My 15 year old was knocked to the ground by my 7 month old puppy Dalmatian and she was pulling her hair out and trying to drag her. She couldn’t get her off, my 10 year older tried to help, both of them couldn’t do much. They punched her, she cried, but wouldn’t stop. Imagine a child smaller that a 15 year old.
But the way, the dog is all grown up and is the sweetest dog in the world. She just wanted to play hard when she was a puppy 🐶.

Pets aren’t human and shouldn’t be treated as such, but we are so egotistical to think that families and friends have to be the same species (you still need human family and friends). Dogs and cats see us as families and yes they recognize we are a different species. I told my niece you don't pull or hurt the dog. Their family dog bites one of them and this was just like this family. A dog that was around before the children and it was around 5 years after but she was lucky not to do a lot of damage to her face. But dogs are dogs. You should be teaching your children how to act around dogs. If you prevoke a dog by hitting it or pulling it's hair or tail. It will bite you. And then most owners immediately put the dog down. Yet the dog did nothing wrong. In my eyes. The dog was hurt and reacted. So children need to be told how to act around all animals. Especially from young ages and growing up.

Cut them some slack, they are working through the 7 steps of grief. They could very well still be in denial and shock. I saw my mother lose her 17 year daughter and I saw the same stricken horror in this mother's eyes. Right now the father looks like my Dad just trying to care for his wife so he doesn't lose her too. He had his own coping strategies. but watching him drink so heavily was tough. My brother and I did an informal "intervention" and he quit. I love him so much for that may he rest in peace with Jesus.
My mother hung on to the pain and anger stage and repeatedly told me she didn't want to surrender. So it took an acute nervous breakdown at the 25 year mark to bring her back whole. My parents even went back to church again and my mother even started crying in movies whereas before she just look mildly pissed off at sad scenes. At that point I finally got my mother back.
These parents seem to be holding on to shock and denial for dear life and not ready for the anger and horrible bitterness that is to come. I had a psychiatrist tell me that there are studies that prove the only way to heal from such a loss is to have another baby. It sounds cold but it works and most parents do it especially if the child was an infant. My mother even wanted another baby for a while. I wish she had done it. She wouldn't have lost so many years and I would have another sibling to love.

Facts. Especially a Husky. Huskies are EXTREMELY Pack driven and known for loyalty to their family and friendliness/tolerance with children. There are ALWAYS outliers to every breed, and I do not EVER condone leaving an animal with a small child. I have a Husky myself as well as a Service Dog that underwent THOUSANDS of hours of training and I STILL don't leave them alone with my children. My son is 4, my daughter is 8, though I believe neither of them would ever intentionally hurt my children, I still am NOT betting my children's LIFE on that belief because they are animals and every animal has their breaking point and triggers. As loyal and loving as they can be Huskies are also stubborn and known for challenging the pack heirarchy (ie: seeing what they can get away with before they are corrected by the one in charge meaning you) so they NEED to be trained and have proper stimulation. SO many people don't do that with other "beginner" breeds let alone a high maintenance breed like a Husky.

It’s called PREDATORY DRIFT not jealousy.
Dogs with HIGH PREY DRIVE can see babies/toddlers/kids as SMALL PREY or other dogs due to how small they are.. the noises they make(high pitched sounds) and how erratic they are in their movement.
Any dog trainer worth their salt will explain this concept to you.
It had nothing to due with human emotion like jealousy but it’s predatory drift and also competition for resources(food) which manifests as eliminating the threat.
But with high prey drive dogs it’s usually predatory drift.
