ASMR: A Map of Vienna from 1850 (soft spoken, map tracing)

- I feel like we haven't looked at Vienna in way too long! These historical maps are from about 1850, so before the city grew into its current shape. Many of the residential buildings that seem typically Viennese today are from the turn of the century, so while the streets on these maps might overlap with our modern city, their look and feel was probably closer to the old suburbs.
As always, this is soft spoken, educational ASMR with an Austrian accent intended to help you relax and sleep better, with map tracing as main trigger.
The book is "Die Pläne der k.k. Haupt- und Residenzstadt Wien" by Carl Vasquez, published by Walter Öhlinger.

Oh man, I subbed your channel within the first two minutes. SO relaxing.
Wohoo!!
Good to hear your acquired deep insight into the history and development of Vienna. How the modern day has blended with it. Seemed like a magical city when I first visited and it holds special appeal for that reason. The numerous gardens, the music, artworks, I guess it is mostly Baroque architecture and design that seems to create a very unique atmosphere. Love to explore it again.
Haha true, I've probably learned more about Vienna since I started this channel than in the 10+ years of living here before. It's really made me appreciate it a lot more.
this is beautiful and i love your nail polish. thank you so much for sharing.
Thank you!! I really liked making this one, so I'm happy to hear you enjoyed it :)
The original Roman military camp known as Vindobona; the genesis of Vienna.
Love the mix of history and ASMR!
Hey Ryan, thank you!
I really needed this tonight. Thank you ❤️
Hope it helped and you're feeling better! 🧡
Schon wieder so ein tolles Video! Die Karten in dem Buch sind ja richtig schön.
Die sind echt ein Traum! Und das ganze wirkt gar nicht so lang her - da merkt man erst, wie jung viele der Gebäude eigentlich doch sind.
As always your videos are amazing and informative. It is very interesting to hear about the changes in the city I would love to visit it someday.
Thank you 🧡 I hope you can! At this point you wouldn't even need a guide anymore haha
Your past videos have inspired many deep Wikipedia dives on Viennese history, and so this video was a real treat! Thank you!
Awesome, I love to hear that! 💖
Your Vienna videos are some of my favorites! It is clear how much you love your city!! (And for good reason!)
I am beyond excited 😀 Vienna is going to be one of the stops on my river cruise next year. I feel like I know it already thanks to my ASMR tour guide! We will also get the opportunity to go to Salzburg. I wonder if I posted our tour itinerary, perhaps Melange might work her way through all the stops for me 😂😂
Ooh that sounds lovely! Are you doing a tour down the Danube? Because that does sound like it could be a great video... If you want, you can send me an email with the itinerary and I'll have a look at it :) And yes, you'll definitely know your way around Vienna 😅
omg how cool, I did not know I needed historical ASMR
I'm glad you liked it! Thanks, Marius.
I love your approach to ASMR so natural & informative & you seem so knowledgeable & interested in the maps & your content, I assumed you were a teacher but note you’re not. Your voice & accent are also beautiful. Thank you
That means a lot, thank you! I really enjoy making these vdeos and learning about these different topics and I'm very happy that comes across 💜
I love this so much
Thank you, Vanessa! 🥰🥰🤗
Ich liebe deine Videos ❤
Ma danke 🥰🥰🥰
What a beautiful map book! Where do you find these treasures?
Yesss I've been very lucky with my finds recently! I'm a little tempted to try an antique book store next, they might have even better things... 💸💸💸
Hi, liebe deine Videos! 🫶🏼
Verrätst du mir welches Buch das ist und vielleicht sogar wo du’s gekauft hast? 😇
Hallo lieber Florian, vielen Dank! Das Buch heißt "Die Pläne der k.k. Haupt- und Residenzstadt Wien" von Carl Vasquez, in der Ausgabe von Walter Öhlinger.
I love to buy secondhand books. 📚
Yesss it always feels like a bit of a treasure hunt.
I’m just over here planning a trip to Vienna based on 18th century maps as narrated by Melange 😂. No really. I kind of am. 💗
That is an excellent plan, tho! If you do visit, the 2nd district with the area around Karmelitermarkt is a lovely place to see, and so is the Freihausviertel in the 4th.
