Thank you, thank you, thank you for this interview! I had the best thing happen to me a little over a year ago - after meditating daily for about a month I became aware of the voice in my head and that was amazing! That led to an experience of nirvana for almost 4 months - pure bliss and I remember thinking, “this is what it’s meant to ‘be saved!’” I felt like the top of my head had been opened up and the universe was pouring itself into me. I completely severed my ties with the church (had been dedicated as a baby, ‘saved’ when I was 4, baptized when I was 8, went to a Christian high school, etc). I always struggled in church, Sunday school, school because I often had a broader interpretation of the Bible. I can also see auras (which I think everyone has the ability to see) and until I was 13 I thought everyone could see the colorful glow surrounding people, trees, animals. My mother freaked and thought I was possessed by the devil 😅. So I always knew we were just energy, that we are not these bodies - we are far more than that. If people were taught that we are god, that we are divine, that we are LOVE how much better life would be! Forget this brainwashing and telling people you’re going to hell and you are scum essentially unless you ‘accept Jesus into your heart.’ There’s that unconditional love that’s so much talked about. Gah. It’s so nice to hear other’s experiences and journeys.

I loved ur comment! I too can see auras & I recently (this past Wednesday) went to a family member’s funeral. As I sat & watched the deceased sons, husband & lifelong best friend give the eulogies, I was looking at how each person’s aura extended so far from their bodies & the brightness of the colors. When the Preacher started his speech, his aura was very tight & close to his body-not as bright as the others. Not to seem judgmental, but I guess he wasn’t as emotional as the others were so maybe that explains his aura. I wanted so much to compliment the others-to tell them I could literally see their love & emotion-but of course they might have thought I was crazy😂

@@TammyCondrenI love this! Yes, I’ve noticed that the greater a person’s emotion (whether happy, sad, excited, etc) the larger their aura. So cool. The trees auras have been magnified over the past 6 months or so, which I find fascinating. I only know one other person who sees auras (there are probably more, but it doesn’t naturally come up in most conversations 😂) so I found your comment very exciting lol!

I can't beleive there's people who would disown their own children because they have different religious beliefs. Here's an idea: *DON'T* have children unless you're ready to accept and love them for whoever they are. A child is not your property. They are another soul. An individual. They don't have to conform to your beliefs, whether religious, political, societal, or anything else. Don't have a child if you have set expectations for them. I can't stand people who try to brainwash/program their own child to think a certain way, or to have a certain career, or anything of the sort. NEVER make a child feel like they're not good enough just because they're not what YOU expected/wanted them to be.

I hear your words Nakatsu San. I feel your pain in the words. Reminds me of a story. I will tell it only as my weak mind remembers it.
There once lived a farmer who had many great fields. He was wealthy because of the great crops these fields yielded. He and his only son worked these fields together. One day his son fell from a tree as he was trying to harvest some high fruit. The son broke his leg. Many people came and offered their condolences to the farmer and said we are sorry that your son has broken his leg. Now you will not be able to farm as you did before and things will be bad. The farmer answered “We shall see.”
A month later there was a huge war that developed and all the able bodied men were taken for soldiers. The farmers son was not taken as his leg was still mending. The villagers came to him and said “it is a good thing that your son was not taken to war seeing that most have died.” The farmer answered “We shall see.”
The story continues with more…..the moral is simple yet hard to accept.
It is the same as the story of Joseph sold into slavery by his brothers! ❤

I love your discussion. In my early life I was sent to a Church of England school by my parents, who were atheist and agnostic. I asked the pastor and a few others what is this God thing all about and got the usual answer that God so loved us that he sent his only son who was then crucified and dies for our sins. That did not seem to me to be a very loving God. Also, I could not understand what guilt and fear had to do with love and forgiveness.
Long story short I then studied and practiced Buddhism via practicing Shaolin Kung Fu and then Taoism by practicing Tai Chi, then Yoga and the Vedanta which has a lot to say about God and deities, which is why it is said there are over a million gods in India.
When my life fell apart, with business failure and bankruptcy, I finally had no choice but to go back to Jesus. So, I became a follower of Jesus, but not part of any specific Christian Church of which there are many. I understood that LOVE was the answer and that is the principal commandment from Jesus - Love God with all your heart, mind and strength, Love your Neighbour as you Love yourself and most radically Love your enemy. I had a number of experiences which showed me the power of Love, Prayer and Love your enemy. Understand that and practice that and you will find you are on the right path. After all Jesus is asking us to have an experience of what it is to walk with God, not an academic theological discussion about it, as interesting as that may be. Whatever the problem Love is the answer.

I think all religions do the same thing. I was raised Mormon. You could not question what you were taught. I'm 71 and left in my late 50s. You do get a little shunned when you leave. The Amish shun family that leaves their belief system, Muslims shun their family that leaves and the same with Jews and probably Hindu and Buddhist. The first thing that turned me off to evangelical Christianity was the shoving of eternal hell down your throat. It meant my active Mormon kids and grandkids were going to be burned and tortured for eternity. I have since looked into total reconciliation and that definitely makes more sense. NDEs also help you see a different perspective of the afterlife. I DO NOT think anyone on this earth has ALL the answers. I totally put my trust in the one who created me and I call Him Abba (daddy).
I do feel Him taking care of me as I go through this latter part of my life as an older single woman. I do believe He IS LOVE. ❤

Buddhists do not shun family members who do not believe as they do. “When the student is ready, a teacher appears” - a Buddhist saying that you will come across the concepts that expand your soul when you can handle them, even those that take you away from Buddhism. Buddhism might just be one bus stop for your soul; for others, it might be the final destination.

That's interesting, because in Zen Buddhism and Taoism it is also called The Way (Tao means way). There used to be old scriptures which indicated that in his youth, Jesus studied early Buddhism (Ch'an) in a monastery in the Himalayas and became enlightened. He traveled there with his uncle Joseph of Arimathea. That could be the reason why his teachings are so similar to the early Ch'an teachings.

It's sad to see so many people following blindly. I say God gave me a soul, a brain, and the curiosity to question the world around me. The more questions I ask I more it is easier to see how we are all brothers and sisters from the same family divided by our pride of believing our one group has the one in only correct message from God. After my journey through life I have settled on believing that religion is mans best attempt to explain God, but as humans we can't fully know what the other side is like until we get there. Until I get there I will try my best to be a good person and try my best to make the world better even if it's in a very small way.

Hi Melissa, I too am a deconstructing Christian (from NZ). Adding on to this interview with Michael Camp, I have found the work of James Tabor very helpful. He wrote a book called "Paul and Jesus" and has a CZcams channel. He is a professor of religious history and his lifetime of study has been about the Apostle Paul. I hope you have a chance to check it out as it's another piece in the puzzle. I found it helpful because I lived my life, including a 35 year unhappy marriage, believing the sexism in Paul's letters, and that the Bible was not to be questioned.

My dad passed away in 2006. That experience really started a gradual deconstruction for me. He was a devout Christian, yet he suffered in agony for 2 years with stomach cancer. I have been back and forth with my faith, returning when I feel God is upset with me...feeling like a guilty sinner. Eventually I stopped going to church (my wife goes by herself). I've been in the closet about my lack of faith with family. On the phone recently my mom asked if I was going to church. She was not happy with my answer and said, "well you know what your dad and grandma would say, they would say you always should be there" she ended by saying "thats not what the bible says."

In my home city, Buddhist monks were visiting our Anglican cathedral, which I then belonged to. They remarked how beautiful and serene the church was. They noted there was a chapel in the wing of the cathedral called the 'meditation room'. They requested use of the meditation room for - you guessed it, meditation - while they were visiting. The Dean of the cathedral refused their request, on the basis that they were not Christian, and their version of meditative prayer wasn't going to be a fit for what we considered appropriate. Since that, the name of the meditation room was changed to 'the contemplation room'.
What that sad but beautiful lesson allowed me to realize, in my own deconstruction/self-inquiry process, is that when the supreme reality invites you to deepen your appreciation for what true faith and love means, you fundamentally have one of two choices: RELAX your boundaries, or ASSERT or your boundaries. Funnily enough, corresponding to the classic spiritual choice between love and fear. Love always amounts to ego-denial, fear always amounts to ego-defense. Every choice you make in whichever direction you choose will get you more of the same, until such a time as you elect to choose differently.

This is such a common problem. I never understood the cruelty of Old Testament. Better yet, I never understood the attempts of my church to justify killing young girls that were not virgins, and keeping the virgin girls ''for yourself'' (Numbers 31). Also, ''If your very own brother, or your son or daughter, or the wife you love (...) worships other gods (...) You must certainly put them to death.'' What?? (Deuteronomy 13:6-10). This traumatized me, and church members not understanding this, traumatized me more. I left the church.

I feel like the viewpoint here of finding depictions of God as incongruent between the OT and NT is somewhat shortsighted from the presenter in this video. A universalist view can look at the whole of the bible in both the OT and NT as historical allegory. Even the harsh events taken into account have a purpose in being mentioned.
I would believe that during those ancient times, every aspect of daily life was wrapped up in religious ritual across any and every culture there was. Thinking very literally or legalistically in a religious way really is not anything new. It was in fact common long ago; imagine every tribe in the ancient world consisting of or being led by evangelical zealots (quite ironic). So every culture and belief system had its strict set of rules which weaved itself into literally every aspect of life. I can understand the comparison and contrast with today’s age and more modern standards versus the ancient worlds ways that were more drastic and cruel. Jesus Himself really set a moral standard that changed the course of human living onwards, whereas before Christ there was in the view of all cultures and tribes a need and desire to practice rituals and sacrifice in order to mend one’s own shortcomings in their feeling distanced and spiritually separated from God.
Morally this becomes troublesome in the realm of human sacrifice. So when the worship of others gods is condemned with the sentencing of death, it’s not merely in the sense of how we would more casually understand worship today as say a passive reflection. It was active and participatory to a degree. Hence the mob of hecklers and naysayers who gathered during Christ’s crucifixion which was at the very tail end of the ways of ancient world. Their gathering was a Roman religious ritual as well as a Pharisaical ritual to appease their own spiritual lack out of misguided self-righteousness. The Romans essentially and practically worshipped Czar as their god. The Pharisees worshipped Satan as their god whom they formulated in their minds to be the character of God the Creator, and according to the Babylonian Talmud they hated Christ-Jesus even called them serpents and their temples synagogues of Satan. Interestingly it is from both ancient Roman culture and Persian or otherwise Babylonian culture that modern day Christendom borrows its concepts of everlasting hell from. So the mindset of all people during the ancient world was necessarily and fundamentally different pre-Christ, and debts that were owed had to be paid to quench a spiritual disconnect from God.
In ancient Israelite tradition all men are seen as stewards upon the earth who are accountable to God for how they manage what it is they’re given. Poor stewards who shun what is given to them to care for and manage, or who despite also being their brother’s keeper would even abuse and scorn their peers, are judged harshly during their life on this earth. While the judgment for their wicked deeds was harsh, it is Christ who still reconciles them back to the Father, as how it’s mentioned that Christ while he was in the grave ministered to those who passed in Noah’s day. While a retributive time period across ages in human history highlights God’s reason as a Father for having wrath, that wrath is not meant to be cruel or destructive for its own sake. It was to reciprocate in kind and in this life the same measure of harshness that those who lived wicked lives would inflict unto others. God’s righteousness rather than tormenting those who lived wickedly in everlasting conscious torment(which included the pious and religious like the Pharisees) is to have the wicked come to a point of remorse and regret in order to be compelled to confess. Upon their bodily resurrection, they will live a new life of repentance.
As one more note which personally I believe is important to consider, there is some debate with some theologians that when the massacre of peoples is brought up in the OT that it may not necessarily be literal but rather figurative with intense phrasing to carry emotional weight. Somewhat as in some of the chapters of Psalms where David is expressing his grief in being persecuted by Saul, and thus he exclaims his desire to see his adversaries crushed in rather vivid detail. That vividness is thought by some to be as an expression to denote someone spiritually being crushed. I believe this makes much more sense personally, although this can’t realistically be applied everywhere or all the time in say the case of the death of the firstborn Egyptians during the Egyptian plagues. I would think that this could also apply to the strictness upon those within the priesthood to remain as virgins until married, but the reasons for strictness there is also due to inheritance of wealth to preserve family lineages. Our modern civil system of property rights and ownership really didn’t exist back then, and inheritance was the most stable framework available for bestowing and retaining wealth.

Consequently the books need debate and consideration. In fact their understanding was almost inevitably less than we have today. So one needs to critique them properly, not get offended if someone else does.

I found, that when I understood that Jesus was a Jewish mystic and that he had learned everything that he preached from the East during the age of 12 and 29 when he lived in India, that it all made sense. His message of love comes directly from the Upanishads and Gita's and from the Vedic tradition. Also, his practices of "being alone in the wilderness" (ie meditating) come from here. His whole philosophy is exactly the same as what the Gurus like Yogananda, espouse. It is of love and peace and goodwill towards all men (ie people). He was crucified, not to save sinners, but because the Jewish people didnt like his deconstruction of Judaism, and because the Romans didn't like what he preached and the fact that he caused them grief in their occupation of the Holy Land because he incited people to form other movements. I have studies Advaita Vedanta for 12 years now and am a part of a group that has dialogue about the teachings of this ancient wisdom. I find so many similarities with the early Jesus movement in the first and second centuries. It was from 325AD, from the first council of Nicea (Nicea I), that Christianity began to be formed, whereupon the clerics nd bishops of these councils continues for hundreds of years to debate and perfect the doctrines and dogmas of the institutional church through the adaptations and changes made to the "faith" through the ecumenical councils that still meet frequently to create new doctrines (like Atonements) that give them even grater powers over the people to control them. The conflict and schisms between the orthodox clerics and bishops of the institutions and the mystics of Christianity has been a part of both the Eastern and Western orthodox Christian traditions for a thousand years. The persecution of the mystics and other individuals who realised God was within them and had Self Sovereignty, resulted from the tight fisted grip the Church had over the people. Mystics like St Simeon the New Theologian, St Serphin of Sarov, St Julia or Norwich, St Teresa of Avila, St John of the Cross, and many others, had to be careful not to be burned as witches, because of their experience with the Divine. It is a long and fascinating story of true faith (experience of the Divine within) and twisted faith (control of the Church without), and I am still learning so much about it.

The Bible is a contextual document. You have to understand the time period of the lesson and how that lesson is being applied. No verse and no chapter in the Bible should be removed from context. In Deuteronomy, God had just wrapped up a period of Teaching humans through interaction and a few rules/directions. That period turned out to be useless for us and God probably knew that it would be. However, we had to be given that chance. Now in the time period of Deuteronomy, God switches gears and swings the pendulum all the way to the other end - we didn't want to learn the easy way, so God decided to swamp us with so many rules and so many things that at first take and beyond don't make sense to see if we would entrench ourselves in God's rules and stop doing things and using our free will by making up our own rules. Of course, few wanted to spend their time getting clarification from God directly, so that period also didn't work. The Bible then moves through some more periods of time where God attempts to get our attention in other ways... The Ten Commandments, Issiah and more. Of course, even the chosen group and the group closest to God at the time continued with their un-holy ways. Thus, God provided the Perfect solution, which took things away from communal operations and processes in terms of our Relationship with God, into an Individual Relationship structure. It's a One-to-ONE Relationship in these modern times and that is what matters. If you want to understand The Bible, you must understand it with context, as an entire Word of God, it's The Word (singular), it is not words (plural). You want to know the Truth and The Reasons, don't search for those on YT or by way of other humans. God is the Best Guide and Jesus is The Best Teacher - that's where you will get the correct answers.

I don’t remember if you’ve talked about this much on your channel or what you’re in to as far as ETs are concerned, but Paul Wallis can tell you exactly why the Bible is all messed up! As a translator of ancient sacred texts, he traces many of the stories to what he calls paleo contact, which were historical periods where ETs were openly operating among the people. As a Phd level researcher and former priest, he shows exactly when and where words that meant Lord or Ruler, in reference to certain people and what he gives evidence for as other worldly beings, were conglomerated together as the word God. So when he refers here to the Old Testament being largely based on myth, it might be shown to have actual historical truth and that the beings that were wrathful and vengeful God were actual reptilians! I can’t remember what your stance on ets are, but I think it has a large part in our current culture to subdue humanity, as the war for our souls, but is in more of a covert operation in our time as opposed to the early dark ages when it was an open fact. Check him out on his CZcams channels, Paul Wallis and the 5th Kind, and his Eden books. Maybe you’ve already had him on but I can’t remember! ❤ Thank you! I was wondering what deconstruction was as you’ve been mentioning it lately! Have a good one!

He also taught tolerance and forgiveness to a humankind that loves revenge and exclusion. He didn't appease some angry God's wrath to save us. I believe he chose to be crucified so that he could demonstrate "a friend laying down his life for a friend", so they would see his love by him forgiving their typical response to anyone with his type message. Not every activity is either good or bad, there's a lot of middle ground, and it often depends upon context and the motives of those involved.

I seem to have been on my personal #DeconstructingChristianity #DeconstructingTheBible journey since the later 90ies already and much of what Mr. Camp referenced here has lead to my dismissal of the Roman-Catholic Church or other, even more fundamentalist "flavours" of Christianity. (which is not to say that I'd have dismissed the set of values as taught by Jesus, on the contrary).
Some aspects, like the two-faced and transactional God I had felt similar about, but didn't have words for. However, I had also identified the crass paradoxes that are being conveyed by the Scriptures.
I mean, if anyone just used their common sense and imagined a modern day scenario ... they'd discard that book right off the bat, wouldn't they? In fact, we can even use a very real and ongoing scenario like e.g. #ClimateCrisis or the disparate messages circulating the press during the #pandemic and what had it brought on and such - I believe, that the outcomes are what I'm trying to depict here, i.e. take any situation and have a set of experts have their say on the matter: While they all come from or arrive in _some common ground_ , the larger part of their work can't be reconciled from one person to the next or blended into an _always right_ message to adhere by, no?. Same here, with the Bible as Mr. Camp seems to have described in detail in his book..
In any case: Thanks for providing a place to come to for whom the "infallability" of the Scriptures never sat all that well with. Thank you, both.

The following verse, in the new testament, states that God is capable of vengeance:
    Romans‬ ‭12:19
Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.
I believe God can take His face away from you so you fall under the dominion of lesser and more evil Gods. Stay close to love, stay close to God.

IMO, this is a self generated state of being here on earth and can be created on the other side if you truly believe it- which I do not choose to believe it. Fear based religion is terrible- FEAR means false evidence appearing real.

This man is correct that we don't understand the Bible, but incorrect to make so many assumptions about his understanding of the Old Testament. What about personal prayer and divine guidance to help you understand the word? What about Howard Storms's NDE where Jesus says that the Bible is true but must be understood spiritually? What about the fact that the stories are ancient, related to a different cultural and linguistic context? I don't think that ideas like God's forgiveness have anything to do with God being upset, for example. I think it's about the divine laws of reality. Even the ideas of fear of God and anger of God have alternative translations such as awe of God and displeasure of God. The words that are translated as eternal in the idea of damnation can mean an indefinite long period of time. When you listen to the NDEs, these new translations and understandings I am presenting match up much more closely. The flood over the earth in the day of Noah was because "The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence." (Genesis 6:11) He was destroying murderers, and from what I know of the description and of idolatry, probably they were violent, hateful, child-murdering, orgy making, prostituting, paranoid people who were drunk on seeking the blood of their enemies. These people were rearing their children in the same mindset. The earth's computer needed it's restart button pressed. I think we are being arrogant and overly critical of the Bible if we dismiss the Old Testament God out of hand. Michael Camp's attitude is blatantly contradictory to NDEs you present on this channel. It is close-minded in it's own way. It's not scholarly or mystical. It's frankly a lazy approach of outright dismissal of whatever doesn't align with your instinctive reaction to the words you read on the page. I appreciate that we are questioning tradition, but let's not assume our immediate reaction is a full picture of what ancient prophets were trying to communicate.

Also, one more thing to add here sorry. Must be noted that the church at Corinth and Thessalonia were Roman and pagan churches. If you studied or are “well read” as you have said you are in some of your videos. You would know some of the absolute disgusting, evil and vile things that were happening at these places before Paul had visited and even some of the gross things they were STILL doing after his visit to these places.
There are a few other places in Rome and around that area that were VERY pagan and VERY far from the love of Christ. Paul went to these places to teach them the love of God the Father through the love of the Son Christ Jesus. Also to teach them to leave their sinful state and put on a new way of thinking (which is found in Christ) if you have the mind of Christ you do not want sin. Romans 7:25 addresses this issue of mind and body craving different things even after accepting Christ. Also, Romans 12:2 speaks of the renewing of your MIND. There’s much scripture on the purpose of your mind and why it is such an important and special part of you and MUST be protected at all times.
See the newer churches of Christianity were also FILLED with pagan ideology and old Jewish religion (laws) so even THEN they were understanding things incorrectly. But many verses clears up the confusion and misunderstandings of the texts.
We must also keep in mind that there IS such a thing as new age Christianity that is sweeping over the world that is deep in false religion and false teachings.
Do I agree with all theological teachings or doctrines of the word of God? No! But do I put those down and call them silly or “brainwashed” for believing them? No! Because truth is, at the end of the day, sky is still blue, grass is still green and people are still people. WE are the ones that need changing. NOT the word of God! People have a right to believe whatsoever they choose and at the end of the day… no skin off my nose 👃
But it should be noted also that a lot of things were debated in the Old Testament about a lot of the teachings of the word. The pharisees and sadducees (both religious leaders back then) argued a lot about death and hell and where we go after life.
So although lake of fire is taught in the New Testament mainly and not mentioned much in the Old Testament, I know of Malachi 4:1 which mentions the lake of fire burning like a fiery oven.
That does not dismiss the whole point of Gods wrath and his condemnation for the wicked of this earth. We know that the lake of fire is left for the day of judgement (which is also also clearly taught and mentioned all throughout scripture. But yet MANY (such as mormons, Jehovah’s Witness, seven day Adventists, Jewish AND Muslim) do NOT believe in hades, lake of fire OR that Christ IS the son of God and the second person of the trinity. 🤔
So it seems to me that most of the world os at WAR with Christian’s who believe these things because apparently we’re the “insane or crazy ones” for believing this lol
God taught us through HIS chosen people, he used these people to write down HIS words through HIS SPIRIT. Also, side note, there have been MANY biblical things that happened IN THE BIBLE that HAVE been proven and MANY MANY artifacts recovered and things revealed.
    www.blueletterbible.org/faq/don_stewart/don_stewart_114.cfm
Here’s an article you may want to look over have you have any spare time. It talks a lot about hades and the lake of fire and the differences between these two.
Please understand that this message comes from a place of love. You should not be on here pointing down the finger at those who CHOOSE to follow Christ and WANT to stay committed to their faith and walk with Jesus as I’m sure you wouldn’t want someone doing to you.
There’s a lot about Gods word that we don’t understand, but if some choose to lean in to those doubts and fears and questions and hash it out with God then don’t laugh at those who choose to stay in it just as you don’t want people laughing at you if you choose to leave your walk with Christ.

That was a great sermon. Thank you for sharing it. The only thing I would like to add is a famous quote, which goes like this: In the land of the insane, the sane man doesn't become king, he get's lynched.
People, starting off with about 1 percent knowledge, quickly double or triple that. Now then arriving at 2 or 3 percent knowledge, they stop learning and figure they now Know, they figure they're sane - although they still have more than 97% to go prior to harboring The Holy Spirit of God. However, this ~2% is sometimes enough to get millions of people to fall in line behind them. It's kind of crazy, but it's this world we have and it's for a reason.
Good News is, despite all this, only a little bit of faith is required to get a soul back onto the correct path and The Way and The Relationship will ensure that a soul stays on the Righteous path.
God is the Best Guide. The Messiah is the Best Teacher. Human souls should stop trying to learn from the Internet and other humans, Jesus deserves to be our Teacher because of what Jesus Did. We also deserve to be Taught by God. Why settle for less?

So I watched about 20ish mins of this guy and I found it really strange lol that people who were once “Christians” or once “followed Christ” say that they also are “so accepting” and “so tolerant”? When you are literally sitting in a video stating things like “it was satan or demons” while laughing 🤔 (so mocking the Christian faith and beliefs of hell and demons and satan?)
Btw if you look it up, (it’s also IN THE BIBLE the Judeo Christians also argued a lot about hell (hades) and if there even was an eternity at all. The church in Corinth and I believe the Thessalonians also tried to understand the teachings of hades or as the Hebrew reading would be Sheol.
As a follower, a teacher and a learner what I find most interesting about people who leave their “faith” to follow other teachings or methods of pretty the same thing that Jesus (Yeshua Hamasheia) taught, it’s quite strange.
Gods first command (we are still believing in God the one and only King and mighty all knowing all seeing all powerful God here) but his first command is to indeed, HAVE NO OTHER GODS BEFORE ME!
So… there’s a dilemma that we are faced with here as Christians. We can either question the legitimacy of the word…. Or question our understanding and OUR interpretations of it.?
Because at the end of the day if you believe in the bible as the Holy and written word of God (written as the inspired word through the prophets and apostles) then you can either believe it as a whole (events, commands, teachings and so on and so forth) orrrrr you can do what you and your friend on this interview have done here. Which is deconstruct the word of God to as nothing more than a bunch of words scribbled down by a bunch of people that “claimed” they were teachers or holy people of God but never actually taught the truth and if that’s the case then EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING…. In the word is either permissible or false.
And if that’s the case here…. Then weee going to have a real problem lol
Also, sidenote; Sheol (place of the dead) had two different compartments of it, Hades was made up of two compartments - an upper and a lower. The upper level was called Abraham's bosom, while the lower level is the place of torments (Gehinnom). The righteous were in the upper level, while the unrighteous exist in the lower. This makes it possible for the ones in the lower level to look up at the ones in the upper. This division existed only before the resurrection and ascension of Christ.
This is also spoken about in Luke 16:14-31
The teachings of the rich man and the poor man. This is not just a “metaphor” that Jesus was speaking of, this is a real teaching (something that really happened) had it been a “metaphor” as this man in your video states, what would be the point of this teaching? Actually, why teach of hades at all? If there is NO PLACE of torment and pain at all… why speak of it at all?
I believe what Jesus was teaching here was an ACTUAL PHYSICAL place of hell. A place that when we die (had we not accepted Christ as our Lord and saviour) we WILL go to.
I had my own personal experience in the place of the dead (Sheol) and I can tell you…. Everything that God teaches us in his word IS in fact WORD FOR WORD, HIS TRUTH to us. It’s a guide book to teach us how to live, how to conduct ourselves, our history and most importantly… HIS inspired word!
If we take away God from his word then we just have another history book. If we don’t question (I’m the right way) then we are brainwashed robots. There IS a happy medium between this. But if you believe that we have souls (which I gather you do based off of some of your other videos I’ve seen) then you do know that our souls are eternal beings CREATED by God not that we are our “own gods” or we “created god” but we are beings CREATED by God. And have that being the case that means we are eternal beings with real thoughts, real feelings and REAL emotions just “like God” not “we are god” but LIKE God. We were made in HIS image (meaning same attributes) but NOT God! So if we being eternal beings, and God being the loving God HE is, he gives us freewill, we can freely choose to accept him and what he did on the cross for us or freely choose to reject him and what he did for us.
1 John 1:10 says; If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
Mark 2:17 says; I did not come to call the righteous but the sinners.
If Christ himself said that we are SINNERS in NEED of SAVING then what then? Is this not true? Is the whole bible a myth or a lie? Was Christ real? Is there really a heaven or a hell? Is there a God? Maybe we just die and there’s NOTHING after life here 🤔
    …..
Maybe, we must READ THE TEXT the way it should be read and interpreted, through the Holy Spirit! Otherwise we end up with a mind all over the place with questions and NO answers! It sounds like to me… like you and some of your guests on here have a mind full of questions, but no answers? If God gave us answers, why not look to HIM for those answers?
Anyways. I know this is a long text I wrote, I apologize for going on for so long. But just thought I’d share my thoughts 😊 take care sister 👋🏼 prayer and blessings to you.

This guy is off-base on a lot of stuff especially early church history and his theology seems to be weak/shallow. I personally think thats because of his evangelical background. Jesus made ONE church, not 1000 different denominations, and the bible tells us (the church) to be of of ONE mind in numerous verses. If every Christian "deconstructs" themselves into their own opinion of what Christianity is or who Jesus is then there is no church and we certainly can't be of one mind. Christians need good theology because, as the host alluded to at one point, the bible is NOT a "flat" text.
