His first few albums gave me comfort when I needed it. His loss was devastating to me.
Another upbeat, poppy but more musically complex song is "Independence day". His acoustic stuff is some of his best though, i like "southern belle". Hes my #1 solo artist ever. Hes the beatles but one guy.

His guitar work can be pretty intricate for a singer songwriter. For example the song "somebody i used to know" has a really fun melody and i remember being 13 or 14 trying to learn it and it was quite the exercise. Now its second nature but "and so the story goeeeesss when i leavvvee will you leeet me gooooooooo"
