So Ragnar (Odin) embraced christianity because in Ragnarok, Odin dies, and that's why he became christian guy. That's how I interpret this show. God bless :)

Hvitserk. Ivar's fate was to be killed by Hvitserk but he took fate into his own hands and died in battle to save Hvitserk. Hvitserk became a Christian, as Ragnar did, and the twilight of the Gods began. The pagan / Christian story continues in Vikings Valhalla.
Well he didn't want to defeat his gods. Ivar literally states that the only reason he helps Oleg is to gain control of Norway and stage a rebellion against him.
