Planet Comicon Kansas City 2023: Weekend Recap

Planet Comicon Kansas City, the region’s largest pop culture and comic book event, raised the roof with a record-setting 2023 show at Bartle Hall.
Our largest number of attendees yet made the 24th annual Planet Comicon the biggest show of the year at the Kansas City Convention Center. Television and big screen legends such as William Shatner, Richard Dreyfuss, Giancarlo Esposito and Elvira provided moments fans will never forget on the massive exhibit floor and on stage. Comic book industry icons such as Kevin Eastman (TMNT), Chris Claremont (New X-Men), Roy Thomas (X-Men and Avengers), Amanda Conner (Harley Quinn), and Garth Ennis (The Boys) helped Planet Comicon continue its mission of spotlighting the comic book industry and raising money for The Hero Initiative, an organization that helps comics industry veterans in financial need. 2023 also marked the introduction of our new literary cotillion KC Fae Ball featuring fantasy fashion and the most talked about party of the weekend.
Preparations have already begun for Planet Comicon Kansas City’s 25th-anniversary show, March 8-10, 2024, which promises to be a can’t-miss extravaganza. Planet Comicon made the announcement of its first comic book creator guest Francis Manapul (Flash/Detective Comics) and will do a special behind-the-scenes look at Season 2 of the Hulu Original Marvel’s Hit-Monkey. The first 2024 celebrity guests will be announced at a later date.
For fans who can’t wait an entire year for more Planet Comicon Kansas City entertainment, this October, the show that put Kansas City on the pop culture map is bringing you their first-ever celebration of the anime medium as Planet Anime Kansas City will take place October 21-22, 2023 at the Kansas City Convention Center.
