I mean... I think there is some evidence to support this theory, don't remember where I read it but it seems like random and seemingly insignificant workers throughout the imperium get random hunches that push them towards a certain direction from time to time, often leading to the discovery of some heretical plot.
I always took his conversation with Guilliman not so much as a "I don't actually love any of my sons, you're all just tools." but rather him saying that he loves all of humanity with the same love he holds for his Primarch sons. Like, even the most lowly Guardsmen is important to him, and the Primarchs need to understand that they were created to serve and lead, not to be loved and pampered above the rest of humanity
im glad to read different persepctives, having not read it myself. its incredible how people can walk away with such different opinions. Things that are clear as day to me, sometimes randos on the internet dont agree with. this is what I knew in my heart to be true about the emperor, and im glad to see someone say they read it and agree
honestly, the more I read of Warhammer lore, the more the primarchs just seem like spoiled bitches. except Angron. The dude has good reason, it is good for him to be looking out for himself now. But the other ones were made to be gods and then after 2 centuries of coddling were asked to do one thing on their own and acted like daddy beat them or something.

Khan similarly did the same (the White Scars are known for evacuating people even as they fight enemies) and was never really close to any of the other primarchs or Big E. Khan is known to have legitimately hating Fulgrim and Lion'el. Both were way too prideful and loved to boast endlessly. Meanwhile Khan never boasted or talked about his victories. When Fulgrim tried to goad Khan into a duel, Sanguinius flat out told him he would lose horribly then turned to look at Lion'el and said you too would lose. None of them tried to contadict him as all knew he was gifted with foresight, though Fulgrim absolutely HATED hearing it.

Or Guilliman was hearing the numerous fractured pieces of his father's soul each having its own personality desperately being knitted together long enough to have a coherent conversation. Big E right now has literal multiple personality disorders
The biggest issue for Big E is to speak in a way that doesn't kill the recipient. He has a much easier time talking with Celestine for example. When Guilliman spoke with him he got several meanings whenever he spoke. For example when Big E called him by name he also heard primarch, soldier, 13, tool, son. For me that is about Big E beeing shattered, different parts of him seeing the primarchs as different things.
I imagine it's very hard for him to communicate with a normal person without incinerating and consuming their soul by accident. That's probably why sometimes it's just a little poke, and sometimes it's "I AM NOW AN AVATAR OF HOLY FIRE AND LIGHT!" it's probably hard for him to gauge the exact amount of power he puts into it. Sororitas, Astartes, Custodes, and Inquisitors are probably easier to talk to because they're all stronger mentally, and he doesn't have to fine-tune as much.
He spoke exactly the same to Sanguinius when he found him, so it is not him being shattered, it is about communicating telepathically by thoughts and ideas.
The Emperor did call Guilliman, "My last loyal son, my pride, my greatest triumph." It was too overwhelming that it burned Guilliman's mind during his fight with Mortarion.
In my own opinion that's just like being proud of a trophy on a shelf unexpectedly being really shiny after a bad day at work, not really something you feel a need to brag about but a good pick-me-up when the day hasn't been too good.

I read the book recently featuring that part with the lowly crewman and the nurglite daemon. He was the ships ace pilot, he abandoned his post because he saw a divine ghostly apparition of a woman and followed her down to an engine room where he found the daemon. He lured it into a trap and burned it and himself to death, except he survived and was kept alive with heavy augmetics after he was found.
You forgot the servant clerk and the other paper pushers all recieving some type of sign about one segment of the galaxy. One dropped her tarro deck to a perfect spread onto the papers. Another spilled ink that made a perfect aquilla So on an so forth.
The thing with the Emperor is he's learning on the job. He doesn't have anything to base his capabilities off of. Imagine you're barely holding up a heavy object from crushing you. You'd be very hesitant to try and take a step. I feel like that was the emperor for most of the time he's been sitting on the golden thrown. Now with the warp opening up it's like a bit a weight got lifted off. Not much but enough to make a difference.
I like to think that the emperor did love his sons, that aspect of him was elsewhere when he talked to Guilliman. At least I hope, Im assuming as much because when the emperor met Sanguinius, his thoughts came to the angel and words like primarch/general/weapon/son all rhymed together in his head.

The emperor viewed the primarchs as tools and tools only. During the unremembered empire story arc guilliman himself confesses that he was sure of this and i'm sure he notes how other primarchs must think the same, sanguinius among them. Look at what happened with angron. Upon discovery, the emperor was knocked back by one of his sons who chose to die with a bunch of half starved renegades for nothing rather than help the king of the space nazis make the galaxy his own playground. Did the emperor try and help him, possibly endearing himself to his errant primarch? Na, he tore him away from his people, left them to die and ensured angron would forever hate him and, lo and behold, he turned on him the first half chance he got

Not just the Garden, he destroyed Nurgle's plague cauldron! And Nurgle ran away. The chaos gods are willing to fight each other, most have even traded blows with Gork and Mork. Big E shows up and they simply run away. It is telling about the level of strength we are dealing with.

I don't think its quite clear-cut that the Big-E's convo with G-Man shows he always thought of the Primarchs as tools. He used lots of words like Son, 13th, etc... IMO part of him does (or at least did) have some sort of fraternal bond with some of the Primarchs - probably Sang, Horus, Russ, Magnus, Corax, Vulkan and probably one or two others...
Yeah, I don’t see why everyone is so laser focused on “tool”. Like, i can easily imagine being very high and asleep, and then being awoken by someone I love. I can imagine that a bunch of words for that person would go through my mind, not all of which were flattering if you were to look at them as their own descriptor. For instance, I might think of my dog as “friend, beast, child, guardian, annoyance.” That doesn’t mean I see my dog as one giant annoyance, just that one aspect of my relationship ship with my dog is that she annoys me at times. The Emperor saw Guilliman as a son, a servant, a soldier, a tool, and probably dozens of other words. I think the conversation was meant to show the Emperor’s fractured and barely lucid state of mind more than anything else, but everyone just focuses on one word

I Can't Remember full context but the thousand suns were in the warp and A Shard of the emperor engaged with him, had a conversation with them, and tried to encourage them to do something other than what they were trying to do

Not sure if you ever made a video about this but a video about what the rest of the galaxy was doing during the Horus heresy could be cool. Did any xenos partake in the fight? Did they all just stay out of the way? Did they take advantage of a weakened Imperium? I been wondering about that.
Fun things about the Goge Vandire death, the Emperor warned him through symbolism. When Sebastian Thor started gaining followers, Vandire sent a fleet to crush the rebellion. The fleet was torn apart in a warp storm called "The Emperor's Wrath." When Dominica executed Vandire, the rosarius around his neck, the energy shield that was supposed to represent the protection of the Emperor, did not activate in that moment.. It never even flickered.

I read the book recently featuring that part with the lowly crewman and the nurglite daemon. He was the ships ace pilot, he abandoned his post because he saw a divine ghostly apparition of a woman and followed her down to an engine room where he found the daemon. He lured it into a trap and burned it and himself to death, except he survived and was kept alive with heavy augmetics after he was found.

The thing with the Emperor is he's learning on the job. He doesn't have anything to base his capabilities off of. Imagine you're barely holding up a heavy object from crushing you. You'd be very hesitant to try and take a step. I feel like that was the emperor for most of the time he's been sitting on the golden thrown. Now with the warp opening up it's like a bit a weight got lifted off. Not much but enough to make a difference.

I like to think that the emperor did love his sons, that aspect of him was elsewhere when he talked to Guilliman.

I think he tells Guilliman this along with other things to tell him their greater purpose. He had plans for them.

The emperor viewed the primarchs as tools and tools only. During the unremembered empire story arc guilliman himself confesses that he was sure of this and i'm sure he notes how other primarchs must think the same, sanguinius among them. Look at what happened with angron. Upon discovery, the emperor was knocked back by one of his sons who chose to die with a bunch of half starved renegades for nothing rather than help the king of the space nazis make the galaxy his own playground. Did the emperor try and help him, possibly endearing himself to his errant primarch? Na, he tore him away from his people, left them to die and ensured angron would forever hate him and, lo and behold, he turned on him the first half chance he got
@@yerauldda6955 part of the reason he didnt help him was because of the fact that the world that enslaved angron had happily allied with the imperium without a fight, the emperor didnt want to ruin his relations immediately with this new world, and they likely had asked him to deal with that rebel army aswell. The emperor should still have rescued the entire army including angron but whatever

Not just the Garden, he destroyed Nurgle's plague cauldron! And Nurgle ran away. The chaos gods are willing to fight each other, most have even traded blows with Gork and Mork. Big E shows up and they simply run away. It is telling about the level of strength we are dealing with.

I don't think its quite clear-cut that the Big-E's convo with G-Man shows he always thought of the Primarchs as tools. He used lots of words like Son, 13th, etc... IMO part of him does (or at least did) have some sort of fraternal bond with some of the Primarchs - probably Sang, Horus, Russ, Magnus, Corax, Vulkan and probably one or two others...
Yeah, I don’t see why everyone is so laser focused on “tool”. Like, i can easily imagine being very high and asleep, and then being awoken by someone I love. I can imagine that a bunch of words for that person would go through my mind, not all of which were flattering if you were to look at them as their own descriptor. For instance, I might think of my dog as “friend, beast, child, guardian, annoyance.” That doesn’t mean I see my dog as one giant annoyance, just that one aspect of my relationship ship with my dog is that she annoys me at times. The Emperor saw Guilliman as a son, a servant, a soldier, a tool, and probably dozens of other words. I think the conversation was meant to show the Emperor’s fractured and barely lucid state of mind more than anything else, but everyone just focuses on one word
