The cheek fat thing is crazy. As you age, your face naturally loses its plumpness and becomes sunken in. If you remove that now, you’ll be looking like Skeletor as a granny.

There was a Twilight Zone episode called, "Number 12 Looks Just Like You", where everybody is required to undergo an operation at age 19 to become beautiful and conform to their society. Yep...and there was another Twilight Zone episode (or was it The Outer limits???)...where a woman woke up in a hospital with her face bandaged...she has plastic surgery to look "normal/beautiful" as she was hideous to everyone that she her. Well, the bandages came off and she was a normal pretty, nicelooking woman. She started screaming and crying when she looked in the mirror because the surgery didn't "make her beautiful." The camera then pans to the faces of everyone else and they look like some kind of reptilian alien humoids...😂😂 Which in reality they are ugly and hideous..not her. Anyway aparently the point is that beauty is subjective. In the end she was sent to live with a colony of other people that looked like her because she was so "hideous"...

Really? It was a smooth process for me. I have really small lateral incisors, not quite peg laterals. After I had Invisalign they moved up again. I got x rays and I can’t have any orthodontic treatment ever again on those teeth, my front two teeth, and my bottom teeth because I have short roots and the teeth would be at risk of falling out if I got Invisalign again. So I’m getting two small veneers put on top of those two incisors, but my dentist didn’t have to shave anything down on my teeth, in fact if I decided one day to have them off, my natural teeth would still be there and look the same. There are a few different kinds of veneers, I got the cheaper ones that are considered no prep. Now those teeth could fall out before it’s time to get new ones put on but by then I’ll probably have to get implants :( but at least then I don’t have to worry about my teeth roots and them falling out

    • @holeymcsockpuppet
      @holeymcsockpuppet Před 6 měsíci +4

Why? As a husband you have little influence on your wife's self-image. You love her, so her mind says you are biased. Some hot guy at work or the grocery store has 1000x more influence over your wife's self-image than you will EVER have. One glance from him after she gets a haircut impacts her more than all the complimentary and assuring words you will ever speak.
And that sucks. It's wrong. But it is what it is. No wife values her husband's authentic love over the s3xual validation of a hot stranger. And it's ending the institution of marriage.
If she ever says that kind of thing again, say this. "If my attraction to you isn't enough validation, feel free to leave." Not "leave me." Just "leave." Then end the conversation. Don't engage anymore. Don't discuss it. You can repeat it, but do not engage. It may start a fight. It may get you the abuse of the silent treatment.
But it WILL save your marriage...if she hasn't let you know "she loves you" but isn't "in love with you."

Thank you for bringing up this important issue, Amala. For my graduation my mom promised me a boob job (that I never wanted in the first place). She went to plastic surgents when I was 16, to see if they would do the surgery but they said we would have to wait until I was 21. Both my mum and sister have had boob jobs and I was told that I would be next. This was 15 years ago and I am so proud to say that I have turned the offer down when I graduated and by doing so gained so much confidence and love for my own body. Of course, I also struggle with certain aspects of my body, also because of aging. But my body is authentic and natural, just like my personality, and I am proud of that and love myself for who I really am (and want to be loved for exactly that and nothing else). Everything else is superficial, if you start to modulate your insecurities on the surface you will never be able to stop, because your insecurities will still ache from within.

My Mom suffered for years because of her EE bust size and she was only a size 18(Australian sizing) it was a standing joke that both Mom and I would never fall flat on our faces, after years of chronic back pain she finally saved up enough to have a total breast reduction down to a size more fitting for her dress size, to say Mom blossomed is an understatement. I would love to be able to do the same but I just cannot afford the high cost of the surgery. So I struggle along, but for years after Mom was finally happy with the way she looked.
I find that women who think big is gorges are crazy it’s uncomfortable its annoying it would be fantastic just for once not having to have to wear a bra that is reinforced to hold up 2-3 kg bust 24/7 your breast grow with every pregnancy you go through. I cannot buy a bra that is pretty to wear because they don’t make pretty bras for women who have watermelons up front and centre. I have a size 18 waist, size 20 hips, but I’m a size 24 top and as I am losing weight the only part of me that’s not shrinking is my bust. I wear a bra that flattens my chest just so it does not look too bad.
Thankfully I am now almost 61 so I don’t care anymore I look great for my age even if I’m twisted like a pretzel due to scoliosis.
The one thing these women forget when they get these chest implants they have to be replaced every few years because of what they are made of goes hard over time and then it makes them look lumpy, and they can never get a mammogram to check for lumps.

Sometimes she has moments of insecurity about some aspect of her appearance and regularly jokes about her "crazy hair" (very curly), but one of the things that makes her so attractive is the fact that she is very comfortable in her own skin, and she's embraced the way she looks without feeling the need to augment herself in any way. She doesn't look anything like the plastic people from the magazines and the movies and social media, and because of that some might think she's not 'conventionally beautiful'. Ther use optical tricks. Also, corsets were not torture devices and tightlacing was far from the norm. Corsets were breasts support, helped carry the weight of the skirts (instead of having the skirts dig into your side) and provided a more "rigid" surface, a base, for the clothes to lay on and give a smoother look.

I have a big nose and when I was about 14 years old I got this idea in my head that because of this ugly, big nose whole my life would be ruined. And if I just had a smaller, prettier nose, I would be so much happier. One morning standing in front of the mirror almost crying - because I was so convinced this was true - my mom came, looked at me like I was an idiot and said "stop being ridicilous, get yourself together and learn to live with what you have got.." So that discussion was over and I had to do as told: I learned to live with what I have got. My nose did not get smaller or prettier, but instead of it I concentrated on the things I wanted to DO in life (like travelling around, learning languages, living abroad) and how to achieve those things in stead of obsessing over how I LOOK like.. Now I am almost 50 years old, my nose is still the same, but I speak fluently 4 languages, have travelled and lived abroad in many countries on several continents - and my nose was always there with me, but never a hinder on anything I have done. So I hope people would look less in the mirror and more into their inner dreams, which are achieveble no matter how one looks like.

Being an extremely late bloomer to makeup, as an adult I appreciate and applaud the artistry that comes with doing one's or another's face well.
Makeup is meant to enhance what we already have and is an expression of who we are and how we would personally like to be percieved. A perfect and even cat eye is very, very difficult to do well, and takes a lot of practice. The colors and fun we have in the form of self expression is limitless, and we are each our own private canvasses to work on whenever we wish. Cutting off and out parts of your face isn't really a celebration or enhancement of what you already have, it's harming yourself because what you were wasn't good enough for you to display and present as flatteringly as you could. In contrast, doing makeup that brings out your eyes or highlights your naturally occurring bone structure is showcasing and bringing attention to the parts you love about yourself.

I have received tons of criticism from women in my life because I don't do it regularly... Years ago I worked in a production environment where there were strict controls on what we could wear while working. These were medical devices so for example we couldn't wear sweaters that would shed, or women couldn't wear nail polish or make up, etc. There was one particular woman who was in my eyes totally gorgeous. Every day I saw her without any make up at all so one day I ran into her outside of work and I almost didn't recognize her because she was wearing make up.
I didn't say anything but I thought she looked so much better without the make up.

It shows when someone is self-conscious about something and they are insecure about it. It’s the judgmental, self-defeatist, and superficial attitudes that gets me to view people negatively, not the imperfections themselves. Some people are just looking for ways to put you in a box so they can judge you as being less than worthy of common decency.

But after the operation her friends didn’t even notice there was a difference. She asked “don’t you see something different in my face” and the answer was “oh yea, right, now that you point it out” She was initially disappointed as she thought the procedure will have a bigger impact on the way people see her and her confidence. But she realised her friends and the people around her that matter accept her for the person she is and not for her looks only. I think that helped me growing up not too hyper focus on looks. And she clearly learned her lesson as she is one of the most confident and accomplished people I know.

There was anothrr creator who made a podcast on matural beauty. I loved how she highlighted girls used to compare themsleves to the most pretty girl in the neighborhood. Now women compare themselves to the most beaitiful women in the world! Because we see too much of social media.

Darling, take it from someone who loathed their image in the mirror when I was your age so much so, that I felt shame being around anyone, because I was sure they were throwing up in their heads when they saw me: when I became 30, after many years of therapy, I started to look at the old pictures of my self aged 10, 12, 15... I started to cry so hard, you cannot imagine. I remembered hating my body and now, many years later all I could see was a beautiful, young girl, that was so traumatized, she didn't even see how she looked like. She always was beautiful, but it took her 20 years to finally see that. Please don't waste 20 years of your life. As long as your heart is beating and you can feel love towards the world: you are and will always be beautiful. You are loved dearly by All that Is. Everything else is a lie. Shut down your computer, put down your phone and let the trees show you your true beauty. Take this message as a sign from God or the Universe, that it loves you. Sending you love form across the globe. ❤

Saying it's a phase probably won't make you feel any better, but you should know that what you're going through, most girls go through around your age. Social media has presented your generation with much less realistic examples to compare yourselves too, though, which is no doubt making things more difficult. I'm glad that you know now that most of what you're seeing online isn't real. What Amala says is right - what they're presenting as "beautiful" recently (plastic surgery enhancements to create a generic look with big lips, sucked out cheeks etc.), isn't natural, and in the opinion of most people, doesn't make them look any better than they did before. You're still young, the best thing to do is stop thinking about the way you look for at least the next 4 years because your face, body, everything, is going to continue changing. Since you are going to change, and you don't know how you're going to change, there's really no point worrying about how you look right now because it's a very short term thing (in 6 months you'll look very different). After the 4 years go by, you'll have more life experience and will be in a better place mentally to think about things. If you're like most people (you probably are), you won't have to think long because you'll realize you have no problems to fix - especially nothing needing surgery! If you're overweight right now, my advice is different. While your weight could decrease to normal over the next 3-4 years naturally, if it's not just 10-20 pounds and is from eating wrong and not exercising, the best thing you can do for your future self is to learn what to eat and how much of it to eat, and begin exercising to start bringing your weight down and getting into a healthy routine. If your weight does continue to go up, and it goes up fast enough (a guy I went to school with gained 50 lbs. per year for 3 years...) your body could end up with problems - and not just appearance problems - you could end up with diabetes and have to inject insulin (I won't go on because just the names of potential health problems of obese people include almost all health problems you can have, including early death (as early as mid 20s to early 30s!). In summary, if it's weight, work on your diet and exercise now. If it's not, do your best to stop worrying and revisit the issue in ~4 years - you'll look different then and likely feel different too. I'm sorry society is messed up this way and causing you pain.

I paid a deposit for a BBL when I was 20. Before I set a date for the surgery, something was telling me not to do it and I’m so glad I trusted my gut. I was able to get my deposit back in full because I hadn’t set a date yet, I used that money to hire a personal trainer and I could not be happier with my choice. I truly believe if I had gone through with it, it would have been a gateway to get more procedures that I didn’t need.
