Aesthetically pleasing but a lot change for change sake. I loved watchOS 9. This feels like more work to do the same tasks. Nothing is actually easier or quicker to do.
Yeah i got fed up and bought a casio 😂
my battery has taken a toll too
I like having a nice watch face then scroll down to see what I want. Not having a smashed info watch face.
@@premiumroach495I’ve noticed that as well, I’d estimate it’s draining about 10-15% more than usual. Before WatchOS 10 (On Apple Watch Series 8) I could charge my watch to 100% by 9pm and wake up a 5am with 89-91% battery left and be left usually between 40-50% by 4pm. Now it’s about 80% that goes down to 40% by noon and 20-30% by 4pm. For reference my watch battery health is 94%.
I agree. How do I log that my mood is displeasure over these changes, which make things more difficult?
So far I'm super underwhelmed by the update to WatchOS 10. The biggest annoyances for me were the change of the control panel from swipe up to the side button, and that the Ultra's dark mode is automatically turned on when it's darker. I miss WatchOS9.
WtF they have removed swipe to switch between watchfaces, was so easy and convenient. Give it us back!!!
Yup. I don’t like that change either.
@@zollotechme too, but a force press on the screen activates this action now. I suppose it stops faces changing by accident that happen to me on my Ultra for some reason occasionally.
I hate it too! I work in the medical field, and I often have to time injections for 30 seconds. I had a watch face just to show the seconds so I can easily tell the doctor when the time is up. But I don’t want that watch face for the rest of the day. It was so easy before to switch between the different faces. Now it takes extra time and steps to do the same thing. And the kicker is that they didn’t replace that gesture with anything. So we actually lose a feature without gaining anything at all. Dumb move Apple!
@@AquarianStarryou’re the 2nd comment from this video to save me 😅
@@christyrattay5213wow, yeah apple needs to hear more from people in the medical field.. I would never have thought of that issue.. and in your field that could mean life or death for someone .. hope enough people report stuff like that
Here before title changes from hat to whats
Hate the changes to the UI
I shouldn't have upgraded, the remapping of the buttons is shocking! I always prefer to use the side button for opening the app menu and closing of apps.
I regret updating mine to WatchOS 10.
Press hold and drag was a thing for years both in Notification Center AND for control center which I used all the time. Really miss that swipe to control center
I was waiting for this video! Love this watchOS updates! Absolutely perfect! Thank you for putting in all this work! Love this so so much!
Like the previous OS versions more as they focused on keeping the backgrounds black. This was to hide the bezels making them blend into the background. The new changes with lighter backgrounds are really obvious in the health ring app and the stock app. Now all I see is bezels. Bring back IOS 9 please!!
Thanks for the great videos. I’ve updated my ultra and my battery is dying so quickly. Have you had any issues?
Excellent video! Can you please share where you got the metal band for your watch? Thank you in advance!
Thanks again Aaron, for the informative video. I’ve been using and messing around with the new version since last night on my Ultra, and been loving it, (especially the new Snoopy face). Give it a try, if you need a smile throughout the day! Looking forward to using the new Hiking workout too.
Battery charging default set to 80%. Had to change to 100% to last all day. All your videos are great.
Thank you for covering the watch in detail 👌🏻
However, what a disappointment this update is. Probably my most used functions were deleted.
Changing the watch faces needs a long press instead of swipe and thats super annoying.
Furthermore i‘ve used the sidebutton for favorite apps, which now forces me to use stacks with almost no third party app, hope that comes back.
It‘s an absolute nonsense having two ways to get in stacks, with swiping up or even use the digital crown, instead of using it for more different purpose.
No new watch for me this year then. Still on my SE 1 with long battery life at least.
Wait they deleted the app shortcuts feature? I use that alot especially during workout. Oh no
May I ask what did you do for your battery to last long? Or did the new update help? I’m also on SE 1 and my battery is really bad, barely lasts a day, so I’m worried about updating…
@@prettylittleravenna i‘ve always had a good battery life even if the capacity shows 86% now.
On watch os 9 i started the day with 100% after charging and before i go to sleep it was around 70%, put in on charge to 100% again before sleep and wake up with 85%.
I guess what helped a lot is turning off background updates (hope that‘s the right wording since i use it in german). And i really did not notice anything not working fine.
I managed also on many notifications, like no push for facebook and similar apps, as well as mail, since when i have time i‘ll just check by myself.
I have the series 6, and if Apple doesn’t revert the UI in watchOS 11 this will be my last Apple Watch. My current watch is my first.
@@imperfectxennial3008I have the 6 as well.
I get 2 full days out of my battery usually, is that alot? Seems so
Thanks for the detailed coverage. Blessings on your day.
One of the best CZcams videos I’ve seen. Great job and thank you.
Hi,
Thanks Aaron for this so deep journey into new watchOS. Very useful 🎉
As I’m located in Europe, no trails map here….hopefully will come soon!
thanks for the quick update, keep it up.
Loving these hat updates
Now you have to press and swipe to change the watch faces…i do not like that.. was easier to just swipe… 😮
Hi Aaron. Was that a dream or I was offered the possibility to have a green night mode after the update. Can’t find where to make the change. Thanks again for great videos.
Thanks for the update, always very helpful 👍. I am surprised that Apple did not include a short cut in the Control Centre to toggle “Always On”… on and off easily, unless I’ve missed something. Anyway, keep the updates coming.
Anyone noticed the weather complications are completely broken?
Yes!
@@rooorooo02200220 think I’ve cracked it…reset the location settings on your iPhone. My watch has been fine all day since 👍🏻
Can you show how to close open apps now and how to control the volume when listening to a podcast
I’m using the Nike Globe plus I like digital better than analog. I like the new features in fitness + as well. Thanks again for all the information you provide.
I love the new Modular Ultra watch face! It looks good on the first generation Ultra watch.
I'm thinking about getting the apple watch ultra 2 and you have a very nice looking watchband, what is it? if you don't mind me asking.
Opps nevermind I see it in the description
Sevgili zolo Apple Watch ultramı Apple Watch 9 mu tavsiye edersin
I miss the Dock with my few but used very often (favorites) apps
been rockin series 4 from the day it was released.. apple didnt skip on providing all possible features. thanks aaron.
A massive setback for me. Removing swiping between faces, removing the favorites dock (or replacing it with a much worse one), app redesign requiring a lot of tapping and scrolling (the timer app is much worse, the stopwatch app is only light mode (?), the weather app is still a mess of tapping and scrolling), widgets only accessible from the watch face. Feels like all of the ways I had to quickly interact with my watch have been hampered. It's even slower to pick complications now - instead of a long list of complications they're sorted by apps, so it's extra taps.
Really dislike some of the design language changes for the watch too. Music/Now Playing, for example - why are the buttons smaller than before? Why is there a way to make the artwork full screen? Seem antithetical to how the watch is meant to work: quick actions, put away. I'm never staring at the artwork on my watch, nor do I want to be.
Feels like this update was one meant to prop up/re-highlight existing features for people that didn't know about them, and that came at the removal of features for power users. A real bummer. Snoopy is great though!
I agree, this is 2 steps back with the potential of a step forward with some changes. Why remove swiping between faces and replace it with nothing? Who greenlights crap UI like this? It seems they don’t understand the do a thing and put away appeal of a Apple Watch. Now people will be sitting crouched over their Apple Watches scrolling to get a simple thing done.
Couldn’t agree with you more. A real setback for the UI. Lots of unintuitive clicking needed.
@@UnCannyValley67hopefully will be patched in the next update if enough people complain
I totally agree.
I’m sad about swiping faces. I had faces set up with different complications which was a real shortcut and timesaver to getting information
Hi Aaron can you check regarding the Xr ios 17 battery drain . The battery is very worse for XR after the update. Can you confirm whether your facing the issues or someone in the community can confirm the same
I love it! I’m not the greatest with tech but I love how the watch looks. At first I was okay with my Apple Watch SE but now I might need to get a new one especially with these updated.
I already watched multiple videos on watch OS 10, but Zollo is the homie, so I had to give him the like and the view
For me, double-pressing the crown to get to recently opened apps is very touchy and more difficult to use. But I do like the new smart stacks.
When in a workout, it's odd that they removed water lock from the left-swipe options menu. There's now just an empty space in the grid, where water-lock used to be.
Probably that’s because, now we get to pull the control Center using the side button and that always has the water repel button and more..
Likewise. It is too uncomfortable for me as well.
I think I may like the new smart stacks, but so far (I haven't spent much time on it yet) I haven't gotten a handle on how to configure it. I'm hoping that smart stacks may replace some of the functionality that was taken away by not allowing you to set your App Dock to 'Favorites' instead of 'Recent'. From what I *hear* it seems like it should, but as I said, I have no idea how to really use it properly yet.
Great video, there is one feature that is confusing and that is the Activity. After my fast walk for 50 minutes as I normally do it's showing only 12 min/50. Steps and calories are accurate. Why? Thanks.
Got an Apple Watch Series 8 in January and it's such a huge difference compared to WatchOS 9. Really love the update. And also always handy to watch your video to know every change. Keep it up!
About the same time I bought my Series 8, it's been solid even with the roughhousing it gets at work (I have a screen protector and Otterbox case to prevent damage as much as possible.) Currently downloading OS 10 📶
Where did you get your watch band?? That’s awesome 0:50
Did you notice the new layout on the watch when you turn off the alarm on the watch. It’s a really nice redesign
Great video and thanks for the info
What app is the sun rise/sun set in the watch? Thank you.
I almost never use the control center but I'm always using the dock to get to my favorite apps. How will I get to my dock using WatchOS 10?
Hi Aaron great video I love the new update 😊
thank you. great video
I miss being able to swipe between watch faces easily as I could use different complications with each one. Now I have to long press wait switch and choose each time. Not really likening the side button for control centre either. Why the change, makes no sense.
I love the updates I have the SE and I’m finding the new updates very intuitive, I’m a 62 year old woman that loves techie stuff. Where can I find the Snoopy watch face? 🙂🐈⬛🐈🌈💖
I just updated to WatchOS 10 and am already irritated by 2 bits of functionality that I found useful before. Here's one of them: The Timer App. They stripped away some functionality that I used to find extremely useful. That is, the ability to save one of your 'Recents' to be a 'Favorites'. That way you could create a persistent and custom timer. No more; a really stupid decision on Apple's part. The Timer App also has been slightly changed, some aesthetic changes and layout changes. It just seems different; can't really figure out what positives the design changes bring to the table other than being change for the sake of change. But, the stripping out of the functionality that I just mentioned earlier is the worst aspect of it. I'll touch on the 2nd bit of functionality stripped away here as well: The new dock. You can't set it to 'Favorites' anymore. It defaults to 'Recent' and you get no option to change it to 'Favorites'.
It's a big step back. I think it qualifies as hostile design.
I haven’t updated yet and it is a terrible move by Apple, not to have favorites I guess I really have no choice but to update. 🤷♂️
@@joeyappleseed3158 I mentioned 2 places where they got rid of the option of 'Favorites-- 1) For the app dock and 2) For creating custom timers. I'm not sure which one you are responding about. A bit of good news...a workaround, regarding the Timers app. It seems Apple changed the designed so when you create a timer, it gets put in the 'Recents' area *AND* also gets populated along with the standard ones as well. It get's sorted by the length of time. Ok, that does restore some of the functionality; I see what Apple was going for....a more 'global' treatment of user created timers. However, I still like the old way because when you get the opportunity put the timer in a 'Favorites' group, it's easier to see and access. 'Favorites' is a separate group and the first one you see actually, so the timers in 'Favorites' were more prominently displayed. I found that much more convenient. But at least there's a way to get some of the functionality back based on Apple's re-design. Still haven't found a workaround for the App Dock silliness.
Losing the 'Favorites' Dock (which I use constantly) is so incredibly stupid, especially when it's been replaced with a feature that's entirely useless to me. (Doesn't affect me too much since I'm not updating, but that doesn't make it okay.)
In addition to all you said about the timer (I agree!!), I miss the words “minutes” and ‘hours” and … I don’t need it to change to orange. The old version was perfect in its simplicity!!
Quite glitchy on the Apple Watch Series 4. Takes a lot of battery. Hopefully gets better soon. Anyway, upgrading to the series 9 soon
the notification centre action hasn’t changed. it was always like that. home screen just a swipe and within apps hold down. used to be the same for control centre too
Thanks so much much appreciate 😎🇨🇮
You continue to be one of the very best channels for Apple information, thank you
Appreciate that
Just preordered my Apple Watch series 9 today :) last Apple Watch I had was the series 1 and I lost that one 😢
Like the new solar analog watchface. Cool feature without being overly busy.
Hey Aaron, can’t see the “listen for” option in Siri settings, just the ‘hey Siri’ toggle switch. Any idea whether it’ll gradually become available depending on region, or is it some other issue? I’m in India. Also, Siri isn’t evening coming up on saying ‘hey Siri’ when my phone isn’t connected to the internet. It says download data for offline use, and doesn’t show a download option either. Please help out.
Thanks!
I’m absolutely loving watchOS 10 on my Apple Watch Series 7! I mostly look forward to watchOS as I wear my watch daily! I love your content so much, Aaron! Keep it up!:)
I have a Series 7 too but haven't updated yet. Have you noticed any battery drain?
How do you lock your watch when working out? That feature I don’t have since the update and my watch always pauses now it’s frustrating and ideas, tips?
Missing the dock feature a lot...is there any way to get this to work on watchOS 10???
The Solar Analogue face looks so cool.
Pressing and holding to get to the Notification Center has always been there. Same thing for the control panel.
Great video! what is the app you're using in the middle of your modular face with the arching line on the right of the screen?
Lumy
I wish I didn't have to update my phone to get the watch update. Great video
I can’t get rid of the now playing icon when playing music or listening to the radio. Turn off auto launch in settings doesn’t do the trick 🤷🏻♀️
Cool thanks
How’s battery life? Mine gets from 100% to 10% in about 13 hours. It’s series 7 45mm. Not a year old yet.
gotta borrow one for my next interview
What app do you for your Apple Watch face
Notifications for me was a mess. Messages and emails not working. I had to change from mirror my phone to custom and even then they were hit or miss . Finally after a complete reset notifications stared working again .
What about the Green tint issue. It wasn't solved at all.
This battery life is tremendously horrible on my series 5. Hope it gets fixed in later updates soon. But I love it so far.
I just miss being able to slide to different watch faces with my finger from right to left. You have to hold down to change them now.
Horrible on 4 as well
It’s worse on the ultra as well.
Press and hold to change faces is annoying for sure, I’m on the Ultra too. 🤦🏼♂️ I miss Steve Jobs’ input…he was imperfect, but he cared about user interface, and I don’t think he would go with many of the decisions being made currently.
Horrible on the first gen SE as well.
@@CranehawkPilot yeah ive already decided im getting the series 10 next year
Hello, did the put back anything to resume a workout like the old double index finger stop and start?
Love your vids
I open the watch ap on my phone and it jitters and stutters, blinks in and out, and doesn't let me set up watch faces. The weather app on the watch is spotty in giving info. Other issues as well. If this doesn't settle down in the next few days, I may revert back. So far, not impressed. 14Pro Max and Watch Ultra 1st gen.
Anyone know if the AssistiveTouch works exactly as it did in Watch OS9? Would hate to think they removed some features just to make Series 9's Double Pinch a new feature
Hi can you please share the link from where you bought that belt I’ve series 8 41mm watch
Hi Aaron,
observed heavy battery usage on apple watch 8 and iPhone xs max too post update to IOS 17 & WATCH 10IOS. Pl. check if it is the case with any other in this community and what is the way to convey this to Apple.
My watch is 8 months old and xs max battery is having peak performance at 95% as on date. still observed heavy battery consumption since last night post new update.Don't know the reasons...
🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Is it possible that the battery life sucks on some devices? I installed on a SE2 and on a old S5 (which i mostly use it for sleep), and now both watches drain battery like crazy! Is it a glitch or is anyone else having the same issue as me? Also, the double tapping the digital crown for accessing open apps is... annoying? It's true it takes some time to get used to it, but this one really annoyed me for some reason. Great video btw!! You're my go-to youtuber when new Apple tech/OS gets released!!❤
Same for me on my 5
Im thinking same thing is happening to me but with my 8 past 2 nights now it’s been completely dead and it’ll b fully charged before I go to bed
I have the Apple Watch Ultra. Running watch OS 10. There is a glitch when the screen is asleep. When I tap to look at time, it momentarily tries to open up in dark mode. It flickers between both then goes back to normal screen mode
Oh man, my battery life on series 5 has tanked big time. I used to finish the day (about 11pm) on about 40-50 percent remaining but now I have to give it a charge at around 8pm as it has used all the battery. Pretty annoying!
Edit: My watch one day randomly decided to behave and now my battery life is back to normal. I did nothing to change it. I know battery life can be affected somewhat for a short while after an update but it was one extreme to the other!
Anyway, I'm happy again.
Use the dial when u press and hold to change the watch face quickly everyone I’ve seen has swiped
The Health part, about sunlight is pretty interesting 🧐
I wish the Apple Watch Ultra exclusive Watch Face was available on the regular Apple Watches
I need help I’ve just got ultra 2 and brightness doesnt seem to change when I use display and brightness I thought it was meant to be really bright or does it do it automatically in different lights
Battery life on my series 7 is absolutely terrible since doing the update. In less then 6 hours of normal usage it dropped to 50%. At this rate it will not last through a work day.
What app is being used in middle of watch face?
I like it mostly. The activity app is easier to read. Don’t like how you can’t swipe through watch 🎉.
mine is very buggy .. when i turn my wrist to see the time or notifications .. it blurs out and sometimes it goes into inferred.. noticeable bugs ...
While listening to a podcast you used to be able to rotate the crown to dial up/down the volume. Now it shows you the rest of the programs and some other stuff. Do we know how to control the volume now? Loving it otherwise.
I’m waiting for a Notes app on watchOS.
You also forgot to mention a couple of things:
In Grid View, you can no longer move around like a globe or a sphere. Instead, it just scrolls more like a list with rows. You can also quickly change views by scrolling to the bottom.
Incoming notifications and the Scribble keyboard (I own the 2nd gen SE) are now transparent.
Additionally, Messages now supports Edit/Undo Send.
Regarding being able to quickly toggle quickly between List View and Grid View by scrolling to the bottom: That’s a nice feature, but you know what’s even better? The previous method that was in WatchOS 9. If I recall correctly you just touch/hold and you can change it or it changes automatically; can’t recall the exact details as I only did it a few times.
definitely one of the better updates for me i hated the old version of grid view
This is great redesign!
Dang, it sucks that name drop isn't out yet. Also i wish they had some gesture to go back to a previous app. Before this update, it was a double tap to the digital crown. i used it all the time
What strap is this really
Like it
I’m liking the update but My ECG isn’t working, I wonder if it’s a bug with watchOS10? 🤔
Thanks!
Thank you so much!
Can i reply to social media messages from the watch ? I’m a new iPhone user and I’m thinking of buying an Apple watch and this is very important for me
Zollo lives in NC?!
Do we still have the dock?
Wish I saw this before updating my SE…
Hello Aaron, can you please tell me what your watch-face is?
I am using apple 4 series this update is very good
