    The Honda CRF 110F is the second smallest dirt bike in the Honda lineup. Most people start their kids out on the Honda CRF 50F and then transition to this bike. They don’t transition to this bike because it’s a natural progression, they transition to this bike because it’s the only thing Honda has to offer. Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t a terrible bike, but I don’t love it since it is so big, wide, and heavy. Your kid will be much, much too big on their Honda 50 before they can feel comfortable on this bike. I just think there should be a middle ground between the 50 and the 110 in the Honda lineup.
    Once you are able to get past the size and your kid gets a little taller and a little stronger, this bike will treat them right on the trails. It has electric start, which is really nice for my daughter because she has the confidence that she can start it on her own. It has a back up kickstarter which make me very happy for when the kids leave the key on and the battery goes dead (like every time). This little bike has no clutch, and a 4 speed semi-auto transmission to pull the kids around. The motor must have been adapted from some sort of lawn tractor application because not only does it have a ton of torque, it’s also far wider than I’d like it to be. With the motor being very wide, it’s not a narrow platform any any means. The result is that your kids will have a harder time touching the ground with both feet until they get a bit taller.
    This certainly isn’t a racing bike. It is a trail bike. It works fine for my 11-12 year old daughter, but my boys (6 and 9) are far more aggressive riders than her. With that being the case, I’m looking for other alternatives for them like used KTM 50s (2 strokes with about the same seat height). This bike came in at 161 lbs. That is disappointing since some of the full frame size 125cc dirt bikes are around 200 lbs.
    Special thanks to my $10/month patrons on / dirtbikechannel

    About 5 years ago, I purchased a 98 XR70 for my kids. That bike has been ultra reliable. No e-start, but it's easy to kick start. My daughter has no issues at all kick starting this bike. It's the one bike in my fleet that's never had the carb off of it due to gumming.

    Looks like Utah scenery. No clutch, Fuel injected, Honda's reliability, sounds like the perfect bike to get my 9 and 12 year old out on a bike for the first time. Should be a nice Christmas gift.

    I got a 70 when I was 10, rode that for about a year then got a Honda 80 so I could learn how to use a clutch, sold that and went about a year and a half without riding. During which time I grew like 6 inches then I got my 300 when I was 13. Let me tell ya, going from an 80 four stroke to a 300 2 stroke was one hell of a transition. 4 years and several crashes later I love the bike even more than when I first got it

    Great video Kyle. I really enjoy your channel. I'm teaching my daughter to ride her Honda 50 and just bought my son a CRF 70. I was gonna get him a 110, but thought it might be a bit heavier for him due to the engine size and battery (he's 9). If you're ever up here in Washington I'd love to go riding with you. Keep up the great work. Nothing better than riding with your kids and making great memories.

    Actually looking at comparing the CRF110 and KLX110 for my daughter right now. She likes the KXL110 but she hasn't seen the CRF yet. She didn't like the TTR110. Electric start, automatic are the main features and possibly a governor to limit speed. The CRF is supposed to have that, not sure about the KLX or if you could get it as it may just be a throttle twist limiter.

  • @lancairw867
    @lancairw867 Před 6 lety

    I have one and a KLX 110. Great bike for my 10 year old, wife and me for the occasional neighborhood riding 👍🏻biggest motor I believe that you can buy without a clutch. It’s true, you want something easy to ride and easy power with young ones starting out. You don’t want to scare them or get frustrated. They are heavy but my 10 year old boy can pick it up when laid down with out issue. Then they won’t want to ride if the first bike scares them and that’s no good.

    @thomasbubacz2628 Před 4 lety

    The fact that it is a trail bike has everything to do with the weight difference. You can’t compare a 2 stroke kids race bikes weight up against a trail bike of the same size.. but nice video glad to see your daughter is loving it. Have fun and ride safe!

  • @ifonlyenduro79
    @ifonlyenduro79 Před 7 lety

    Good review, I got this bike for my 7 year old who had outgrown her PW50. Great bike, but I agree, it is super heavy. Kyle mentions that is not very powerful, and yes it is a fairly sedated power curve, but this motor has TORQUE!. Hills that could not even be attempted on the 50 are no problem on the 110.

    Here’s the real review: bars- soft, needs upgrade, ignition- needs a digital aftermarket to help startups, carb- needs larger pilot and main jet, rear brakes- needs softer/more aggressive pads (stock just squeak and work poor), find the one with larger wheels, these changes make a big difference in starting, running, stopping, and crashing. Where improvements need to be made

    Like you said it's a trail bike and that's where it's meant to be ridin, woods, mud, hill climbs, sand, etc. A heavier bike for smaller lighter riders is usually better for them in muddy trail conditions.... "usually". Alot depends on your experience level too of course.

    @BarnStangz Před 7 lety

    Nice review. Looks to me like Honda is reusing the 110 that was on the 3 wheeler back in the day (with a slight redesign). And that was a pretty wide engine with the semi-auto clutch. The e-start also makes it heavy like you pointed out. Too bad it doesn't have the hi-lo switch like the 3 wheeler, that would be fun. I think the best jump from bikes would be the CRF50 to the CRF125F (sticking with trail bikes that is...) since the 110 is slightly taller, might as well move to that 125F and have a proper box to bang gears.

    The 110 is very hard to find and if you do its cost $2500 used best to get a 70 and put a big bore kit

      Lets get some more statistics
      Age?
      Height?
      Weight?
      Budget?
      Strength?
      Answer these and it might be easier to answer.

      Emanuel Johansson get a 230. Very low maintenance but if you do a few things to it you can make it a bit more powerful and fast

      Emanuel Johansson xr 250 or xr400, more than enough power for a beginner for trail, reliable and solid, had a xr400 and it was cheap to buy and strong, i resell it 500$ more, cost me nothing to try dirtbike.. crf230 is a good choice too, no need for a ktm 300 or 500 for your first bike

      CRF 230 is the choice.. cheap, reliable, not so fast though, but great for learning new stuff

    I just bought my daughter a 2021 crf 110 and it's very powerful and has zero hesitation. I'm trying to find a way to slow it down.

    Thanks for the great content. Looking to upgrade 7 (soon to be 8) year old twins pw50. I am torn between the Honda 110 and the KTM 50. They want to be like dad and ride a KTM but, I'm looking for longevity. Any input would be greatly appreciated (didn't find your review of the KTM 50). Thanks again, enjoy the moment. Mike.
