Growing up in Sacramento Country from 1952, on, we owned property near Placerville, where I spent many days roaming the hills with my best friend and our .22 rifles. We thought we were some sort of frontiersmen. I always loved Placerville and won trophies at the Placerville night MX races that were held at the Country Fairgrounds. I have lived out of state for 22 years now. I sometimes feel very homesick for Placerville and El Dorado County.

I grew up in Placerville and restored our first Victorian there. The video mentioned the Ohio House and it burning down in 1921, we had the back bar from it's saloon in our house for years. The story went, when the fire broke out, the patrons tried to carry the bar out of the building, but it was bolted down so they picked up the ornate two piece 10ft tall back bar and cabinet instead. We moved up 49 to Nevada City about 30 years ago, restoring more houses.

Really nice production and writing. Enjoyed learning a bit about the background of one of the true pioneer settlements of 'Alta California'. Hope to visit again someday!

I lived in Cupertino, CA from birth 1951 to '85, then moved to Placerville until Jan 2023. Love CA but it had gotten so expensive, ridiculousness over new laws, EV push, forced power outages, water/sewer & all utilities expenses were ridiculous, roads had gotten so bad. The state takes alot of money with no accountability for infrastructure upkeep. Homelessness and crime was a big problem when I left and worse now.

And yet you're so homesick that you're watching videos of Placerville just a little over a year later...

Nicely done. I used to live just outside Placerville for a couple of years back in the nineteen eighties. Recognize some of the buildings.

This is nice. I always thought Placerville was some fictional town because it seemed to be mentioned in passing in about every old TV Western.....it was like we just came from Placerville...or we're going through Placerville.....or this guys from Placerville....but we never ever saw Placerville.....so it's nice to know it actually existed and /or still exists.....

It is so sad what CA has become today. As a native of northern CA, I fled the East Bay Area in 2014. It is sad what a once beautiful place of history and beauty has become. They ruin everything!
