ranking every yukika song

yukika is one of my absolute favourite kpop soloists. i’ve been a fan since her solo debut in 2019 and she’s consistently impressed with her music style and her dedication to the city pop sound. her soul lady album is consistently in my rotation and is one of my favourite kpop albums ever. she’s also one of the only kpop artists who has intro and outro songs that i regularly listen to lol. i won’t lie, i’m pretty gutted that she’s retiring from the industry but she’s already contributed to so many of my favourite songs so i wish her the absolute best!
for a brief history of yukika’s career, please read below:
before her career in korea, yukika started working at the young age of 12 as a teen model for the magazine ‘nicola’, and in 2007 joined the short-lived duo ‘choco & mimi’. prior to her move to korea, she also worked as a voice actress until 2012.
after moving to the country in 2015, yukika made her korean debuted in 2016 as part of the project group real girls project under interactive media mix. the group was formed as part of the show ‘the [e-mail]’, a survival show to test and train girls to form a 10-member group. real girls project debuted with the song ‘dream’ in august 2016 and were active until 2017. during this period, yukika appeared on the survival show 'mixnine', ranking 34th.
after r.g.p, yukika went on to debut as a soloist under estimate entertainment with the song ‘neon’. her debut had a distinct 1980s aesthetic and city-pop sound. yukika would continue to release music under estimate until late 2020, when she moved to ubuntu entertainment to continue her promotions.
in april 2022, yukika announced that she would be getting married, and her fiancé was revealed to be former map6 member minhyuk in july. the couple married in march 2023.
in december 2023, yukika announced that she would be retiring from the music industry and her mini album ‘time-lapse’ would be her final release. then, in january 2024, she made the exciting announcement that she is pregnant and expecting her first child in the spring.
