one of the greatest military generals of all time, being able to defeat his enemies at lightning speeds, gaining the support of all those of france, napoleon truly deserves his place in history
i think he's kinda overrated
@@fuop8718 He’s not. Well, he was lucky that he lived in the perfect timeline for generals like him - otherwise, he wouldn’t be so popular.

His trust in Davout to hold the line on his right wing is crazy but paid well ! Masterpiece.
@Floron No you mistake with the battle of Iena-Auerstadt but true. :)
most successful general in history, won coalitions several times, dominated all of Europe and gained the respect of all French people. He deserves to have his place in the greatest in history
But some dumbass says he's overrated
@Adolfizzz0 what
But his victorys was pointless, because in the end he was defeated. So he wasn't so successful.
@@user-pg9qb3wy7s it had a longing effect on Europe, ever wonder why the Russians revolted in 1821?
@@troll5161 I know about his reforms. But we are talking about his military successes
He splits the numerically superior Russian and Austrian army and then proceeds to defeat them piecemeal.
71500 vs 88900 is not that much superiority
There have been many battles where superior tactics and terrain were used to defeat army 10x the size
@@user-up3dd1vw6band?
It’s always weirdly fascinating to see the point of one sides collapse in a battle like this. I find it more interesting than the meat grinders personally.
0:11 That subtle diversion of troops on the left to bait the Russians to weaken their centre is a tactical masterpiece.
Да, а русские не могут бросить своих в беде
One of the greatest Napoleon's battle
@Adolfizzz0 Okay?
@Adolfizzz0
Tu peut résumé en deux ou trois phrases plutôt merci....
I didn‘t even know that Napoleon controlled the airport of Brno. 😂
Yeah, he won thanks to air superiority😂
planes did no exist back then, dragons did, go read books ignorant, dracarys!
When wars were fought with 1 decisive battles instead of big ass frontlines
technology and tactics evolves it's also like with the first and second coalitions napoleon marched into austria which it looks like he just snaked in, in a map it looks like austria hasn't lost but militarily they definitely have
36,000 Casulties on Coalition side and 9,000 Casulties on the french side
Defeating 60 thousand people in 23 minutes. That's creepy crazy.
I love of France lose only a few men per second while it's hundreds for the coalitions 😅
@@ommsterlitz1805 French troops fought on the defensive at Telnitz and Sokolnitz, that's why they're taking less casualties
@@trollege9618 It's Austerlitz French troops did much stronger and heavier assaults while not suffering nearly the same casualties, French troops of the this era were just stomping on everyone with usually much less casualties.
@@ommsterlitz1805 French troops from 1805-1812 were the best troops ever. Thoroughly trained at Boulogne during the cancelled invasion of Britain in 1804.

“It’s over Napoleon! I have the high ground!”
“You underestimate my power!”
“Don’t try it!”
“Actually… you really do underestimate my power.”
ok one question, how do you make these epic animations?
If Napoleon's flank is weak, he knows that, and it's weak for a reason.
He didn't mean to have a weak right wing it only became his strategy when he knew Davout would came late.
He had ground advantage on the heights of Prätzen before ceding its position to the Austro-Russian, mimicking a debacle in the sight of the enemy.
It was part of a mind game, he wanted them to be over confident, into thinking the french didn't wanted to fight and so to incite them to attack first to the slightest apparent weakness. (Austerlitz is just after Trafalgar, France just lost its navy and with it the plans to invade England, he needed a decisive victory to end the war and quick before the prussians came in aid)
The video does not depict it but the meteo played a big role into his strategy to reconquer the heights of Prätzen.
The prelude of the battle of Austerlitz is very interesting and show the great general he truly is.
@@14Duval So.. its literally what I said. Thanks for the quick lesson for something I already knew. So as I said, Napoleons wing was weak, because he know it was weak, and wanted it to be weak.
@@kogerugaming Sure, It was just a clarification for people that are interested to know more.
GREAT WORK!
The Battle of Austerlitz are the Napoleon's Masterpiece
great video as always
One wonders whether even if they didn't take the bait if they would have stood a chance.
Likely yes they had greater numbers and held the high ground
Most likely yes. Napoleon relied on tactics and mobility precisely because he knew his army was against a superior force.
French army was still better trained and organised than their opposition thanks to Napoleon. Historians studying these battles can’t concretely puts which Russian commander was in command of which unit because of the way the Russian organised their army, which was considered antiquated. This was demonstrated on this very battle when a numerical superior allied army can’t break 2 corps of the French army on their weak flank.
I thought the army size decide who will win but what actually decide who will win is tactics and strategy.
True, but also not true.
The masterpiece of this battle is that Napoleon purposly gave high ground
to austrians and russians and he still won, bro can you imagine giving ur enemy a better battle position and still win haha
@@gamelandmaster3680 Numbers winning wars is sort of something the US made up (they lose nearly every war in the last 80 years except like the first gulf war.). No one else really believed it. You do need enough trained men to compete with enemy armies but after a certain point it does not matter.
Wonder what would have happened if Napoleon lost this battle.
The first blitzkreig
it does seem like for the most part of the battle he was just match the Russian and Austrians man for man and gun for gun, and came out on top because french army in general has better quality during that time, the flanking on the south happen really after the battle was effectively over.
This map does not show - or marginaly - how Napoleon was a strategical and tactical genius :
A/ this map does not show how Napoleon tricked the Autrians and Russians into battle when he asked for a ceasefire. Prussia was about to join the coalition and he needed to trigger the battle fast.
B/ this map does not show Napoleon's intensive battlefield scouting, how and why he chose this one
C/ this map does not show Napoleon abandoned purposedly the Pratzen heigths, once again in the view to fake weakness and to trigger the battle.
D/ it undermines how the French right flank was purposedly left weak, and reinforced during the battle by over-exhausted troops, who forced-march dozens of miles in a record time.
E/ this map does not show the weather, with a thick fog in the early morning. And it does not show how Napoleon changed is plan during the battle because of it. Originally, the left flank - including massive cavalry - was supposed to storm the Pratzen heights, while the centre destroyed the Allied left. The fog made Napoleon carry a head-on infantry charge on the heigths because they were covered by the fog.
Of course, the French army was the best in the world, but Napoleon made miracles too.
And FYI, this battle is still studied in every military school in the world.

This contradicts the words of Napoleon himself. "Winning a battle doesn't mean winning a war."
I cannot say that Napoleon entered Moscow victorious. But remember how Alexander came to Paris

Honestly really the only reason Napoleon won was because Davout had arrived just in time as he forced marched III Corps for 2-3 days and they had just arrived in time as French troops were being pushed back from telnitz and sokolnitz by the allied attack but Davout was luckily one of the fastest moving corps
