    I have visited both summer and winter many times since the 1980s and spent a full winter season there in 1992. I think I skied over 100 days! One of the best years of my life!

    First skied in Steamboat in 1971. I remember the Palma lift to the top of Storm Peak. Very few people around back then and low lift prices. This was my very first time riding a gondola. Came back for the Ski season in 1974 and 75. Bought a home in the area called Whitewood in 1986, with a great view of the ski area. Truly some of my most memorable memories and friendships that I have today. Ray Selbe, Steve Brown and Rick Minor to name a few. John Dever and I spent many a day skiing and enjoying all that Steamboat had to offer. Really miss the Tugboat saloon!

    I lived in Steamboat from 2012 to 2016 and it was a great experience. I could be a kid and run around the complex of Condos with my dog, screaming as loud as I wanted to and no one would care. Best town ever. Everyone is so nice.

    That famous ski poster with the guy and gal on horseback in front of the barn was shot in the early 70's. Billy Kidd, use to ski down from the top of the gondola station at high noon. I believe there was a young man that used to paraglide down from mid Mountain to the base. He ended up crashing one day, and that was the end. I wonder if the Lighted man is still skiing?

      Thanks Gary, be sure to check out our Steamboat Stories series, highlighting Jo Semotan (the woman behind the iconic Steamboat barn poster), and Billy Kidd talking about his 1'oclock run down Heavenly Days. And, to answer your question, YES. You can still catch the lighted man making his runs during Winter Carnival's night festivities each year.

    I was in Steamboat for my first time for the Winter Festival this year. Great town. I loved the National Anthem before the parade 🇺🇸

    We’re tired of the town council caring more about tourism, wearing a mask 24/7, and their socialists views, that’s why we live in oak creek, and do our business, and shopping in Craig.....

    The video is badly made. I can’t see anything special for this town except a few of people talk to video cameras

    • @garyjones3142
      @garyjones3142 Před rokem

      The video is from long ago, more than 50 years ago and home made. 1963 to about 1972 I believe.
