    This is like the fountain of youth with so many insanely great benefits. Microneedling works by causing microwounds in the skin that essentially cause your skin to signal to create more collagen to aid in healing. It is also called collagen induction therapy. This collagen is what nets the benefits listed above. This even helps with delivery of ingredients such as minoxidil, which will aid in 2-3x more hair growth as per studies.
    So your skin is made up of layers. The top one we see is called the epidermis and right under that is the dermis. The dermis lies around .5 mm deep to 1.2mm deep on a male face, depending on the person and area of the face. When the dermis is penetrated from microneedling, this is when "pinpoint" bleeding will occur and this means you are ready to reap the great benefits of microneedling.
    You can do this with a dermaroller, they are cheap and easy, no need to purchase deeper than .5mm depth for these. I prefer use of a dermaneedling device such as the Derminator 2. Haven't tried the Dr.Pen, but it seems to work well too.
    Safety wise. Cleanliness is the absolute key. Some dermatologists & creators will want to scare you off of this, but at home needling is very well studied and if you take care, it is unlikely you will have issues. If you feel uncomfortable, maybe try getting this done professionally first and take note of how it is done so that you can do it at home and save $300-$400 every time you needle. Wear Gloves, Disinfect all surfaces and devices you will be touching with 70% isopropyl alcohol.
    Don't needle over
    Active Acne
    Psoriasis
    Eczema
    Don't needle too deeply, there really isn't much need to go over a depth of 1.5mm on the face, and be care for a nerve on the neck and around the temple that sits 3-5 mm deep and will cause major issues if you knick it.
    -Wash your face with a cleanser not using exfoliating actives
    - swab the face with an alcohol wipe
    - Put on latex/protective gloves
    See the video guide for step by step on how to use the needling device.

      I use mine around 6-12 times each. I dip the neeldes in 70% isopropyl alcohol in a bottle cap for a few minutes. both before and after use. After use I also check to make sure I don't have dead skin cells or anything between the needles and get those out either with a cleaning brush or toothpick.

    • @The.ModernMan
      @The.ModernMan  Před 8 měsíci

      Definitely wouldn't do 1.5 on my face every week. That would be a minimum 3-4 week recovery. You might feel and look recovered after 2-3 days, but recovery still continues. I noticed when I tried doing deep needling frequently, my face started to look extra puffy and people thought I had cheek filler. You can find out what works best for you, but for hairline, you can get away with more frequency since it's not visible like your face. I did 1.5 on my scalp weekly and had no issues, but eventually I got tired of feeling 1.5mm on my scalp weekly, it's not fun.

    • @The.ModernMan

      Sadly puffy eyes(outside sleeping+not having a complete shit diet), are typically procedure based to do much anything with. There's temporary things to improve the appearance, but they are temporary.(Gua Sha, Ice, Caffeine) stuff like that

    Is it worth microneedling dark eye circles at all? Or eyes in general. In my experience for whitening effect tretinoin is more effective

    • @The.ModernMan
      @The.ModernMan  Před rokem +1

      So dark circles under the eyes can be complex. They can be from skull structure, veins being very close to the top of the skin or your standard hyperpigmentation. Needling will typically only have a very very light benefit to this as a result of having smoother fresher more refined skin. I needle my eyes, but they are definitely something to do with a lot of caution.
      I currently use tret, hydroquinone, needling, a large amount of peptides and high doses of vitamin c. Can tell you my eye circles hardly have changed with all that due to bone structure. But if I was to go get some filler, it would make a big difference. Will probably try that at some point since I’m getting up there in age now.

      @@The.ModernMan Thank you! I thought it can make things worse by making blood cells get stuck in there or something. Meaning discoloration, maybe even worsening rosacea. It doesn't do that, especially if it's a pen type microneedler, right?
      Tbh the color isn't too bad, either way maybe it will get better a bit with tretinoin. However now I got wrinkles under the eyes, because I got back on minox and I ate too much salt and minerals. Had very puffy eyes for a few nights. Well I guess it can't be permanent unless I keep bloating myself and use minox for more than 2 years. Plus I'm only in my late 20s. Will moisturize, tret and needle. Still kinda sucks to look at photos from only a few months back and not see those lines...
      Minoxidil experience in general was a bit upsetting. I write a txt log but I didn't do it well so it got confusing. But basically I had a Kirkland bottle from batch #1 and I used it all June and July. June nothing much happened but July is when hairs appeared. I bought more, 3 were from batch #2, 2 from batch #3. I started using from one from batch #2 and got a psoriasis flare up in a few days. In logs I see that I connected the dots right away but for some reason I couldn't figure out to try batch #3. From there only I confused my own self with all kinds of weird theories and used that faulty bottle haphazardly all August and September, 22 ml in total. This October I finally thought of trying another bottle. I'm glad my skin is reacting fine, doesn't even sting or dry out too much, but hairs are falling out only more rapidly. I know, it's just shedding, it should start growing next month, but I'm still upset because I'm basically starting over. Feels like June and July were wasted because that one messed up bottle made me stop. Not only I (seemingly?) didn't gain permanent hair, but I also got these drawbacks like under eye wrinkles!
      Anyway... since this is a blog-worthy wall of text already, I may as well drop some of my other thoughts I had for a while. I see you changed your branding. I'm not an expert, but "modern man" seems too common. But I could be wrong, after all when I yt search "modern man microneedling" I actually get 4 of your videos as first results(however it wasn't so good when searching "modern man skincare" which was my first attempt). Plus I will admit that a few months back when I needed to find your channel, I forgot this "self-aware care" name. It's catchy but I remember it right now only because I screenshotted one of your comments. So I guess this was a good call for you to re-brand. Nevermind!
      Also, I think it could be good to attach a real name to your brand. Like "Derek from More plates more dates". I thought about this because I was thinking of asking of something in the comments, but wasn't sure how to start it because I didn't know how to address you. "Hi, Modern Man!" feels like it would be disrespectful to do it like that. If you did mention your name, then my B, I didn't pay attention.

      @@SurrogateActivities hahah. This is a wall. Yeah, so basically I started out as a chemist who was planning on launching a skincare brand for men. I wanted to mostly do TikTok and Insta to get any following male or female just so people would take me seriously when I launch.
      I got tired of doing most purely skincare stuff and that’s when I rebranded. Felt like just skin and hair was too small of a niche to get going and my expertise is really across all things personal care. Now I have a lot more fun being able to select from a more broad set of topics. All of which aid to the same goals of better outcomes for men. Still doing s skincare line in February.
      Adding in my name could be a good idea. I think once I get to a few thousand subs, I should start showing up more easily in search. The first 1000 is the hardest part, once you get monetized, you get more of an algo push.
      Bummer about the psoriasis stuff. These products usually work extremely well, but everyone is different and things can be unpredictable. And yes, microneedling is usually pretty good for rosacea :). Wild about the eye wrinkles, would be curious to see what you’re talking about.

      You can apply it before or after. That’s how it was done in studies. Yeah a standard Minox is around 70-80% alcohol. The foam stuff works too. Burns a little for maybe 5 seconds. Some people may need to wait 12-24 hours or they will get irritation. Never happens for me

      I wouldn’t use a vitamin c cream because ascorbic acid doesn’t do well in most cream vehicles and you don’t want to introduce unnecessary ingredients to the face post needling. Ebanel lidocaine cream works.5%
      I would either make the vitamin c fresh with just water /glycerin or get skinceuticals(expensive af) or a dupe of skinceuticals like Timeless, Maelove, or the Booster from Paula’s choice.
