This is a great rock band that started in the 70's. Ann Wilson has one of the most powerful female voices. And her sister Nancy can play a mean guitar. They have had so many great hits such as "Barracuda", "Crazy on You", "Magic Man", "What About Love", "Never", "Dog & Butterfly", "These Dreams" etc. In 2012 Ann & Nancy performed at the Kennedy Center Honors in a tribute to Led Zeppelin doing their classic song "Stairway To Heaven".
And a killer cover of Unchained Melody!
Ann Wilson, born June 19, 1950, is still touring in 2023.

Ann's vocals are an absolute force of nature. She can be as gentle as a soft spring breeze, and in an instant she can become a hurricane!! I once heard her voice described as a sledgehammer, wrapped in velvet.

They are phenomenal
So glad you enjoyed this. Heart is an iconic rock band, sister-powerhouse, punching it through the decades. The fact that they didn't get Rock and Roll Hall of Fame until 2013 highlights the seamy male domination of the industry.
This is one of my favorite Heart songs because both ladies are showcased so nicely. You're right - it's melancholic, but it's also sultry, the way Ann can break and soften her voice to portray that mood. And she's just so exquisitely precise with her vocalizing.
Since you asked, my very favorite is a video of Heart doing Crazy On You, live in 1978, I think. It opens up with Nancy doing a lovely and funky acoustic solo and intro, and then, boom, she and then Ann take over the stage. And it's such a gorgeously constructed song.

@@MrsPenPal, I am new to your channel. I just clicked on it. Perfect! Like you, I was entirely taken up with Nancy's acoustic solo, but Ann was a force of nature with her nonpareil vocals.
These sisters brought so much lyrically and musically to rock and roll. We are lucky to have had them for us.
Nancy rarely gets due credit for her singing ability. She has an amazing voice! In fact, on their first top 40 hit, "These Dreams", it is Nancy, not Ann, who performed the astounding lead vocals. The lady can SANG!
I love this hard rocking ballad. Power ballad, rock ballad, all of it. The emotional passion in Ann’s high notes is incredible. My fave Heart tune, and one of their best songs in my book.

Heart is still singing today, that might not sound like much but since they started in the 70s that means they have out lasted majority of the top rock bands and ahead of that they have out lasted majority of the top rated 70s male bands and are even singing some of their songs today.

This song was in the 80s after they made their comback to music, their career sttarted in the 70s. A lot of controverise in this song. They basically cut Ann out of the video because she had put on lots of weight. It was a huge issue back in the day. They didn't even know until they saw the video on MTV

My favorite song by my all-time favorite band. Alone came out in the '80s, but I was a teenager in the '70s when I saw them in concert. I was hot for Ann at that time. They were even better live. Not a huge production, just awesome talent.

I love the song, but hated how they treated such an icon as Ann Wilson. She had some weight gain, but still looked great. They flaunted her sister, while covering up Ann. It's a beautiful song, but Ann deserved better in this vid. I loved your review thought. 🥰

This was at a time when the studio tried to put Ann out of the picture as she had gained a lot of weight and didn't fit their image of what the band should look like. That's why she's up on the balcony or shot from the waist up.
If you want to hear Nancy sing lead check out "These Dreams" and check them from the beginning, back in the seventies I recommend "Barracuda", "Magic Man", "Crazy On You", "Straight On" to start with.
I saw them back in 1977.
