    Before you beat me up for changing the oil too often - -remember it is very cheap insurance and care for your engine. Our engines last a very long time!

    Jay, try Shout laundry pre-cleaner for bike wash. Blast off the chunks, soak with Shout. Let it sit then come back and hose off. It has a good, neutral pH that doesn't hurt anodizing or aluminum. I also use Kroil for loosening stuck fasteners. Kroil is expensive but so much better than PB Blaster. Give it time to let it work.

    Shell t4 is definitely good stuff. Ive used quaker 1040 oil as well on a pinch with good success but mabye i got lucky wit that one. Most important thing is to change the dang oil, its a 4 minute job.
    I use shell currently in my klx125, and used it on a yz80, xl185, XR80, and piranha 90. I find it performs well especially with air cooled motors since theyre the ones that get the hottest.

      To answer your question directly, yes Rotella reformulated but it's still great oil. If you have a engine with a catalytic converter the new formula will 100% cause premature Oxygen Sensor failure and clog the catalytic converters prematurely. If you absolutely beat the piss out of your motor, you'll be fine. New formula requires 1500f DPF filter temperatures. Rarely seen with regular vehicle street use, hence why you need to beat the piss outta it.

    *What about transmission (dexron 3) fluid in a GasGas Trials 2 stroke for the oil change?* It was in it when i bought it changed it out for the recommended oil later. Couldn't tell much of a difference ride wise, but hard to tell longevity. The price is much cheaper for trans fluid though.

      I dont see any reason you couldnt use Rotella - -But I am not a Trials guy bu their Tranny/clutch the same as the bikes we do run it in.

    Three pieces of safety wire on your grips vs glue. Won't slip, ever.

    The Rotella T4 is harder to find these days. but they usually have T5 and T6. Seems like only difference is T5 syn blend and T6 full syn. What are your thoughts about the Rotella T5 or T6?

    • @cgee2468
      @cgee2468 Před 4 měsíci +1

      T5 & T6 are too slippery. "May" cause clutch to slip. The T4 has a thicker viscosity

    Coolant question? You said, no mixing certain ones with regular coolant. Why? Would it really make a difference? In an emergency, would mixing be better than leaving the level low?

    • @austinatkins408

      MotoMadMan 45 causes them to jell when mixed so leave it low.

      I was mainly referring to the Evans Coolant type that is more of a Oil based and works well but does require that you dont mix with any other regular style Coolants we are used to.
