iKON has had a really harsh history. They were forced to go through two survival shows which delayed their debut for years. After finally debuting (under one of the most powerful Korean music companies at the time - YG [same as bigbang and now blackpink), they were considered "monster rookies" due to their insane popularity, which won them "best rookie group" from every away show that year. However, after a year of fame, they were shipped off to Japan and China, with the hopes of gaining popularity in other Asian countries. In China, they were forced (by YG), to participate in another survival show. In Korea, to stay relevant, you must continuously promote and release music there. However, since they were away for so long, they had lost a large chunk of their fanbase, making it extremely hard to regain popularity. After releasing "bling bling", which had a very hiphop sound, they recieved a lot of backlash since it didn't fit in with the 'korean style' of pop music (in my opinion though, it's a whole ass bop). In 2018, they released Love Scenario, which is now one of their most popular songs. This song was shocking, and different, not only for them, but for kpop in general. It strayed away from the typical pop sound most boy groups had. This song became so popular that children from all ages started singing it -- so popular that it became banned from school since they wouldn't stop singing it (school's also started using it to help kids learn korean abcs), which gave iKON the title of "kid's president". Love Scenario was a hit, being played everywhere, winning them multiple awards, such as "song of the year". However, in 2019, a scandal with the leader of iKON (BI aka Hanbin) broke out, headlining everywhere in Korea. He was being accused of buying drugs and wanting to used it in the past. It was so serious, that he became hated by so many people (since it was the top news in Korea for a really long time). If it were in America, it wouldnt be such a big deal. However, Koreans and very conservative, and are very anti-drugs as a whole, which is why it was a really big deal when the news came out. Until now, investigations are still being made. After the news broke out, BI wrote a letter on instagram stating that he was to leave the group (however, insider's say that YG forced him to leave). You probably don't understand how crushing this was to fans as BI wasn't only iKON's leader and main rapper, he was their main song writer, producer, and one of the choreriographers for the group (iKON is mostly self-produced which is why they are so different from other groups). He was also one of the reasons why they are why they are today. He wasn't an ordinary leader - he pushed them into working hard and helped them strive for something greater. They are still an amazing group. I hope you look into them as they aren't like other groups out there. They do most of the stuff themselves in terms of writing and producing. Their voices are unique, and they have their own sense of style. They also don't follow the typical pop trend you see these days. Their comeback is on Feb 6 so please check them out and support them. Most competitors were underground rappers since idol rappers were considered fake or untalented. However, Bobby changed that. This was totally a different vibe from their other songs maybe because it was composed by Ju-ne the vocalist thats singing here. This is the first song that he wrote that was released that why it suits his voice very well. iKON songs are all self produce songs, their former leader B.I is the one who produce and compose most of their songs. Bobby can also produce and compose songs, (he have a solo album u can also check it out) .
