Bookers didn't chase world titles, per se... They were running the territory. So, Cody did his part to put over other talents vs chasing world titles or tag team titles (yes, he was the TNT champion, because that title needed to be elevated initially, not to feed his ego.)

Of course this was when Hunter was going by the names Jean Paul Levesque or Terra-Ryzing and basically being either enhancement talent or hired hand of Sir William Regal.
And speaking honestly his reign of terror that came in the 2000’s was him holding hostage let’s say a little title that was once owned by said company the World Heavyweight Title.

Both. I love AEW and WWE, that said WWE is still the leading brand and the WWE championship is a larger, more historic, and prestigious title. Now, I personally would rather wear the AEW belt over the current WWE belt so make of that as you will.

Key point he said "I didn't grow up dreaming of being in a secondary promotion" nothing to do with Cody.. he came up in the mid 90s when AEW wasn't even a thought... The only promotion back then that even rivaled WWF at the time was WCW an you all know what happened there hense the attitude era etc an seen as wrestling has only just started to have a glimpse of what it once was now Vince has finally fucked off an hunter has taken over says a lot. The guy knows what he is on about an only person that ever held Cody back an even his brother and father back was Vince. He came back as soon as Vince was out of the picture altogether
