It's been a while since when I made a GATE's AMV.
I confess you I'm quite disappointed, because a bit of time ago rumors about a season II (or a movie) of Gate have started appearing in some forums, but at the end everything proved being just a fake.
However, part of me is quite happy that we'll never see a Gate II, because especially after reading the novels I fully understood the kind of disaster they did to try sweetening some of the most dark and explicit contents; and considering that most of the said problematic moments happen right after the series, there were strong possibilities to see a totally distorted Gate II anime.
Well, no matter.
I tried many times to make an AMV with this song, and I think the final result is quite good, what do you think?

In almost every tv show, anime, or movie where magic or superpowers are involved, the military, if they show up at all, are only there as helpless punching bags. The monster turns out to be immune to bullets or something, and then it becomes a mook horror show as redshirts die by the truckload. Well, not in GATE. This is their revenge.

Fun fact: in The Lost Battallion music video, the drums are replaced with actual pistol fire (I can't remember what model) and the cymbols with the sound of a bayonet running a man through so to speak.

What we call magic simply could be technology to a far more advanced civilization. Take the cellphone. To people in the B.C eras, apart from perhaps the Ancient Egyptians, the cellphone would be perceived as magic. So in other words, it's all technology to somebody. TL:DR, it's perfectly reasonable to bring your tank to a mage fight.

@Erich von Donitz No, the jsdf were defending themselves, the first few episodes of the anime were literally the empire either massacring civilians, or launching all out attacks on the jsdf who were merely trying to make good relations with the empire. And the entire first season had multiple scenes that proved the jsdf weren't monsters, since they took in refugees, and built a whole village for people to reside in. And in the final few episodes were zorzal declaring war on Japan, and the jsdf responded to the declaration by saving princess pina and the king (I forgot his name).

I dunno, Gate seems to be the reverse of the actual Battle of Rorkes drift, considering the tactics of line fighting with the single shot before reloading is one of the reasons the Zulus got so close at Rorkes drift, in gate, its full auto wall of lead
eh, well, there's a smaller force with modern technology going up against hordes of people with very few ranged weapons. Not too different.

The tactics of lineinfantry were actually superior against uncoordinated attacks, during that time it was possible to keep constant gun fire at the enemy, with enough men ofc.
@@tommykirk3403 Britian was too extended, if we bunched up tight it would be alot harder, also ammo boxes were too well sealed meaning ammo was slow to be delivered. Against spears we could of formed up tight more napolnic formations and sqaure etc
with men digging in, and going tighter it would of been alot closer.

What I like about GATE was that the modern Japanese did the modern war thing, demolish the military, but treat the civilians nicely, even going so far as to provide relief and aid. And the civilians in the fantasy world are like "Hey, this _way_ better than being raped and pillaged!"

In the later parts of the novel and manga Zorzal's Pro-War regime launched a massive scorched earth campaign in every village in their domain where they killed the men and children mercilessly, raped the women and burned the settlements, the JSDF quickly took action helping the victims but they are stalled by guerilla offensive made by Zorzal's man-child general Herm Fule Maio, regardless the JSDF eventually destroyed all the guerilla bases and launched a grand and enormous blitzkrieg assault with Pina and the Pro-Peace backing them up, easily destroying the all but one Pro-War defense perimeter in a single, day, what's funny is the Pro-War who did survived the assault and run away are dumbfounded because they can't understand why the civilians who they victimize always chase them and later hacked them to pieces as revenge.

Imagine how hard of a time the empire would have if this happened in America. Not only would you have to deal with a few million civs that have firearms but also the police department that could possible have ex-military if it's a large city even if they past that they would most likely be stopped either by the national guard or a local military base.

@@maryjoygelizon4268 North Korea would still annihilate the empire lol. Even the JSDF only sent their most obsolete/cheapest weaponry (F-4 Phantoms, AH-1 Cobras, tanks that look like they’re from the Cold War, some rifles that have wood on them, etc.) and still annihilated them lol
North Korea’s army may look weak against any modern power but an army that uses Cold War era weapons would still annihilate an army that uses Roman Empire era weapons lol
