The Karnala Bird Sanctuary is located near to Mumbai and a popular bird watching destination for bird-watchers and hikers in the city of Mumbai. Karnala bird sanctuary is 10km from Panvel on Mumbai Goa highway.
Karnala Bird Sanctuary is home of many species of birds and some time rare spotting of Ashy Minivet and Malabar Trogon also reported.
At 12.11 sqm, Karnala Bird Sanctuary is comparably small compared to other bird sanctuaries in India. Despite its relatively small size, the sanctuary has more than 222 species of birds to boast. Spending a better part of your day here seeing the sanctuary’s inhabitants at their own home will surely become an experience of your lifetime.
The two major attractions for tourists here are the Karnala Bird Sanctuary and the Karnala Fort.The sights and sounds of Mumbai are unique and is worthy of your time.
Can reach the top in 2.5 Hours Max. I am suggesting this because during monsoon, this trek is easy for beginners and have some nice points where you can click photographs and have the mesmerizing view.

7am to 4pm
Entry fees :
Parking charges : 25 Rs
Adult. : 30 Rs Per Person
Extra charges for other equipment like camera etc.
(Not allowed to carry any food items)

Nice video about karnala.... But I want to ask one thing why the birds are in cage just imagine lush greenery outside and the beautiful birds in cage in a forest .. my heart breaks and people don't say anything about it.. no doubts enjoy the trek but why to keep them in cage?
Actually its heartbreaking ... Even i feel bad seeing them in cage but we cant help it .. Government has kept that birds in cage so that everyone can see birds and enjoy the nature.

After this place became a tourist stop, all birds stopped coming lol. Now only monkeys are there. Fortunately, the climb is so long that no one spends night up there.
