My Dad died when I was 16. I turned away from God for a couple years, but true believers brought me back to a stronger belief than I'd ever had before. I rely on God everyday. I am an old woman now. I'm so grateful that humble believers made a difference in my life. I've learned to live one day at a time. Be patient with yourself. You will always miss your Dad, but he wouldn't want you to be down. He wants you to have peace. ❤

When my grandma was sick, I sent her Shane and Shane's version of No Longer Slaves. This Sunday will be the second anniversary of her death and I'm listening to Shane and Shane again while working on a painting of her. God's goodness is something that never changes, in good and bad, in mourning and in joy. What a beautiful future we have awaiting us in Jesus.

Oh God, awaken us again to the glory of this Christ!!! these lyrics came out of a "knowing", that unfortunately for the most part, the modern church has not experienced! "The Shanes" have found the alabaster box that the moment of its penning was kept in , and have done a magnificent service to the Lord, by once again pouring its wonderful fragrance back upon His nailed pierced feet as an offering of worship! Disagree. Hymns are wonderful and hugely enriched with a prosaic form. They are all of the same structure for this reason, and there are modern hymns of this form with a contemporary richness e.g. 100 billion X, or 10,000 reasons. There are a greater abundance of songs these days than what were in hymn books previously due to the multitude of styles. Some of these won't be fitting but my congregation has been blessed by a combination of the hymnal with the very personal contemporary songs.
This version of Come Thou Fount shows that with the hymnal at the beginning and the epic contemporary end.

I didn’t grow up listening to hymns, but I praise God for bands like Shane and Shane that care about people like myself who are running dry in worship services in America.

Don't know who wrote the lyrics and melody to this beautiful song but he/she had to be filled with the Holy Spirit when they did it. I sing this wonderful hymn every night before I go to bed. It never gets old. Love this beautiful rendition. Sometimes I think it should be the Christian National Anthem.

Testimony about the "444 Comments": 1st, all praises to our heavenly father, Yehovah God, & thanks to our Lord & savior, Y'shua/Jesus. Thank you also to God & Jesus for the Holy Spirit sent in Jesus's name. Anyways, I was scrolling thru different Hymns on CZcams to find 1 to play in headphones while working at home. Music I choose to listen to is almost all Christian music, & I hadn't heard music in some time. I had just finished listening thru 2 different hymns before this & I liked both. I tried a 3rd but didn't like the tune, so I only listened to it a little while. When I saw the title to this one, I wasn't sure I was familiar w/ the song. I tried it. Great song! Only *After* choosing a song from all the ones loaded up (on the right side of the screen) can a person then see the number of comments (you can see the number of views but not number of comments). That was the furthest thing from my mind anyways. When I chose this song as my *4th* song & started listening, then I could see there are "444 Comments." Also, today has been the 1st day of my 3 - 4 day fast. I started this fast because God had been bringing into my environment at home the numbers 443 & 444 over & over on these past couple of days. That's God's way with me when he's leading me to fast. Don't get me wrong: I'm not into "numerology" & that's not what this is. But God can certainly bring us a message in various ways of his own choosing. (Some numbers do have a significance within Christianity, too.)
We should all have our own personal relationship with God & Jesus. I do. Our heavenly father & our Lord know each one of us as individuals & can deal with us on an individual basis, too. Of course, do not forsake the fellowship of believers if you're able to have a Christian community or prayer partnership. Anyways, common sense says that 444 highlights the number 3 because it has 3 of the same thing, & of course it highlights the number 4, also. 443 also highlights the numbers 3 & 4. In case anyone's wondering, I stay hydrated when I fast. Also, it's not to my credit that I can fast without solid food for a number of days. It's an answer to prayer: I praise & thank God in the name of Jesus, & then I pray to God & Jesus (or to God in the name of Jesus) for God to give me his grace to be able to fast, & then he makes it easy. HalleluYah! (With me, it's not anything at all about losing weight, although fasting can have health benefits and is thought to be anti-cancer.) I encourage my brothers & sisters in Christ to sometimes not just pray but to sometimes fast & pray. Jesus himself did. (Be careful if you're new to fasting or have any medical condition. Consult a doctor if you have a medical condition. But if it turns out to be a doctor who doesn't understand or respect your desire to fast, you can make it clear to the doctor that you're serious about trying at least some level of fasting. If a doctor still doesn't seem helpful, then hopefully you could find another doctor to consult if you have to. Not that I've heard of anyone having a problem w/ consulting w/ a doctor about fasting, but you never know. Anyways, doctors can be helpful of course, but they're human, so always remember that Jesus is the Lord of Healing & is also The Great Physician. Focus on Jesus in your life & draw close to him always.)

Jaden Miller no, true worship is whatever you do that makes you worship God. Personally, I’ll never understand why Christians are so nit picky about the details. Christians can’t just allow someone to do something differently from them, because it has to be wrong if that’s not the way they do it. I simply don’t have a lot of patience for people that gatekeep Christianity.
“You can do it songs” are just as worshipful if they’re centered around God bringing them through their troubles. There are plenty of “you can do it” hymns, too. It Is Well With My Soul, Pass Me Not, O Gentle Savior, God Will Make A Way, Leaning On The Everlasting Arms, and many, many more, are all “you can do it” songs.
So are they not worship? Or do they get a free pass because they’re hymns?
Jaden Miller your response either seems to come from a misunderstanding of what I was originally arguing against, or a misunderstanding of what your previous comment said. “You can do it” songs and worship songs are not mutually exclusive. The original comment I replied to criticized “you can do it” Christian songs and stated that they aren’t worship, and that they’re just like secular music. That argument is crap and I called it out.
Also, it is well literally talks about troubles and trials and how to find peace throughout them. In other words, “you can do it.”
