    I have this exact saw and put it together yesterday and did my first cuts. I put a 1/2 hp motor on it and I feel it's a great saw. I love the stainless steel. Definitely consider this saw if you're in the market for one and consider a 1/2 hp motor over a 1/4 or 1/3 hp.

      Susan MarkleySchmitt Thank you so much for watching my friend I really appreciate it and thank you for the concern but a diamond blade on the lapidary machine that is a continuous rain much like the blades I use for my last day at work are not dangerous and cannot cut your fingers it can cut your fingernails but the fingers are too soft for the diamond and just kind of hydroplane off of the finger thank you for the concern though my friend :)

      Diana Chack Thank you so much for watching my friend I really appreciate it I highly suggest buying the TS 10 over the TS 10 C because it’s easy to find use motors or to pull them out of things like washing machines and such and also the blades are very affordable if you buy them from websites like Johnson brothers lapidary the blade in the video here goes for about $20 So you could save yourself about 400 bucks if you can find a motor and buy the TS 10 over the TS 10 C

      @@lapidarydave Thank you for the recommendations. We deal in a lot of scrap and small engines. So parts, wires and we tend to do our set up and builds on various things. So this is helpful for us since 99% of the time we will use spare parts or do our own custom set up. I look forward to the next one as we are currently looking to aquire more lapidary tools.

    Hiya Dave,
    I can see what that hole is for now, the curved guard directs the water the blade throws off directly at it. So rather than waiting for the water or oil to find the slot around the blade to return to the reservoir, the hole lets the lubricant straight back down.
    stay safe, Steve...

    I have a ton of lepidolite from the Harding mine area from when I lived in Taos, but have no way to cut it. I'm trying to keep things cheap for now so I'm considering buying a tile saw from Harbor Freight.

      Gunslinger 11B Thank you so much for watching my friend it’s super cool that you still live in Taos and that you have been to the Harding mine I haven’t been there in years but I have a lot of the material from when I went there with UNM a tile saw is definitely more than good enough for slicing up those rocks and processing them to be sold if you have the extra money I would highly suggest the $200 tile saw that harbor freight sells with the sliding table

    Would you use this saw to cut medium found rocks and trim down to cabs? Or do you recommend a 6" or 8"? I have various MOH hardness rocks to cut in half and trim down to different shapes. Thanks for any advice.

    • @lapidarydave
      @lapidarydave  Před 3 lety

      dj-kulz Are use this salty both trim and slab I don’t cut a lot of very precious materials such as opals in a lot of the turquoise I cut isn’t much larger than what I would traditionally cut using a 6 inch so you can also get the same size saw blades In 10 inches as you can for 6 inches so if you’re worried about precision you could always buy a much thinner blade for this 10” saw

    • @lapidarydave
      @lapidarydave  Před 3 lety +1

      Stephen Harris So it depends on the material that I’m cutting this song is so big that I can cut it into little slabs by hand when it comes to soft stuff like lepidolite or turquoise if it’s a heart or stone like a jasper I would normally use a slab saw they do make advice for this saw that was not included with my purchase in which someone could set up some kind of weight system to where it cuts it without having to do it by hand but I almost never use the saw sense nowadays I’m usually cutting smaller pieces of material and I also have a much larger slab so if I was going to cut something larger AnyWho thank you so much for watching my friend I really appreciate it feel free to ask any question anytime it’s totally my pleasure to help and please consider subscribing if you haven’t done so already it really helps the channel

      Phillip Kenewell I have my friend and honestly I believe it to be the best machine in the industry I’m good friends with Sherman and John Rowland who own the company and I’ve even had the pleasure of working for highland park for a short amount of time :) it’s not the most affordable deal in the industry especially since it won’t come with wheels but it definitely is the best machine being made in the industry and I highly recommend it :) I have t been able to review since I’ve been so broke this last year and it’s only been officially sold since February 😭 I asked to buy their prototype years ago but it wasn’t for sale
      Thanks for the suggestion I really appreciate it if I can’t get the dough to buy one soon I will go visit highland park in Massachusetts and do a review on their machine ASAP

      @@lapidarydave Not sure what you were saying just after you mention WD40 Dave, but what WD40 is, is a spray canister of very thin oil that's used as a lubricant by the likes of mechanics for getting rusty bolt threads freed up. You can also spray it on motorcycle controls if the bike has been left out in the rain as it's very effective at water dispersal. Anyway, thanks for your thoughts, gona save me £70 on mineral oil.
