"Paul Heyman was the best at getting the most out of the least" - Jim Cornette
AMEN
Agreed.
So many ECW talent shoot interviews are ,
"Oh ya, Heyman still owes me money...but I love the guy "
@Old Man problem there is Vince wasn't a fan of ECW. Kinda like the dumb statement that Eric got the nwo idea from ecw lol.

Paul Heyman is the type of guy that would serve me Peanut Butter & Jelly & convince me it's Thanksgiving Dinner. The peanut butter as (Yams), the jelly as (cranberry sauce) & the bread as (stuffing). I'd ask where's the Turkey & he say, "It's vegan!"
I could hear him saying "Noooo don't worry about it it's VEEEGAAAAANNN come on you know Paul E is here for ya."
I like that, that's a good analogy 😂
Saw an old interview with RVD. He was telling a story in which Paul was featured. RVD introduced him to the tale by saying;
"Paul Heyman. He doesn't mind lying"
"Beulah supposedly got pregnant after Tommy Dreamer was piledriving her all the time..." I wonder if Brian did that intentionally.
Would be interesting to see Jim & Paul have a one-on-one talk, or have them included in a future Table for 3.
I'd pay PPV prices to see that
Only if somebody like Michael Hayes moderates.
Throw Vince Russo in there 😂
@@TheRedScareIsAlive Russowould bring nothing of value to the conversation.
Jim, Paul, and JR on table for 3 would be reason enough to subscribe to the cock.
'small' guys were different back in the ECW days. Jericho, Eddie, Benoit etc. were all considered 'small' guys. They all pushed for smaller performers to be showcased. Shawn Michaels in WWF, Brett Hart etc. they were all considered 'small' guys compared to the Hogan's, Warrior's and Luger's... It wasn't about being the size of Spike Dudley. It was about being smaller than the 'roid filled basketball player height guys.
After the steroid trial. nothing to do with jericho, Eddie, benoit.
Its so crazy to think benoit was considered a small guy back then. I think they called him a vanilla midget. Wow, he was freaking huge to most people.

Jim Cornette is one of The Mount Rushmore of best wrestling managers in the wrestling industry.
Jim Cornette, Bobby Heenan, Ted DiBiase, Paul Heyman imo
@@popeluigi My opinion is Jim Cornette, Freddie Blassie, Sonny King, Bobby Heenan
Other ways, Paul and Jim are different. Mobile phones have got much smaller over the years. Paul would struggle to hit anyone with any impact with a modern mobile phone. Tennis rackets however still whack quite a punch.
It depends, those big screen iPhone maxes have a big ol' battery and a metal body, so one of those could do some damage. Just have to be careful to not have the screen break in the process so you don't get glass shards flying, and thus a shoot injury.
Michael Kirchner[1][4] (born Michael Penzel; September 7, 1957 - December 22, 2021)[1] was an American professional wrestler and a United States Army paratrooper. He was best known for his appearances with the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE) under the ring name Corporal Kirchner in the mid-1980s. He was also known for his appearances in W*ING under the ring name Leatherface.[6][7] Penzel died of a heart attack on December 22, 2021, at the age of 64.
Seriously? 😞
Bruce Prichard said in his podcast “Cornette is a country version of Heyman and Heyman is a sophisticated Cornette.”
On Ten Ways He & Paul Heyman ARE Similar And Different*****
YES. Please change the title to this. It's hurting my brain.
@@ktd522 same
This article was clearly written by the "did you know your car's warranty has expired" guy and then dropped into Google translate without any editing done by an English speaking person.
They also both started out in the business as ringside photographers.
The whole edgy/attitude pulling back the curtain thing may have ultimately destroyed the business, but man it was a wild ride while it lasted.
Because it didn't.
Heyman's ECW gave us badass cool heels, as opposed to the all too typical, tired "chickenchit" ineffectual variety. '95-'96, it's peak, it was GREAT! Re-ignited my love for pro wrestling. Funk, Cactus, Guerrero, Malenko, Mysterio, etc, etc. A lot of hallowed names appeared at the ECW arena during that time (Austin, Dr. Death, Gordy, The Steiners, Pillman). So much more than "smoke and mirrors".
ECW didn’t give us that, most of those guys passed through ECW and were able to work on their characters. Most of those guys became made in wcw or wwf, yes Heyman provided an alternative but by no means did he create those characters. Those wrestlers were all responsible for their own success not Heyman.
@@cesarpac3723 lol sure. Yes that's why so many guys call themselves Heyman guys. Without ecw you don't get the attitude era. Paul was more influential to wrestling then cornette is
@@happytomakeyousick4172 that’s a recent thing, back in the day no one called themselves that. Truth is ecw was kinda shitty, some of the guys did pass by there on their way to the wwf but ecw was never a successful organization.
Not all Shane would be almost of old school mixed with the modern product at the time and corino was bad ass just a chicks hit heel that could get heat especially with the hardore wcw audience and probibly my 2 favorite heels in all of ecw
@@cesarpac3723 yes talents like sandman, sabu , taz, raven, shane douglous and new jack were more talents made by Heyman, but funk, foley, austin funk, dr death was already a star and foley and Austin really didnt do much in ecw aside from promos for the most part the best thing I can say about haymen is he certain can hide a wrestlers flaws and show their strengths in their talent
When Jim talks about what ECW-style stories wouldn't fly in the Rust and Bible belts...the crazy thing is, the Tommy/Beulah/Kimona reveal got ECW kicked off TV in New York City. And almost for good. The MSG Network kicked them off not too long after and "technically" never let them back on .
At 26 mins about Paul Heyman & Cornette having the same enemies and being the same back stage.. no chance. They couldn't be more different.. Heymans issue come from being two faced, backstabbing and or lying whereas Cornettes is usually being over truthful and or tied to his vision, in a sense.
No one (from all the autobiographies and shoots I've watched/read, has called Jim two faced or betrayed etc (not including that dweeb Russo), but Heyman has a line of people saying he done them over.. lol
Dumb comparison.
I love JR and Lawler together but I really enjoyed Heyman on commentary in 2001. He was so good I didn’t even miss Lawler, to be honest.
In my opinion, JR and Heyman were a better commentating team than JR and Lawler
I remember clearly his first night. it was the same night, they did the thing on Raw where Vince had Trish strip. Paul said hey mom I'm in Washington and I'm going to see Bush.
Well, in all fairness, unlike JR and Lawler, Heyman and Ross had already had some chemistry/experience together since they announced together in WCW '90-'91 and had known each other for years.
Lawler is too immature. I love the Ventura/Heenan types. That's why Heyman/Macho Man & other's will always be ranked higher. I don't mind Lawler. He was great during the era of puppies. However he kept his job too long. There is a time and place for him.
@@ModernDayRenaissanceMan Continuing on and standing against positive change is culpable. Doing that when things are falling apart like Lawler and Taker is laudable.
Man you gotta give credit where it's due. I didn't even realize they were doing a keeps commercial for the first twenty seconds or so.
This was just hilarious. I love it when poor Brian has to try to interpret questions and such from people who are shall we say "grammatically challenged" because you can almost his brain screaming when that happens.
Ohh poor brian huh. Idgaf bout Brian. His voice ruins this whole channel.

I spit my coffee out when he said that "mashing minjes" line! Classic!

Both of these guys are great, but Heyman is more about the shock value side of things and Cornette is more traditional. I’ve gotta say that wrestling has the best personalities
That article was so poorly done it almost pissed me off because you can do a good one comparing and contrasting the two. They're basically the northern and southern versions of each. Both got their starts in similar ways, both had similar career paths, and both have clashed the McMahons. There is an intelligent article to be written about this, and that article wasn't it
"Paul Heyman and Jim Cornette are all time greats as managers." Yep. I'd list them both right behind Bobby Heenan.
Add Gary Hart and J.J. to that list
Jim is completely wrong about VA. We had ECW here since '94 and people loved it - it was hugely popular. And people liked the risky angles.
Exactly I was thinking the same thing
Yep. The good ole PEN TV days when ECW came on at midnight followed by random 'Japanimation'.
not to mention when Dreamer showed up in Memphis to attack Lawler he was cheered even though he was attacking the hometown hero. Cornette underratesjust how popular ECW was
Thank you ! Came here to say this !
I've been watching SMW and ECW when Paul took the book. SMW had better wrestling and production, while ECW had unpredictability where anything could happen. Both were great in their own rights
"The past of Jim Cornette saw him used to have a close relationship with Vince McMahon..."
Was that dude getting paid by the word?!
are, not “is”.
SMW was what Vince would deride as "rasslin'". I can't say I disagree.
Almost blew snot when Jim said mashing minges, what a lad!
I think things like the Van Daminator and Van Terminator are great wrestling moves. RVD never abused either move to the point where it became irrelevant. It was always used to set uo the finish or was the finish itself. Technically, Heyman had nothing to do with those moves. RVD came up with that on his own, Heyman just stole it and gave it to Shane Mcmahon.
The Van Daminator was legit the coolest thing I had ever seen in wrestling when I saw it for the first time on Smackdown or RAW. It looked CRAZY good.
Hyeman didn't steal the move lmao Shane's the one who did it and he was a big ECW fan so he def knew it was RVD's move. Shane did the move, he stole it.
@@higler. RVD said himself that Paul told Shane of the move.
@@sirnetflix7162 guess I don't know all the details
the Van Terminator was awesome and the Van Daminator had some logic to it because Fonzie would throw the chair so catch it or get hit in the face with a chair what are they going to do right? then he gets it kicked in his face.
Honorable mention for how they are similar - Cheeseburgers!!
Both like their food.
Malenko, Guerrero, Mysterio were in ECW for about 5 minutes. The had about as much ring time for Heyman as Gronk has in WWE lol.
Malenko was there for a bit. he was there before ecw split from the nwa in 94 and stayed until 95. Rey and Eddie both probably weren't there over a few months.
I cannot believe the number of people commenting on the bad grammar and use of words while at the same time using bad grammar and bad use of words in their comments.
Corney cracks me up. I love his podcast. 😆
I’ll throw some astrology in the mix, since I was shocked that after all the comparisons going back to the Midnights stuff, their birthdays ended up being only like a few days apart. The amount of parallels between Jim and Paul are amazing.
They are both Virgos lol
Rey Mysterio didn't fuck up as much as Rey Fenix does. Rey Fenix is Rey Mysterio if you ordered him from Wish.
Didn't Rey Mysterio kill someone with a 619 or am I wrong?

So far nothing on Jim Cornette's and Brian Last discussing Jimmy Rave's death this month.
Also, yesterday, former WWE and FMW star Corporal Kirchner (Mike Penzel, aka Leatherface/Super Leather) has passed away at the age of 64. One notable moment from Penzel’s WWE career was the WrestleMania 2 Flag Match win over WWE Hall of Famer Nikolai Volkoff, which took place during the Rosemont Horizon portion of the show.
Give it time…
so?
Both gone now sadly enough. For the jovial side of a couple of late greats "Mean" Gene Okerlund gives up Mic Time to Nikolai Volkoff who serenades one and all with his version of Don Ho's "Tiny Bubbles." Okerlund's reaction is more nearly like Ole's would be, which gets Volkoff tickled where he looks and sounds like Kevin Owens's uncle!😂🤣😂🎤🍷🤼♂️B.W.
This article is both misleading and a hit piece. It said 10 things similar and different... thinking it has 2 lists of ten, ten things alike and ten things different. Also, after hearing how wonderfully worded some of these sentences are put together in the article, English is either the second language used by the author, or the second language used by the editor.
The writer and editor are American. America has a high rate of gramatically challenged people which is why top sites don't hire American writers, example would be the title of this particular video written by Brian Last "He & Paul Heyman Is Similar & Different". People who have English as a second language are more proficient.
Other than Spike Dudley I think the only other actually small wrestler Paul Heyman booked in a semi strong way on television was James Ellsworth. Back when he had creative input a few years ago and Ellsworth was like a featured attraction for a while. Let's not forget he was booked to be AJ Styles and then aligned with Carmella.
Thank God Ellsworth is out of the business. He should have been kicked out immediately after getting his ass kicked by Braun Strowman. The most cringey thing about Ellsworth was his first promo. If you go back and watch it and listen, it was as if he didn't know how to cut a promo. I don't get why Vince was so high on James Ellsworth, and I never will, but I'm thankful that I don't need to see him on TV.
I think the Sportster is from Quebec- including the French speaking parts
39:20 finally someone described grunge as what it actually was.

Who wrote this title? I feel like Brian trying to read this. But in this instance, what I'm reading actually is poorly worded.
I forget who said it, but somebody like a JR or Bruce Pritchard said Jim Cornette and Paul Heymen were the same guy. That Jim was the country version and Paul was the city version and that was the difference.
Bruce Prichard called Jim Cornette a sophisticated southern Paul Heyman in an interview with Jim and Brian on Arcadian Vanguard channel
Not that long ago, in one of the interviews John Cena did with Chris Van Vliet, I remember him saying that WWE promos where not what most people thought they were and that they were indeed mostly bullet points. I don’t remember if he mentioned it that wwe for everyone. Maybe that was true for Cena and John didn’t know about everyone else’s promo format.
I wanna see what Jim thinks about Danhausen getting over at AEW without even being signed yet

That Lana Lashley stuff made Lashley must-see tv. Otherwise, he looks like prime wagyu beef but tastes like a generic burger; his stage presence is just not there and it's hard to tell if it's booking or him or all of the above.

Cornette is a Kubrick, not a Spielberg. "Do it again, do it right, and stop fucking up. We'll be here all night if we gotta."
I don;t think stature is a problem today. I think its that wrestlers today A LOT of them don't carry themselves like grown men. That are physical threats. Rey Mysterio always did.
