Hi Carinne! Hokkaido's a great choice! :D Tohoku is south of Hokkaido and often skipped over because a lot of people go straight from Tokyo to Hokkaido! If you find the chance to visit Japan, I really recommend the JR pass and you can stop by Tohoku on your way to Hokkaido from Tokyo, if that's the route you're taking :D Have fun on your travels!

Has anyone done visited? I want to do this trip via bullet train, is it possible? I think I'll have to cut out Miyagi and Yamagata region since the bullet train goes from Tokyo > Aomori. I'm looking for suggestions, please!
Will I need to rent a car to visit Aomori, Iwate, and Akita for a 3-4 day trip?

How much is the total average expenses there. The food, transport and accommodation. Not include the flight ticket
TOHOKU IS AFFORDABLE! It really depends on the experiences you seek :D Many sights are free, too. If you love nature, I recommend visiting in autumn/spring! Accommodation-wise, your choice of staying at an onsen ryokan, hotel or hostel would make a ¥ difference. I recommend traditional onsen ryokans! The great thing about Japan is that you can easily get around with the JR pass. Those passes have different prices, depending on the type/region! :D All the best and I hope you would come check out Tohoku one day!
