I was listening to Rory's album, Swing Expedition, and I was thinking,
Wow! The piano player and clarinet player are also incredible!
Then I found out they were all Rory.

i went to school with this guy till 8th grade he was talented then and still is, way to go rory!
Used to watch him play drums in his family's band when he was just a kid. I think he was like 5 years old the first time I saw them. Impressive.
Rory’s rhythm is more electrifying than just about everybody’s lead playing. It made me wonder if his unique technique drives his originality, or if he’d be just as fresh even if he played the regular way.
There are some impressive people that lived, live and will live in this world, I am thankful to just see some of them and what they do.
His playing is nothing short of miraculous!
If you ever feel sorry for blind people or other unfortunate people don't, cause Roy is an inspiration!

What fantastic playing ! The song with which Rory opens the proceedings would be hard enough to play in normal position, but to play it on the lap with hand on top like a piano is mind boggling. Fantastic!

He said there is no video of him playing with Kenny Burrell but there is! I watched it before watching this video! Haha You can see exactly when Burrell tells him who he is and Rory is all surprised, very cool video

Saw this guy playing with the Tennessee Twisters at Benchmark on 2nd in Nashville. I was floored at just how good Rory is. He's also a killer sax player, accordion player, and probably a lot more.
There are lots of extraordinarily good guitarists running around, and Rory is one of the best.

So often it seems that Rory's playing is overshadowed by the fact that he's blind. It's cool that it's an inspiration to people and everything, but I've heard him live and his playing is world class - sighted or not.

By the way, Rory. I watched you play that day at NAMM 2005 for about 45 minutes before I realized you had a right-handed guitar, strung right handed, and you were playing it left handed, flat on your lap. You played some terrific bass lines part of the time while Henry Johnson and Kenny Burrell took turns comping and playing lead. You were absolutely right at home with them and had the ears and understanding of harmony to blend in perfectly with two masters. Get in touch about the video I have.

Spike Jones had a player in his band in the late 50's who played like Rory. There was a video on YT, now gone, that showed him in the back playing a right handed Fender Jazzmaster in a seated left-handed position.
I'm amazed how Rory invented many unique chord positions, only able to be played as he does.

Thanks for the upload. Rory might be pleased to know there IS video coverage of the session with Kenny Burrel and it's on CZcams: "Kenny Burrel at NAMM 2004 with Rory Hoffman". There are other sessions too (eg Henry Johnson who seems to calm everybody down and bring some soul to the playing of all three - very nice)

Hey, Rory! @12:00 you talk about playing with Kenny Burrell at the NAMM Show, Heritage Guitars Booth. I remember how stunned you were when the "other guy" introduced himself as Kenny Burrell. Yes, he had you stay on to play with him as he demo'd the new Heritage Kenny Burrell Model. There was a third guitarist with you, Henry Johnson, who also had a Heritage Signature Model guitar. You made some great music!
