- Building an electric skateboard is something my brother and i have always wanted to do, since we were able to use ryobi batteries, we were able to do this for only $400! (not including the motor we ended up taking out)

Since you have extra cash it wont hurt to buy 2 more extra drill.
Put a 2.5mm Drill on one and a Screw driver on the other one so that you dont have to break stuff when disassembling.
Even a 2x2 Inch piece of wood is usefull on many DIY builds.

The Build process is sick and I love watching these videos. I just want to say that you could buy an electric skate board for less than the $400. But having your own built one is much cooler.

a $400 electric skateboard will not go as fast or will a range of maybe 5 miles
A board that cheap from a manufacturer probably wouldn't go much faster than 15mph.
@@noka7776it’s true that it won’t go as fast but you can get way more than 5miles of range from a $400 board. I’d even bet you could even get a board with over 500 watt motors and then getting a high top speed is all about wheel size and gearing. That being said, for less than $1000, you can get a board that out performs theirs out of the box.

On project videos I always wish for more video of the final product. Like, I just click the video to see a homemade skateboard, and I see 10 minutes of building it and 30 seconds of riding it.

Not that it was intentional, but the way you built this with a much bigger wheel in the back prevents speed wobbles by a significant amount. Since it doesn’t turn in the back it’s super stable. Someone needs to make this a production board. I NEED it.

What would be cool is if u kept the 5000w motor on the skate board and add ed a few more wheels on the back, added a seat, ad a steering system kinda like how a scooter works. Other wise great vid ❤

If the acceleration is too fast all you gotta do is get a bigger front sprocket and smaller rear, it’ll go slower accelerating and faster tops
