S Shivaram is a successful earthworm farmer who has been doing this for the past 3 years. He was born in Mallaiyanadoddy, Anno Putta village, in the Mandya district. After his education, Shivaram started his career as a farmer; he did traditional farming. But he knows that there will be no good life with traditional farming techniques. So he researched a lot and learned a bit about silk and milk farming. He started silk, milk and vermicompost at a time, but vermicompost only brought life to him.
Shivaram started vermicomposting with 150 worms, and today he is farming millions of worms. 50 kg per month. Those who used to sell manure are selling 50 tons of waste each. That means he has sold 600 tons of manure in 1 year and earned crores of rupees. Agriculture field, the most profitable side crop is earthworm manure. Every farmer can also do this business. They can collect their waste sticks and make monthly income using hemp and earthworms. Worms can also be sold for Rs. 400 per kg. Similarly, one ton of fertilizer costs between 10 to 15 thousand. That means they produce 600 tons. No matter how much their income is. Vermicomposting is the best business that does not require much work.
