    I've bought some frame sliders for my Triumph. The local dealership offered me a cheaper version which apparently fit. Mine obviously didn't, which I only found out after the screws pierced my air intake... I didn't get my mobey back as I installed them on my own

    Not bike protection exactly, but I’d add to this list a folding gear shift lever. I have had to replace those things way more often than I’m comfortable with and nearly all times they bent, was from a simple tip over or poorly navigated slow speed maneuver 🙄

    Wanted to share my experience with radiator guards. I've noticed on my cfmoto 300cc motorcycle, the radiator guard I installed has somewhat thicker grate plate and in warmer days the temps go up close to the red zone almost overheating. But not really. I've not taken it off to see if it makes a difference since I've had the guard on since almost day one. I might have to drill out the holes to be slightly bigger.

    I like the idea of crash protection, but i never get them. Main reason is bc i have insurance. If you were to drop your bike most of the time the price of just 1 fairing is over the deductible. Ask me how i know😱

    The primary purpose of a frame guard isn’t to protect your bike’s frame - they do do that, and very well. But their main purpose is to protect your radiator or engine covers from catastrophic damage. If you hit the road hard, a crash can put holes through you engine covers, even breaking off parts of your engine case. This I have seen happen. And some radiators are as wide or wider than the engine, making them the first point of contact if you go over. Frame sliders take the strength and rigidity of your frame and take it out wider than the engine cases or radiator. Making it the primary impact point. Add to this engine case sliders and axle sliders and no part of your bike should touch the ground if in a moderate slide. You will still scratch fairing and other parts in the gravel, but these things shouldn’t get destroyed unless it is a major accident. And then, no slider is enough. But frame sliders are usually wider to take the initial shock of the bike going over. A muffler slider is a good idea if your exhaust is likely to be one of the points of contact. But at least these are easy to replace. Then you just need elbow sliders for the wicked corners you will do because you won’t be too afraid that you will drop your bike.

    Protecting the engine covers is probably a priority too.

    • @steffief9870
      @steffief9870 Pƙed rokem

      My same thought. I'm wondering if these frame sliders stick out enough that engine cover doesn't get hit đŸ€”

    I don't think radiator grid is doing any good. It MAY protect from big gravel impacts but it WILL restrict the air flow. Both by itself and by the dirt it will make uncleannable.
    The stickers on wheel hubs protection screws are very nice looking but you have to destroy them each and every time you want to remove a wheel.😱

  • @albertov9664
    @albertov9664 Pƙed rokem

    Lol at the radiator protector part, I just installed mine and also got no instructions, then realized how sad we had become as a species.
    Since when did men started to need instructions? or directions? just look at the part, see where the holes are, look at the bike, where the screws are, then go for it, what can go wrong? (well, many things, but thatÂŽs part of the fun, thatÂŽs how you learn: from screwing up).
    Take the dust of that wrench set and have fun.

      @@2WheelsGood.01 That's kinda good summary. I just wish there was an SP version though, the shock on the standard bike is not great.

      @@TheOriginalCoda I have the 2023 model, absolutely love it. It's totally fine with the factory shocks and adjustment. Then again, I just weigh 155lbs. I'm not racing or taking it to track days. SP would be nice, but the price premium isn't worth it for me.
