The most honest & knowledgeable salesman in the business. I could listen to Mr Matthewson talk sense about cars all day long.

I've had my Daimler V8 twenty two years and she's still a dream to drive and only owned by three previous women.

I was a Jag mechanic in the 70s. If you wanted heavy experience, that was the make to learn on. Nearly every week there was an engine out, gearbox out, or rear diff out. As for oil leaks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Plus, that lovely little v8 weighed about half what the Jag XK engine did.

I really think the Jaguar engine he is referring to is the 2.8 ltr in the Mk 1 XJ6 saloon. It was not very good at all but the 3.4-3-8 & 4.2 lr were very sound and would cover considerable mileage providing they received regular servicing .

Yes I agree. The 2.8 also had hole in the piston problems. Very undersized engine. Manual was not to bad, but the auto would not pull the skin off a rice pudding.

Absolutely right, Daimler would always be my choice. A very decent looking old car.

And in another that he would pick a 4.2 over a V12 any day. He’s a salesman. That’s it.
