    Although it is interesting to see it disassembled, it would've been useful to show a bit more of usage and the menus and such before doing so - see whether there are any calibration options, whether you can switch the video feed off to see the thermal better etc.
    From what you did show, the frame rate of the thermal image seems horrible, looks about 2fps and lags way behind the video. I did a DIY project with an MLX90640 (£30) and an ESP32 (£10), sending the data over WiFi to another ESP32 to process and display on an RGB LED net, and across that whole inefficient system I managed about 10fps. The MLX90640 is 32x24 = 768 pixels, so slightly less than the "1024 measuring points" claimed for this, but not much - resolution looks about the same. Of course they are processing video from the other camera as well, but they're obviously getting a much better frame rate and less lag from that so it's not the cause of the thermal lagging behind.

      nope, its a low res toy sensor by todays standards, but its also a very good guide for heat in things you dont want heat in, like say electrical wiring / fuse boards

    Good teardown. That said, if you could make that clear in the title so those of us wanting to know whether its worth buying or not can move on to videos based on performance rather than dissection I'd appreciate it. Cheers.

    Despite the haters's comments, the camera is sufficient for indicative temperature measurements. The errors are within +/- 3-5 degrees Celsius, about as much as is written in the specifications. It has autodetection of hot/cold spots and does its job honorably. Those who want better precision and quality should get Flir.

    When I bought it, I expected to see a camera equipped with 240x320 thermal imaging sensor. Instead, it was a regular camera image, with a very poor resolution, very poor thermal sensitivity, huge lag superimposed thermal image. Very disappointed, so I returned camera back to the store. Anyone who knows how a thermal camera looks like wouldn't be happy with this.
    Also, after watching this teardown, I'm convinced that this device is a China stile one. Why on earth would put someone a SD Card in it, but not making it accessible from outside?

      there is no 240x320 thermal sensor inside... and there is no mention about this sensor in description of the product. 240x320 is resolution of LCD screen :D

      It’s €100, what were you expecting?! I mean pretty much all the specs are right on the box! The closet competition is more than double and it plugs into an iPhone that would become obsolete in 4 years. The next handheld device is 3-4 times the amount. I bought one and it pretty much fits the budget / expectations.

      realy? 240*320 sensor in 80 euro device??? 32*24 (NOT 320*240) sensor ONLY cost half of it...

      @klaus-udokloppstedt6257 Před 5 dny

      you didn't really expect a 320x240 pixel thermal sensor in a camera that cheap, are you?
      I bought one last week - 80€ @ local store Lidl Germany. and it lives up to my expectations. I like, that you can gradually vari the thermal overlay from 100% heat map to 100% regular camera image. my use case is for hobbyist check on vintage electronic repairs (8bit computers and audio devices). so, the low frame rate of the thermal sensor is not a problem for me, I don't regret the purchase.
