- Es gibt bekanntlich viele Wege, um #Hartschaum bzw. #Styrodur zu strukturieren - eine Möglichkeit sind Strukturrollen. Wie man diese leicht selber bauen kann, um beim Geländebau viel Zeit zu sparen, erfahrt Ihr in diesem Video.

@@TabletopWorkshop wenn man das mal hochrechnet, ist man vielleicht bei der Rolle, wie ihr sie im Video habt, vielleicht bei 3 bis 4€ Gesamtkosten. Es muss eben nicht immer das teure Zeug sein. Coole Sache, weiter so!

Die besagte Rolle hat im 1€-Shop tatsächlich nur 1€ gekostet. Dazu etwas Leim, Wasser, Dekosteinchen und Strandsand von der Ostsee … Ich tippe auf 1,10 €. Maximal ;-)
@@TabletopWorkshop naja man darf halt nicht davon ausgehen, das jeder guten Leim zu Hause hat. Aber ja, gerade so Natursand, von irgend einem Strand, das hat was. Wenn man dann noch so bissl Muschelbruch dazufügt, gibts bestimmt nochmal ganz andere Struckturen.
Tolle Idee... das mit dem Papprohr könnte besser klappen wenn man sich im Baumarkt nen Teppichkern schnorrt. Die sind so dick das man die nicht mal eben zusammendrücken kann...

That's a neat idea; however, does the smaller grit and sand get a chance to touch the foam, or is all the damage done by the big bits of gravel?
Ya I had the same question, but can't understand it at all lol :(
It just depends on how hard you press on the XPS foam with the roller. The bricks and fieldstones example were done with light and medium pressure (as written in the german subtitles), but you can use more pressure of course.

It would have been better if you would have shown what the foam panel looked like when painted that way we could see if this texture method would work best on our projects
Thanks for your feedback. This tutorial is not about painting, so I didn't paint the examples. The examples are only for "getting a rough idea" how a selfmade rolling pin works. And because everybody can and will use different stones / sand there's no need to show how the structure of my rolling pin looks like in detail - in my opinion, of course.
Once again: This tutorial is about 'build your own rolling pin(s)" and get a general idea how easy it is - and not "rebuild my one exacly" :)
Ah, Tage später noch darüber nachgedacht - auch eine Lösung ist es durchaus dies auf eine Holzkugel aufzubringen um flexibler „unebene“ Geländeteile zu bearbeiten - statt dem vollmetallischen Universalstrukturierer. Schönen heiligen Abend 😃
Klar, Kugeln oder Platten lassen sich damit ebenfalls gestalten, um individuelle Strukturier-Werkzeuge zu bekommen. Bei Kugeln vielleicht vorher ein kleines Loch reinbohren, um einen Draht oder Nagel hineinzustecken, damit die Kugel gehalten und zum Trocknen aufhängt/abgestellt werden kann.

Könnt ihr mal ein Video über Epoxydharz machen? Ich weiß das es hier auf dem Kanal schon einige Beiträge dazu gibt, aber ich würde mich trotzdem noch über eine Zusammenfassung über das was man alles beachten muss freuen!
Bsp: auf welchen Materialien kann ich es verwenden, wie dichte ich am besten ab damit nix rausläuft...

Wie Du schon richtig sagst, gibt es schon TWS-Videos, in denen all diese Infos zu finden sind: Tipp in der Suchfunktion einfach "TWS Wasserfall" und "TWS Fluss" ein - ein eigenes Video zu Expoidharz ist vorerst nicht geplant.
Danke für die coole Idee! ich frage mich, ob das auch gut für eine klassische Ziegelstrukturrolle auch funktioniert, wenn man mit z.B. Greenstuff die flächen zwischen den Ziegeln als negativ moddeliert..
Einfach mal an einem kleinen Stück testen - das Negativ muss nur hart genug sein, damit es in den Hartschaum gedrückt werden kann.

when you try your roll you didn't try it on the blue foam, you tried it on that white one that takes impressions real easy.
Sorry, you're wrong: The color does NOT tell anything about the quality, properties or the sensivity of the foam. Because every manufacturer colours its XPS foam differently. Accordingly, light green XPS foam (I didn't use white foam) from one manufacturer can be great for crafting, but light green foam from another manufacturer is not.
The difference between different types of XPS foam is the compressive stress (or compressive strength / density) during production. This value is given in "kPa" (Kilo Pascal). XPS foam with at least 300 kPa is ideally suited for model and terrain construction.The higher the press density - and thus the kPa value - the smoother the surface of the XPS foam. In other words: you can already see the approximate quality from the lateral cut edges of a new hard foam panel: Is the surface as porous as a kitchen sponge? Don't buy it! ... Is it almost smooth? Grab it!And: Since XPS foam is pressed into boards during production, different firm sides are produced: The sides in the pressing direction are firmer (usually the top and bottom sides of a XPS foam board), the other sides slightly softer and easier to structure.
