Is This the Best Pergola Upgrade? | Installing a Double-Wall Polycarbonate Roof on a Pergola

  • Adding a roof to your pergola is a great addition to make it more usable in inclement weather, and also to block out UV rays from the sun. This project is a relatively quick one that should take no more than a weekend and requires minimal tools to install. Polycarbonate roof panels are relatively inexpensive, lightweight, and can be installed by just one person!

    How is the water drainage without a gutter? I like this idea, but I don’t want to have water pouring straight down on my lawn and blowing back at me when it’s windy. I currently have a shingles roof with a gutter that I’m looking to replace with something more lightweight that lets more light in.

    • @Xyrium
      @Xyrium Před 5 měsíci

      I have to be honest, even with a gutter the falling rain will block back at you. So, while you'd be avoiding the small amount that is hitting the roof, you're not avoiding everything else. We have a similar situation with a gutter, and it's still just one of those things you have to deal with, unless you build four walls, and at that point, a room. :)

    wanted to put up a twin wall polycarb roof over the hot tub portion of my deck. Three 4x12 10 mm panels would cost me $315. The killer was the shipping costs at $685. Why would anyone buy a product where the shipping charges are more than double the cost of the product being purchased?

    You deserve PB&J for that sir! And it doesn't stand for peanut butter and jelly 😉

      No, it certainly wouldn't. A big wind storm would tear that right off.

    OH No...... you have showed us the best pergola , 5 plus stars pergola, high class with all details.... I LOVE IT SO MUCH.
    Now you are covered all the creative, handcrafts wood cross lines, talent installations labor that you created on the pergola that has made not long ago.
    I would cry the whole month if my pergola being covered with roof like you did on yours. (feeling like after 5 hours makeup for the show.... in the last minute .... i cover my face with the whole face mask , only showing the eyes to dance at the show)

      You'll want to talk to a vendor to get all the parts you need. It will vary from installation to installation.
