- Nothing beats a modified custom RC build. Here's a look at what the Jackhammer conversion from M2C Racing is capable of with proper power and upgrades. Shout out to my wife for joining me at the lake and my bash brothers Victor, Ian, Shelby, and John for another killer time!!!
Oh and in light of the new kraton Arrma just dropped..

I've said it millions of times before the 1/7 scale is the absolute perfect in-between platform between 1/8 and 1/5. The on the ground handling and fly ability is amazing. Killer rips at the lake and finishes it off with some wicked mega ramp sends with the guys. Absolutely killing it out there Bro. Another satisfying session.

@@djacobs9658yes. I've found a larger ESC helps maximize power output and runs cooler in general. I still shoot for around 150F max motor and 130's ESC ideally.
I've so far am a believer in arrma's typhon 6s blx, kraton 6s exb, mojave 6s exb. I would like to give the outcast 8s or losi dbxl e 2.0 a try next but those prices DEFINITELY makes you just look at you guys and and enjoy your videos. This hobby takes TIME to research MONEY to purchase and ( pardon the😁 french) BALLS to keep going. All for the soothing adrenalin that we get. ✌️ stay above ground

To be serious, it’s been a while since I’ve been able to find the CZcams channel from that basher out of Florida that’s a airplane mechanic. I think his name is Chris and he loved jumping Arrma rigs. I was watching him all the time in 2018 through 2020 but I never get notifications and just can’t remember the name of his channel. Do you know who I’m talking about?

Do you have any updates on the jackhammer? Its been 6 months so im curious and how is the diff doing does it hold up with the hardened gears?. Its so good!

Yeah looks great when you just want to full throttle rip. I have a kraton exb and geting a max6 and 4092 1480kv this will be a big step up from my max8 combo I had in it as I bought it second hand been thinking about xl on it for a wile. Maybe another kraton to make into a xl but that won’t happen so I may go xl on this one in Canada upgrade and part, trucks cost a lot more. So to sink like 600 or 700 cad dollars in to it is hard. Happy bashing rich😎💪
@@RcSpeedFreak-kk8wjthat's a great combo my friend. Ran that in my Kraton V3. My 1480 Hobbystar is still kicking all these years later. Think I replaced the rotor bearings once 🤔. Yeah I wouldn't buy a new Sledge to do the Jackhammr conversion. Way too costly. Better to buy used or grab just the bits you need to build around the kit. I absolutely love my Orange Darling Kraton XL 😍.
I Agree rich too many problems with the stock sledge I would pick up a roller from eBay if I was going to build a jackhammer and traxxas don’t Even have a warranty so no matter.
But now thinking about like you said so much would still need to be replaced like bulkheads diff gears hing pins that buying the shocks, diffs, arms from Jenny’s would be a lot cheaper.

Absolutely! She loves RC just like her daddy! I recently got full custody of her so that’s the most amazing thing in my life! Had to sell my RC collection but it was worth it. I would sell it 1 million times over. My little girls in my world. So for now we have fun watching videos. I’ll get more trucks to send with her at some time. Thanks for letting us live through you!! She’s my everything she’s so smart and so amazing! It’s crazy she actually is better than most 10-year-olds with a transmitter already lol things will get better financially and I’ll get more cars. Then I’m gonna start a CZcams channel with her driving. The luckiest dad alive to have her as my daughter!
Whats that little piece of foam looking thing that you have under the 3 motor wires that you have zip tied down onto the motor? I've been meaning to zip down my motor wires like that too but I don't know enough about what type of material would work for high temps like that.
I use 1/4" thick "Super Sliders" self adhesive felt from Walmart. They're 3.5" x 6" pads you can cut to whatever size. Also works great for padding bodies to protect near shock caps...etc.

Yo Rich quick question... do your connectors ever get warm? I seem to be having that issue a lil bit now and i dont know if its normal or a problem. its not really hot hot but it doesnt take to much time to heat up those connectors... wondering if that happened to you? thanks!
My connectors do get warm, but don't normally get hot. A cold solder job can cause a hot connector. Resistance increases at bad solder joints and can get hot enough to melt the joint. Most healthy connections will warm up soon after running voltage through them, that's normal.

Well... Traxxas completely exaggerated the durability of the stock Sledge 😂. The A arms the C blocks are fantastic I'll admit. The Sledge requires more upgrading to make solid due to their awful motor mount design. Also has a soft diff case in the rear. Both trucks can be made rock solid. If I had to pick, I'd go Kraton 100%. The Jackhammr is completely different though being an inch longer than the "Kraton XL" or new Big Rock wheelbase.

Rich, how are you? Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! I talk to u awhile back about my project arrma outcast exb roller, 560kv HW motor and max4 esc. Well I got it all fitted. Having to work on fitting drive shafts since I had to move the center diff back. Using losi dbxle center drive shafts. Just wanted to know do I need to shim my front and rear diffs for I heard you don't. I want to hear it from you. Thank for your time. I'll send pics of my project if u want to see the finished product. It's a BEAST!😅
Happy Thanksgiving Barry 🤗. I don't shim my front and rear 8s diffs. Just use the stock bearing shim on the crown gear side bearing. Some guys add a shim behind the input gears, but I've never felt it was necessary. Not sure if you had heard M2C Racing offers a revised steering rack that accommodates the 56118 motor. I'm not using the 56118. I'm using the 560kv 70125 motor by HW. The biggest motor HW put out and combined with the max 4.
M2c makes nothing to accommodate that motor for the outcast exb roller. I talked to him and he has put me off several times. First he said he would look into it and next thing I know he says he not going to look into it like he said he would because he now is working on stuff for the team corally kagama and I was talking to him before that car came out. Anyway, thank u for your advice. Imma use it. That is that I also don't feel it necessary to shim the diffs. Oh and the stock steering rack is fine...barely😅

I use mostly budget Tactic TTX300 controller and receivers. Simple with good ergonomics, response, and great range. 🍻

Oneeeeeeeeeeeeeee more question here... So on my xmaxx ive been having some trouble where it keeps blowing up input gears... I was wondering if that has happened to you on yours? Im thinking its because of the xtra power with the hobbywing 1100kv setup. I trust you more than most hobby shops haha, so any suggestions?
Could be a cracked bulkhead or diff cover allowing the gears to lose alignment 🤔. Granted the stock gears are kinda junk. Make sure you're using a quality marine grease. I recommend NANO Pro MT. Aluminum gear covers such as Hot Racing won't flex or crack like the stockers. You can also add a bearing shim on the crown gear side bearing if you think there's too much play. Last resort would be upgrading to Vitavon hardened steel spiral cut gears.

@@atticusbeachcruise8657 I'm running Vitavon spur and pinion mod 1.5 gears (25/30). 25/35 is probably less nuts with better summer time temps. I have Vitavon input/ring gears I'm installing in my XRT. Same fitment for the XMaxx.

How many stock parts left in the jackhammer???
Not a lot to be honest. The diffs, arms, hubs, stock plastic center braces, front bulkhead, and front camber links. Unless you already have a Sledge, it's better to build around the kit and pick up the other bits off eBay or Jenny's RC. My stock Sledge chassis is bent to all hell 😂

I probably have at least 3-4 sets of LP's and even more MT's. Love both dearly 😍. Running the MT's on the Jackhammr and on Orange Darling at the moment. The Backflips are definitely my favorite all around bash tires 🚀🚀

What brand are you using for your gears?
Running a stock 46T Traxxas spur with a 23T Robinson Racing #1223 extra hard pinion. Running Vitavon ring and input gears.

@@ronniejones1721the stock spur has held up only because the M2C motor mount locks the gears in properly. Vitavon is 100% better 🤙. The Hobbywing 4985 1650kv will take a 22-23 pinion no problem.

@@ronniejones1721I would still recommend between 21-23T depending on wheel size. 22 or 23 works great with 6s size Backflips. 13/50 is under geared with the 1650. The motor will wind up too much (rpm's) and get hot easily.
