this is so funny to me! I'm dutch and when we say 'nice to meet you' we say 'LEUK je te ontmoeten' if you would say ' lekker om jou te ontmoet' it would mean 'tasty to meet you' and if we say ontmoet we say it as 'ik heb iemand ontmoet' = I have met someone. ontmoeten is the whole verb. so similar, yet so different. very cool
@@senbonzakurakageyoshi662 Afrikaans IS Dutch from very long ago. It did not evolve the same way as the dutch spoken in the Netherlands .
Lekker does not necessarily mean tasty, sometimes it can be used in another context for example
"Hoe was jou reis Kaap toe?" "Lekker
Meaning
"How was your trip to Cape town?"
"Fun"
Another example
"Die wind waai lekker vandag"
Meaning
"The wind today is nice"
Another one
"Lekker slaap"
Meaning
"Sleep well"
It basically just means nice, fun tasty, well, good, and so on. Just a word describing nice.
I just realised this is probably not what you meant but I'll send it anyways
Wow! Jou Afrikaans is baie goed!!! Your Afrikaans is really good. You sound like a native already! Baie mooi👌🏻
She is such an inspiration 🙏🏻

I'm Afrikaans living in Cape Town in South Africa 🇿🇦. You were amazing Bong. Super impressive 👏 👌 🙌 👍 Blessings to you for showing interest in our very unique and young Language which I feel is slowing dying out sadly.
You did extremely well, your pronunciation is excellent for a brand new learner of Afrikaans :)
I'm Afrikaans and very impressed how quickly you got it right. Well done.

I hope you have noticed my comments in the chat. They are the first ones. I have written why I couldn't watch your yesterday's stream. I hate spam. Sorry for rewriting comments.

It’s almost like dutch! Luv this!
English is my third language and i try to learn more about it and you're video is Motivates me to learn more ❤️❤️

Dude you're a natural! I cannot believe how quick you did that.. Baie goed gedaan. En liewe bliksem, dit Sal die eerste Japanese ou wees wat Afrikaans praat. Ten minste in mu ondervinding.
Mooi Afrikaans
Ook, goed om jou te ontmoet.
Very well done Bong. Greetings from SA.
pretty good
lindie is the best!
Wow!
Amazing video !! Saludos desde México
This is the best attempt to speak afrikaans I have ever seen. I wouldn't even call it an attempt, most of the phrases were perfect even with the pronunciation.
Just look at 11:17 the spelling is wrong, it should be "Dis 'n plesier"
Wow wow! Your pronunciation is perfect. You really have a knack for language learning. Great job! (In Afrikaans: Sjoe! (pronounced 'shoe') Jou uitspraak is perfek. Jy het regtig talent om tale te leer. Goeie werk!)
Lindie, jy is 'n uitstekende juffrou. Sulke goeie voorbeelde!
Wow. You're a really good learner
Also if you're speaking informal in the countryside we also often say: "Mooi bly" or "Mooi loop" which means safe travels.
I love Afrikaans.
Well done man! Knap gedaan!
You really took to it very naturally. Usually the first attempts are total botch jobs but nope, you nailed most of it.
Wow
If you want to practice Filipino (Tagalog) I can volunteer since we're still on lockdown 😅 nice content as always my brother!
awwwwwww you two are soooo beautifullll
Afrikan: Lekker om jou te ontmoet.
Dutch: leuk in jou te ontmoeten.
Nice
Greeting from Japan
Mooi,aangenaam kennis making.
Wel gedaan, you did very well :)
Dis altyd ' plesier om jou Afrikaans te hoor praat, Lindie. Groete uit Nederland. (oops I thought this was Lindies' channel)
I dont know how, but I live in UK now and I haven't spoke afrikaans in a long time. In the UK there like very little sa to speak it to. Like 3% of people are from SA. I think it good that some SA don't loose it .
Great videoo
Bong, Totsiens is almost the same as Auf Wiedersehen. The earlier form was Tot weersiens Untill again see. But that part eventually fell away.
The people you are talking about forms a large portion of the Afrikaans speaking community, but they are not the majority of the speakers. They also have some fun dialects as well.
Ek het 'n lekker smaakie, hier binne in my hartije...
Wow your accent is wonderful! You sound like a native Afrikaans speaker! And coming from a native Afrikaans speaker😉
Can't wait. Ask her to teach you Indonesian as well
I think Lindi's Indonesian isn't really proficient for doing such thing. (I'm an Indo so I can judge her Indo skill) XD
👌 jy leer baie vinnig !! 👋👋😁
Could you make a video speaking japanese with Lindie, plzzz? :D
after some experimentation in google translate between afrikaans, german, english and swedish, i managed to interpret "bly te kenne" to "remain to know" - as in "don't be a stranger", and i find it heart warming :)
The meaning here is not exactly remain but bly here means glad or pleased. Ek is baie bly. I am very glad. We also say Ek bly hier. I live here/stay here. Can you stay a little? Kan jy 'n bietjie bly? Languages are so wonderful.
So I happened to chance upon this video and I speak very little Afrikaans since twelfth grade when I had to learn it. There's this song called Dames by Biggy and there's this joke that some students can't pass their Afrikaans exam but they know all the lyrics to Dames. I know that's random but I just thought about that song when I saw this video. Also... your pronunciation is so good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Bong, what about the Sirilics Languages like Russian or Ucrania?, can u make a video?
You are pronouncing the words better than i thought yoi would 😂
welgedaan jy kom mooi reg.
I am native dutch so this is interesting to see how they use dutch words but just mix it up a litle.
Ta prononciation de l'afrikaans est presque parfaite - félicitations!
Wow Afrikaans is like really easy German
I think after this video, I will learn the South African language because it is very similar to the German language, my favorite language
Just so you know Afrikaans is only one of the eleven languages in South Africa
hello please tell me book for kanji
i mean all 2500 of them
i only know 100 so... please tell me.
Ship?
すごい
Oh wow! You really did well. Some of it isn't perfect, but a lot of it was perfect (like 90% of it was perfect!). If you only said the words you spoke perfectly, I wouldn't even know that you're not Afrikaans!
that moment when he asked Lindie, “how are you?” @8:15
and his repeat to the Afrikaans! Perfect! Very rare. English speaking people struggle with the 'g' of Afrikaans.
Angename kennis remindes me a bit of the German "Angenehm dich kennenzulernen" wich means literally the same! Im surprised!
I should teach you IsiZulu as one of the most spoken language in South Africa
Hou aseblief aan my moedertaal te leer....
( Please continue to learn my mother tongue)
Learning languages has never been so easy
I ship these two hehehe
to similar to dutch
Bly om jou te ontmoet.
Afrikaans uses the most same words as dutch, and dutch is in the prounounse the nearly the same as german. Pls make a video where you prepare some dutch words, cause i think you will pick up the language very fast :)
Dutch words and german are similar but the pronunciation is not very similar.
@@Setetoto thats what i mean, but like dat is and das ist.. goed and gut, melk and milch almost sound the same

I speak Dutch and Afrikaans is so similar to Dutch
I’m Afrilkaans
Once a fellow Afrikaans speaker greeted me with "Bly te kenne". I thought the guy was Dutch or something, because many millennials simpy say "aangenaam" or even more brief, "ganit", which is short for "how gaan dit?".
Aangename kennis is pretty much dying out... except in really formal setting. 🤷♀️ honestly, afrikaans people dont actually say nice to meet you, like ever. I don't remember ever saying it... except when meeting english people when it's good manners. Just a tip for anyone wanting to sound like a native.
Ja.
It's crazy bcz he sounds Afrikaans😂
לִינְדִּי בּוֹץ; בִּיג בּוֹנג
Baie lekker! Ek dink dat jy Afrikaans ongelooflik is. Jy moet absoluut na Suid-Afrika kom en Afrikaans praat. 🇿🇦🥳🎊🎊
Өте қызықты эфир болды 😄 Африканша осындай болады деп ойламаппын, қызық екен 👍😁😁
I know the word Lekker because I play Sigma in Overwatch way too much lmao
As a native Afrikaans speaker, I would like to say well done. You really crushed it in the first lesson.
