The Peacists: Tagu Jams Live Recording Session

"Smile! Greatness is all around you." These lyrics from The Peacists' "Aphone Tay" (Smile Song) encapsulate what this Myanmar indie rock band is all about. The Peacists (‪@thepeacists3214‬) songs remind us to be gentle, to be kind to one another, and to be grateful of all the wonders we experience on this earth. So it was amazing that they were the first band to be recorded (December 22, 2021) in our Tagu Jams live recording sessions.
The Peacists started as so many bands did, jamming casually in high school, until their mutual interest made them decide to take it seriously and start recording. Formed in 2013, the band celebrates its tenth year as one of the top underground bands in Myanmar.
The Peacists’ debut album, “Kyal Taryar Kha Yee Sin” (“Journey to the Stars”) includes eight tracks and the CD features artwork designed by local fashion brand Madnest. Stylistically, “Journey to the Stars” has a Burmese ’80s rock and pop vibe, influenced by such acts as Pho Cho, Khin Maung Toe and others. For the past year, they have been working on their second album Than Lite Eain Myaung (Compass) which will feature astounding number of 16 songs. And we cannot wait to hear what they have been cooking up.
The Peacists played a total of 3 songs in this jam session. The first song "Akyin Nar Ta Kaung Sar Pay Par" is a single that they have never officially released but been playing at gigs for awhile. And it was such a treat to feature it in this session. Enjoy!
