers were buying Kn03 form them. So they just sold out.
i would be so annoyed if you were loading beside me. I get these loaded and shot in seconds. i did not know they just sold these for hunting in the states.
Why bother pouring the poweder when you can just get the pyrodex solid block and drop it down the barrel set the sabbot in its jacket drop thst down pack it and good to go ....
you need a new mole whacker, that thing is too long and whatever is on the end is gonna be hard on the front feet if you ask me. start by using that flat side of it to baton the ball level with the crown then you only need to go a couple inches with the starter, the rest should go easy with the ramrod. the starter you have seems to be a gimmick sold to novices to look, i don't know what in a plastic sort of over the mantel with a goat head way.
And you can't find it anymore. I have a cva wolf stainless set up for scope only. It's nice and only use ball ammo and pyrodex Pellets. Don't do loose powder
I bought a CVA Bobcat from Chinamart for $50. plus tax. It shot round balls like a house a fire. Our youngest son killed his first buck with it.
My grandfather bought this exact gun for me the day I was born. I'm 27 now and I still have it.
Nice to see real time, not dubbed in art. Never knew about .470 inch balls.

I have a Bobcat. It is just like this one. I got a Deer Slayer and it is the same gun in a wood stock.
That style was my first muzzle loader. I still have it. It shoots very well for an economical rifle.
Hello from a fellow Kentuckian. I enjoyed your video.
HOWDAY back.

I own one of these. Bought it used maybe 15 years ago for $40. Still shoots great, in fact I'm taking it to the range today!
What are they? I’m trying to figure that out

Well! I did not have high hopes for this rifle, but I am pleasantly surprised. Accurate for a smooth bore!
Rifled bore.
I live in upstate NY. Ues im a damn Yankee.lol. but we say if you dont like the weather. Wait 5 minutes it well change

you've developed a flinch just loading that thing..
Lol good point Daniel Boone did not die of starvation I got to remember that one

Dude, ur accent is american AF xdd, Great shooting and great video!
I've always wanted a muzzleloader for fun a cap and ball and some cap lock to go with it but the prices of them have gone way up here
They are getting hard to find.
The first one I bought cost $97 and it was in 1997, the other one $225 2018
Did you read the manual first? Lol just having fun. I enjoy the vids
Heard there's a place at the land between the lakes with a rich target environment
You heard right.
Awesome 👍👍
I ENJOY WATCHING AND APPRECIATE THE KNOWLEDGE
THANK YOU
Thank you.
Hay buddy what's the best budget friendly 32 cal muzzle loader but a good one for squirrels
Mine loads kinda hard with a .15 patch and a .480. but it t ignites quick. I'll just have to order meself a smaller mold.
I've always wanted to get into shooting some black powder
It's a lot of fun.

Do you have to fill out a background check to purchase muzzle loaders? Thanks for the videos and stay safe.
No
Not a firearm under title 18 u.s. code.
You can have them shipped to your home

I got one just like it for 50.00 dollars but for shorting u can't beat it I put bullet hole in bullet hole but it is cheap
George, what are you hearing about black powder availability with Goex plant off-line?
I think they changed hands. A E.U. firm has it now. They had been under cut by swiss. And other makers were buying Kn03 form them. So they just sold out.
Is that Big Foot or an 👽 running in your video?😅
I'd sure like to know who sells any type of black powder gun for $100 or even $150 today.
Hold the fuck up.i had to rewind the intro 😂
I have to just like it but their traditions they are Tac drivers once with fiber optic the other ones a red dot
You ever try tow instead of patching the ball.
Tow???????????????
George where did you pick this item up at?
👍
I never use "cheap" and "firearm" in the same sentence.
Wat kind of CVA is that 50cal muzzleloader u r shooting and loading sir
Bob Cat.
Will that thing take down a Bigfoot or a dogman?
dope is something you apply to your sights for a given range and wind conditions, not figuring out how to start a ball.

Why don't you use pyrodex Pellets? Screw loose powder now
