  • How To Cook A Perfect Steak - In The Oven And Pan Seared On The Stove - Easy to Make Recipe
Here is a link to the meat thermometer I use: amzn.to/2cLLnvd
Hello, In this episode I will show you step-by-step how we cook the perfect pan seared steak without using a BBQ grill or special rubs.
Here are the ingredients I use for my pan seared steaks:
    1. Kosher salt
    2. Black pepper
    3. Butter
    4. Garlic
    5. Spray oil
Here is the step-by-step process I use to make my pan seared steaks just perfect:
    1. I buy the steaks 4 to 5 days before we are going to cook them.
    2. I seal the steaks well and let them sit in the refrigerator for 4 to 5 days
    3. I take the steaks out of the refrigerator about 30 minutes before I'm ready to cook them
    4. Preheat the oven to 275 degrees
    5. Use the kosher salt to cover the steaks on all four sides
5a. Add black pepper to the steaks
    6. Put foil in a backing dish and spry it with oil
    7. Place the steaks in the backing dish and put the meat thermometer in one of the steaks
    8. Bake until the internal temperature of the steaks reaches 125 degrees (about 35-40 minutes)
8a. While the steaks are cooking in the oven, I melt one stick of butter and mix with minced garlic
    9. Take the steaks out of the oven
    10. Spray large pan with oil and set the burner to "high" to sear the steaks
    11. When the oil starts to sizzle, carefully place the steaks in it
    12. Sear each one of the 4 sides for about 45 seconds each (for medium rare to medium)
13.After you take the steaks out of the pan, slice one of them to check if done to your taste.
    14. Spread butter and garlic on both sides of the stakes
As a side to our perfect oven baked pan seared steaks, we usually have steamed asparagus with sea salt, or steamed green beans with garlic, spry oil, salt and dill (dry or fresh depending on the season).
You can also use the extra butter and garlic mix to sprinkle on your veggie side of choice.
P.S. This is always more than enough for one meal, so we hardly ever have a third option on the plate. We prefer to have an extra serving of greens, than potato or rice or corn.
*This pan seared steak recipe can be used for pork chop as well
    Enjoy!

Sasha, you are the sweetest lady I think I’ve ever watched on CZcams!!! First of all I just have to say how much I truly absolutely LOVE your accent! I’m not trying to sound like a weirdo or anything I promise but it’s just the first thing that I noticed about you when I came across your videos! I don’t know exactly how to describe it but when I started watching your videos I very quickly noticed that you were a sweet woman and your accent as well as your voice make your videos very easy to watch and enjoy. I hope I’m not sounding like some crazy weird stalker girl lol, but like I said before I don’t really know how to describe exactly what I’m trying to say, but I do know even without personally knowing anything about you that I can say without a doubt that you are most definitely a very sweet woman that cares about everybody and you seem to be a natural at being motherly/nurturing to anyone and everyone!! I’m glad I stumbled across your videos I’ll definitely be subscribing! Thanks for your recipe! It’s amazing btw!!!!!

O-oh! I just saw your comment - you are so sweet! I really appreciate it! I'm sorry CZcams didn't send a notification for your reply earlier... As videos age, CZcams stops sending notifications for some reason, so every now and then I go and check if anyone posted any questions.
Thank you again! I am humbled and you put a huge smile on my face :) I hope you have a great weekend! Best, Sasha
P.S. I don't even know if CZcams will send you a notification about my reply... Well, in case you come back, it's here :)

I tried this with a 2" Tomahawk Ribeye. It took a bit longer to get the internal temperature to 127 degrees F, which was fine. I then used ghee for searing. Was almost smokeless with the ghee (due to high smoke point), which itself gave great flavoring. Then I melted the butter with garlic to use when serving. It was nothing short of AWESOMELY delicious! Will be doing all my steaks this way from now on! Thank you and oh, love your accent!

No oil spay. Use a little olive oil. Another tip is to use the garlic and butter mix with a little brown sugar and use it when pan searing the steak. Grab a spoon and drizzle the mixture on the steak while its searing and you can also move pan on heat and sides of pan to accomplish or complete sear. This will come out with a sweet and firm caramelized sear on that steak. Learned this in Vegas.

Thanks so much for this, the most important thing that helped me was to salt the steak so that you think it may be too much. When I saw the host adding the salt I was like "holy moly, you're not even gonna be able to eat it it will be so salty" but I tried it and the host was right and it helped me have one of the best tasting steaks I ever made. It was a bit overcooked but I can adjust for next time on my own but that salt/ seasoning hint was really helpful!

Need to use cast-iron skillet to get a really good crust, no need to cover. Also start with an oil with a high smoke point (avocado, grape seed, etc), then add the butter, a couple of sprigs of rosemary and garlic - basting all of those flavors for 2 min per side. Next level steaks!

This method is great and it's rather difficult to mess it up too. I know because I had a steak in the oven and forgot about it and left it in 25 mins longer than I normally would as recommended: and it still came out nice and pink juicy and delicious.

hi .. i wonder how long did you leave the steak in the oven for 275 degres? or you just leave it there until the steak reached 275 degres from the inside?

    • @AnOldSchoolHome
      @AnOldSchoolHome  Před 7 lety +18

Thank you Mohammad, I really appreciate that! I just bake it until the internal temperature is 128 degrees, not 275. The oven is set to 275 :) Usually, for a steak that is about 1 inch thick, it takes about 30-35 minutes to reach 128 degrees. But it is always best to use a thermometer. Thank you for watching Mohammad! Best, Sasha

im trying to cook a 1 inch porterhouse steak for my grandpa's Birthday and im trying this reverse sear method but everytime i search it, people tend to have different temp and method.
What is the perfect oven temp in °F? and how long?
then how long should i sear the steak on each sides if i want a medium well? I hope somebody helps me with this. THANKS!

    • @AnOldSchoolHome
      @AnOldSchoolHome  Před 7 lety +6

Hello, the oven is set to 275 F and I use the meat thermometer to
bake it in the oven until the internal temperature reaches 128 F (with
the stakes in this video it took about 30 minutes). Yo can buy a cheap
meat thermometer from your local grocery store and it will do the job.
Then I preheat the olive oil very well and sear it on each side for 1
minute. But, because my husband likes it medium-rare, after I sear one
of the sides, I make a small cut in the middle of his stake to check and
make sure I don't overcook it. And because I like it done a bit more, I
sear the edges for about 30 seconds each, or until the fat around gets
golden-brown. I hope this helps! Let me know if I missed something.
      Best, Sasha

I'm always amazed how harsh and judgemental commenters can be. Cooking is as much art as science, and thus can be used to manipulate the medium "food" in many different ways, with many differing outcomes. Why can't people learn something new and express thanks to the teacher? If you don't like it, it's just your personal preference. Learn to love art! Be open! Same thing, you just have to sear it in the pan for extra 30 seconds on each side. I would suggest start with extra 20 seconds on each side and if it’s not enough, do another 10 just so you don’t end up with a well done stake. Remember, you can always cook it more, but you can’t uncook it. Thank you for watching!

Yeah this is a terrible way to sear a steak based on what my dad has taught me, you sear first for sure hahah

This is called a reverse sear. It’s just another way to do it.

looks great! i hate meat when its too lean the fat gives a lovely flavour and texture but i dont have a temp gage and you didnt give a time for how long to put them in the oven so i dont know how long a time they are supposed to be in the oven like how many minutes?

Hello! For a standard store bought steak, it shouldn’t take more than 25 minutes. I hope this helps and thank you for watching!
