I have a great time when I’m against a demigod dribbler, someone who’s iso or someone who’s stronger than my lock because it’s fun seeing the battle between a solid lockdown and the opponent.

I think mentioning your stats would help alot with a vid like this.. your badges , attributes. Every player model cannot move this same way. Great tips but it would be nice to know what differences to expect.

This is great info YET, I notice 2k has implemented a mechanic that when players with high ball handle Hesi and go it makes you auto contest when holding up on the right analog stick while in intense defense mode. This mechanic renders you completely out of the play and the dribbler has the ability to go around you with ease. Mind you I’m playing with 94 perimeter defense, 85 speed, and 82 acceleration.
That’s why I have never gotten into a habit of always holding the right stick up. It’s not supposed to be just as fast as hands down intense defense. I never jump on jumpers unless I’m recovering or trying a hero contest.
Just came here after getting cook but a rim runner , I don’t know if I get my player to a 60 strength if that will help.
I gave up video games for about 7 years. I used to be great at 2k. I'm no longer good. So much more to the game now

Locking down someone in iso isnt hard(unless youre guarding steezo)...its when theres a 90+ strength center in front of the dribbler and the center switches to the guard where it gets crazy 😅😅

by the way that last tip from 2Ktutes was what caused me to make a new build. my first build had 93 perimeter defense and 81 speed and I felt slow defending faster players.
My new build has 85 perimeter defense but 87 speed and I've been defending much better.

Just stay back and hands up defense. And do pick and roll on offense every time and just shoot the three.
2:00 im use to keeping my hands down while holding L2 because of last years sliding. kept you from sliding as much, hands up when they looking to shoot. idk if it does it this year. havent noticed yet
Problem with this is if you’re playing comp and they notice your hands are now there’s literally just gonna shoot over you

@@youngdirkk have any tips on playing against pass animations that teleport players to the 3? even though you are close but the game slows you down and breaks distance to give them an open 3? Its frustrating, Defense was my #1 skill in 23, boxing, helping out while pass baiting to make them waste time. in this game i cant even do that. i feel i have to just stare at my opponent and play brain dead defense.

Man this is exactly what I do and they speed boost right past me lol. I think my spacing is the problem. I’m not sure. My perimeter defense is like a 70. My interior is 56. Offensively I’m good. Just defensively I have issues sometimes.
Even I have issues on defense bro, it’s impossible to get a stop every time
And if you wanna be really elite you have to learn how to alternate and work the triggers together to cut off, make good cutbacks, and not slide. 2k22 with all the cheesy left/righting made me really good at this.
And definitely also true, having ur defensive assist less than 15 is so crucial. Been using 5 for the past few yrs but maybe use 15 starting off to be safe until you get used to having full control.

Think it’s a difference between 82 and 83 speed? and should I go 84 driving lay and 50 dunk or 81 lay and 55 dunk ? 🤝🏾
Def go for 84 lay, but you could go lower at like 77 for gold float game and 65-70 dunk for athletic hangs off one and alley oops. It just depends on if you want those quick scoops, 84 gets scooper on hof
1 attribute isn’t gonna make a difference. Personally I would go 75 dunk and lower the layup but it depends on build and height etc. but to answer your question, 81 lay , 55 dunk

Great advice in general but I will say as someone with 90 interior and HOF anchor , post scorers will score on straight up defense if they are good players even with proper position

I always try to tell the big guys do not jump if you’re 7 foot tall just stand there with your hand straight up in the paint! It’ll work nine out of 10 times if not more! It works for everybody, but the big guys are always jumping when they shouldn’t be

It's easy to say that when you're not a big lol hands up does not always work. It actually takes you out of position alot of the time & makes it harder to defend any post moves. It's good against guards for sure but if you have your hands up against the whole time, I'm gonna drop step & precision dunk you to death lol plus it's basically useless vs slashers.
@@wutaktai no it’s not true, I now play big man and I play hands up 80% of the time! Does it take you out of position sometimes? Absolutely, but nowhere near as much as a missed time or missed block us. If you drive at me at 7 foot with my hands up, my defense anchor is gonna pop. My post lock is gonna pop and it’s gonna give you a crazy animation, do I get dunked on? Very rarely, it does happen but not often.

can you do a video on how to defend against "comp" style teams? For instance, 3v3 - typical 6'1 guard screen hunting around a 6'8 defensive center with a lockdown on the corner. Boring as hell offense, but incredibly common. Thanks!

@@youngdirkk Maybe for the future, you could also do "synergy builds" in 3v3. Typical and atypical lineups that players can use on their rebirth to switch things up. Maybe a Jokic-style center that drives the offense, with two small locks or three straight mid range 6'7 beasts. I dunno, I just feel like other content creators are not tackling some intangibles and instead doing a lot of build videos, but not necessarily breaking down concepts and ideas or how builds work together.

Just need to improve on your defense and defensive IQ, you wont get a stop every play its literally impossible no matter how good you are or how bad the opponent is. Just try to improve little by little and really pay attention to what the opponent is doing to try to pickup on their tendencies.
