To me it's WILD when people think the God of the old testament (which is the same of the new testament) is full of wrath. If anything, the old testament just shows over and over and over how slow God is for Anger and how much He wants to reconcile with us. God creates people and tells them how to live a happy, healthy life, and the OT is people just disobeying and disobeying and every time they kind of show a hint of repentance, God is always rushing to forgive. The most clear example is Israel in the wilderness, but you also see it during the fall, with the patriarchs, the prophets, the Psalms...

I enjoyed this video…The interspersed moaning agonizer😂! Great hearing your perspectives. I see Job’s spirit as victorious, not broken. If we were made to worship God because of who God is (not because of anything we get from him) then Job’s repentance is him overcoming the need to understand and experience life a certain way or have God owe him anything (including explanations…which is what Job wanted). I love that Job shows that some suffering is so deep as to only be understood by God alone. “I’ve learned to kiss the waves that throw me up against the Rock of Ages.”-Charles Spurgeon

I feel like your need for a “… however” was also my reaction to reading the latter half of the Old Testament. Definitely my Catholic upbringing showing itself but I found myself sighing with relief when I finally got to the first of the Gospels because I knew there was going to be at least some respite from the unrelenting doom 😂

As someone who was raised in a southern Baptist church, it’s so nice to hear your thoughts on the Scriptures.
Job and Ecclesiastes have always been a fixation for my own questioning and doubtful mind. Many don’t consider the struggle ol’ Job undergoes with his so-called friends between losing it all and getting it twice over.

I really enjoyed this video Ben. I did not wind up changing my feelings about 'God" but I did remind myself that I was the one that gave God the power that brought all of this to the fore. Thank you for reading this for me as truthfully I would not have been able to read it for myself; I had a hard time getting through your reviews were hard enough. Unfortunately, I left feeling the same (or increased) amount of anger that I had at the beginning. You are so amazing and so appreciated, thank you so much !

Sort of wise that. Very well done. Fascinating that Job is not Hebrew. To me, the craggy peaks of Job are all treatment but no cure. Sincere thanks (!) for taking me along on your Job quest. All that Blake was a nice touch. But, as ever, the ways of God remain unjustified to Man. Alas. Am looking forward to your Ecclesiastes.

The book of Job shows god as a tyranny
First, GOD TEMPTS Satan to focus on Job.
Then after doing that once, he does it AGAIN!
Then, when god finally speaks to Job, if I were Job, my simple response would be, "who made me unable to comprehend, or to lack the power. Sure, I don't have the understanding, nor the power of which you speak, and whose fault is that?
Don't self-aggrandize when you are the one preventing us lower life forms from being able to comprehend.
Who are you to think yourself worthy of worship?
Here you are with all of this power to help, and you don't.
A doctor with the ability to heal, should I call upon him if he will refuse to aid me?
You are a being with power, who refuses to share, or even help. It is better that I die, than live in a world with a god who turns a blind eye because he is so limited that he can't HELP me, and run the universe.
