Good on ya. I relocated from the UK to Isabela to be with my filipina wife. I made the conscious, but scary and excited decision to leave a highly paid job (I was a CEO for a global tyre company) at the age of 55. Best decision I ever made! Since July 2023, I have got my 1st year residency visa and started to build our modern Filipino home. Oh, and we bought a 2 hectare farm to grow rice 😊 Waking up with my wife every day and having a stress free life is amazing. Anyone considering coming to the Philippines, please do it if you can. It's an amazing country and the people are so kind, respectful and happy. Cheers, Simon

So many dream of changing their lives but for most it remains just that, a dream. Fear of the unknown, thoughts of missing friends and family, financial constraints or whatever. A believable excuse to oneself is far better than none at all. But you, Alan, have taken that leap of faith into the unknown. That is admirable in itself. The UK has, in my opinion, together with most of the western world entered or is entering a period of decay both in a financial and moral sense. I wish you and your filipino lady every happiness and success..
I don't blame you moving out of this country, it's completely broken from the top down! Philippines has gained a great very talented mechanic, you can take that skill anywhere in the world and make a success out of it. Best wishes for the future.

Very bold. My husband Andy said he can so much relate to your fears regarding receiving the "last wage" & your stress getting to / time preparing for work. He said it felt so much like "eat, sleep, repeat". We now do something very different to before & love it. Yes there is work to do & times of stress but it does not feel the same as the old grind routine.
Big respect for you on this. I’m same age. Very interested in how you fit in with new culture. Please let us know about that as you learn. Best of luck with every step.

Never heard or seen your chanel before. Just want to say go for it and enjoy it what a bold move . I hope you an your new woman/ girlfriend are happy wishing you all best fella ❤
Very happy to hear that you've made the decision. I'm considering a similar move (similar situation to you financially but don't own any property in the UK) from the UK to the wife's home country, have already bought a property over there which we're slowly fitting out as a holiday home at the moment. Cost of living in the UK in retirement for us will be breadline at best no matter what I try to do financially whereas abroad it will be about £400-500 pm and that's living to Western standards.
Just came across your channel. All the very best to you on your new adventure! You are one of thousands who are leaving the UK for a better life and to live some where that actually rewards you for your skill set and hard work. 🍀
I have been looking forward to this video Alan.. well done for being brave enough to do it. It reminds me about when I moved to UK, especially about overweight luggage and starting your life over in a new place. Good luck! 👍 Nice of Monica to take you both to the airport 👍
Great video Alan... we all feel the same as you... it takes guts to make a move like that... my wife is from Palawan... and we are hoping to move there in the next few years... I've followed your videos on Mondeos forever... great content and saved me a huge amount of cash on mechanics... I'll be really interested to see what kind of vehicle you buy yourself out there... second hand prices are crazy... All the best... I hope we can expect more content now you have the time... lolol... We are all rooting for you!!!!
You did the right thing... when you are "comfortable" there is nothing to strive for in life. I have moved continents 7 times since 1980... I am 66 now and I am still looking toward the horizon for my next move. When I come back to the UK and see the people I know who have never gone further than their garden gate, I can see how I have "grown". There is so much to see out in the world and the thought of staying ond one place too long is suffocating... for me in any case. Someone once told me "courage is leaving the familiar behind". What you have done is daunting but exciting at the same time. Don't worry about the finances, if it feels tight, everything will fall into place. Just think about the memories you are making for Tyler and yourself; it will be amazing for him. Best wishes...and be thankful for the opportunity.
GOODLUCK mate. I was born in the Philippines and has since lived in the UK for over 38yrs now and becoming disillusioned therefore will also be going back to the Philippines. sure will Joseph, have a good one and all the best too
Great to see the move. Hope you and your son live a long and happy life.
Thank you and all the best to you celticmist
Well done Alan and Good luck with your new life and Adventures to come and a new start in life and I would like to say live the dream as you only live once so enjoy your new world

Hi Alan. Great update and glad your happy with your choice to leave. I appreciate it was a big big. Life changing step. I thinks it would be nice to hear from. Tyler. His thought's and reason's for coming with you. I assume a deal was done between the two of you. If Tyler does not get what the country has to offer a teenager's future. A plan is in place for him to move on. This video should be on a mainstream TV documentary channel, For sure. Looking forward to the next one. Cheers. 👍👍
cheers Norman, yes will update Tyler later when I know how it all works but will enrolling him into mindanao central college so will see how it works out, he is vet happy at the moment, I told him no matter what happens we have plan b lol, all the best

Wishing you all the best Alan, really hope it all works out for you.
thanks Robert, all the best to you
Very happy to hear that you've made the decision. I'm considering a similar move (similar situation to you financially but don't own any property in the UK) from the UK to the wife's home country, have already bought a property over there which we're slowly fitting out as a holiday home at the moment. Cost of living in the UK in retirement for us will be breadline at best no matter what I try to do financially whereas abroad it will be about £400-500 pm and that's living to Western standards.
sounds like a plan, hope it all works out for you, all the best
Just came across your channel. All the very best to you on your new adventure! You are one of thousands who are leaving the UK for a better life and to live some where that actually rewards you for your skill set and hard work. 🍀
"Fortune favours the brave" Best of luck to you Tyler, and jenna☘️
thank you John, all the best to you
@@alan4x❤

Wow Brother! Congratulations!! I am so happy for you! I want to move over there as well soon! I will be there in March would be cool to meet!
I have been looking forward to this video Alan.. well done for being brave enough to do it.
It reminds me about when I moved to UK, especially about overweight luggage and starting your life over in a new place. Good luck! 👍
Nice of Monica to take you both to the airport 👍
thanks bartoszk812, I feel its good to express how you feel when making big decisions in life, all the best to you
Great video Alan... we all feel the same as you... it takes guts to make a move like that... my wife is from Palawan... and we are hoping to move there in the next few years...
All the best Alan and your son on your new adventure.
cheers Malcolm😊
Well done mate
Good move
I moved myself from Yorkshire to the Orkney islands Scotland
nice one, glad it worked well, all the best
So brave and the very best for your future, by the way...so close to the main road and all those great break downs, what an oppurtunity for you
cheers rick, all the best to you
Hi Alan I sincerely hope everything works out for you and your son Tyler.Kena has definitely a good mechanic to fix and maintain her vehicle.
Thanks 👍John, all the best to you
GOODLUCK mate. I was born in the Philippines and has since lived in the UK for over 38yrs now and becoming disillusioned therefore will also be going back to the Philippines. Looks like there are plenty of things there to keep you busy. Just keep active and eat well and you should be fine there. GOODLUCK to you and your new family in the Philippines 👍

thank you Philip, appreciate it and all the best to you for the future
I starting farming about 10 years ago, knew nothing about it, the only thing I would say is, where you have live stock you will have dead stock, it happens. The skills you have as a mechanic are problem solving, farming is similar. Big changes Alan bet it will be good.
thank for the advise, appreciate it, all the best to you
England is just a name for a football team today, the country is done.
Good Luck to ya.
Great vid. Best of luck in your new endeavours.
Wishing you all the best Alan from Ireland.

thank you so much, all the best to you as well
I happened upon your video about the mk4 mondeo only yesterday as thinking of getting an estate model oral pug 508sw. I subscribed & the very next day you come up in the Philippines. I wish you good health and happiness. I hope all works out well for you. Ps: I was not long into the video on the Mondeo, to realise what a genuinely helpful & honest man you are.
thank you so much and all the very best to you, thanx for the sub😊
Alan, thank you for the video, it's a really interesting and precious recording because it's so raw, so real. We need more of this and it takes a bit of courage to share this so I'm really grateful for it! I think you will do well, be it anything it is you chose to do and it sounds like you're already having some fun :P Thank you again and wish you great times!
Well done pal, very brave but I'm so jealous. Me and family thinking about moving to south Europe as the gen weather in uk just getting worse every year
Love the T shirt, best of luck with the new life. With the way the UK is going I don't blame you moving there.
thanks Simon and all the best
What a surprise. Its good to know that you are in a warm and sunny country while im on the muddy and rainy ground here in Sweden. Your videos saved my MK4 many times, together with my familys budget.
Good luck over there, my wife are from Japan, I hope one day to be able to move there.
Sounds to me that you have made a phenominal decision Alan having listened to you and watched the video. Totally get the motivation behind it. Yes, there's going to be moments, but that's all part of the excitement. I take my hat off to you...
All the best Alan. Have loved your channel this last 5 years.
I tried to emigrate to NZ twice in 2009 and 2011, but unfortunately wasn't able to get it over the line. It ended up in part costing me my marriage a few years later.
The very best of luck...and keep the videos coming.
That’s very sad - sorry to hear 😢
Sorry to hear that graham but thanks you and all the best to you for your future plans
I always find it strange tens of thousands of 'refugees' from the Middle East can be accepted in NZ but they don't want to migrate to Indonesia etc.
Bon voyage Alan enjoy mate updates about life in the Philippines would be great every now and then cheers and good look to you all 👍👍
thanks Pokemon and all the best to you
Fair play , even here in Ireland the quality of life is getting unliveable, you definitely have made the correct decision
What do you mean by "even"? Irealnd has always been an impoverished backwater.
L@@thadtuiol1717Like your brain.
Great video Alan and I love your honesty. The very best of luck in your new life.
