That's usually how it works. High instruments have more resistance.

There are so many different fingerings and so many different approach to this, that it would be impossible to do a video, I'd highly recommend a book though, either "Saxophone Altissimo - Robert Luckey" or "Top-Tones for the Saxophone by Sigurd Rascher" both available from a very well known saxophone shop...sax.co.uk ;)

@@locten4949 big carl the tuba is an absolute monster to even handle. Derek, who played it on a youtube video called "Playing a Titanic Tuba" said it would probably require 4 sets of lungs, and I don't blame him!

I know that this seems strange, but it reminds me of that old Pocoyo Racing game for the Wii - the end of each race tune sounds similar, especially when the bass sax went like G-Gb-F.
I wish I picked the saxophone in elementary. I play the euphonium but saxophones have such a nice sound and I prefer reeds anyway.

@@ajhauter5049a good sopranino will cost THOUSANDS and I got lucky on my soprano, used Selmer SS600 for $750, market price is $~2500. Only had it for a day, works perfect, and I love it to death

Very different, the Baritone is in Eb and the Bass is in Bb below the Baritone, and just generally, the Bass is a larger instrument.

Amazing tone from the sopranino, very dark and rich for being such a small instrument. The bass sax sounded great as well but at times it sounded like he was slapping the reed.

You would be able to play it, but, you wouldn't be able to play it with the recording, as Soprano's are in Bb and Sopranino's are in Eb, so it would need transposing.
This is just amazing. I'm a saxophone player and when I listen to you it gives me more will than a Coltrane or a Parker !

does it take a lot of air for the bass sax? you breathe after about every note
Bear in mind, Scott's probably on about his 7th take there, so he's probably getting a little worn!
I play baritone saxophone (the one above bass) and I have to take a breath about every 2 measures or so, so that the sound comes out with a nice tone. It also depends on what notes are being played and what the melody is. For something like this, taking more breaths is common than if you were to play whole notes.
And like Sax .co.uk said, after a few takes on something like this your lungs do get tired :3
Yes, but for more experienced players like him can continue for about 4-8 measures, unless he circularly breathes

I As well Play Bari Sax but in marching band And I can do 2-3 Measures per breath Playing Low D-A, but I'm Sure Bass Takes a little bit more air. :p
